George Washington had Porphyria that caused changes in his skin color. Don't forget that vitamin b3 can cause flushing (and does in many cases) so using it to get rid of that redness seems almost contradictory. Also, butterfly rashes are indicative of alcohol consumption as well as Lupus which is an autoimmune disease (like Porphyria)
