It also bears a small resemblance to Kylar Stern of "The Night Angel Trilogy" by Brent Weeks... but if I am correct here, the Night Angel Trilogy came out after this song was released, so similarities are coincidental.

@Merdrak , the story begins with the Chronicles Trilogy, where the caracter is introduced, but, for themoment, is just one among a group of others. The second trilogy, the Dragonlance Legends, digs deeper on him.

Anyway, to fully understand Railstlin it is necessary to read the Chronicles first.

Not familiar with "The Night Angel Trilogy"; should check it out.

I like the Night Angel Trilogy, but it does tend to start slow. .. and if you don't read carefully at points, it might confuse you.. My only issue with this album from blind guardian is that they took the style they perfected on the Nightfall album and took it too far. When you get a 5+ minute song where not may riffs repeat themselves and with so many time changes, it's hard to follow where the song's going. That would probably be why not many songs from this album are included in BG's live sets. They're good but boring. And before people jump all over me, BG in Toronto is/was THE best concert I've ever been to.
