  • R.I.P, Licitra.

We are going to miss you so much.

  • Licitra can sing some arias decently (like this one) and on others he just doesn't cut it. To be speaking of Licitra as one of todays opera elites just goes to show how far down the opera world has gone in recent years.

  • sicuramente paga per poter"CANTARE"

  • Un vero porco!!! Dammi invece FRANCO CORELLI!!!!

  • turandot licitra

  • i LOVE THE SET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • bravi

  • That was Funny....

    Terrible acting....

Saluti

  • @AleBro83 Scusami ma perchè Raimondi è un CANTANTE???? A me non risulta proprio!!!!

  • Bravi, bravi!!!!!!!!!

  • Licitra here is at his best --

  • oooohh, where is the meridian for Licitra? This poor fella needs A LOT of work. I can tell you that without any reservation.

  • Dear Nello, I believe LIcitra's rendition is about the best that any contemporary tenor could provide. I'm NOT saying Licitra is as good as MDM, Corelli, Pav, Domingo, etc. I respect your opinions so much that I am disinclined to debate you, my friend:). But can you name a contemporary tenor who sings this better than LIcitra (NOT the role, just the passage) ? Best always, Steve

  • I can name preferences and that is all. I will never dispute preferences for they are personal. I can point to Fabio Armiliato, Hector Sandoval, Emanuel diVillarosa, and Jose Cura as examples of my current preferences. Of those the best qualified voice is that of diVillarosa, who I think has a video of Recondita posted. I just don't think that Licitra has the vocal tools required, and I have seen him on several occasions. Much like Cura, it is a white voice, but I am rooting for them both!

  • @stevevandien Jonas Kaufmann sings the face clean off of this passage. The clips at the MET are better quality, though the clips of his berlin performance are sweet too.

  • BTW...I am not stalking you, we share the same curiosities it seems :)

  • No problem, my friend:) --

  • questo cavaradossi non mi piace per niente

  • Yeah. Salvatore Licitra is underated. But he does "pull it off" as some pundits say. It's because Licitra really gets into character. That's convincing and helpful to the opera fans. It's not just to hear educated and beautiful voices, the show is visual and emotional as well. I have seen Licitra on stage, he does take control and knows when to share too.

  • You would know then that his Trovatore and Pagliacci were horrible. He is not underrated at all, he was pushed through the system quickly by his heroic efforts in filling in for Pavarotti in Tosca. This singer needs much vocal work, BUT he is a really lovely man and I personally am rooting for him.

  • God, Nucci is such a fantastic artist. I never will understand why a musician as great as Muti would do so much for a singer as unsatisfactory as Licitra.

  • The actual B flat was okay... What wasn't okay was the way he sang everything else, it was all too short and sounded stupid.

  • HAHA

  • THis is actually alright. Usually what I expect from him is utter garbage and terrible singing, so I am pretty suprised.

  • brava

  • Not really good
