By the time (if ever) we have time travel we'll already have perfected technologies such as invisibility cloaks and communications by thoughts, we wouldn't be carrying around a 2010's mobile communications device. It also likely we won't even look human as we know it.
If it was a phone how did it work, where are the satelites orbiting the earth to send back the signals and the antennas on the ground to transmit these signals or can machines time travel as well?

The device could be a dedicated means of communication using quantum entanglement which would allow communication across time, but only to the other device to which it is "entangled". If she is from a period in time in which they've invented time travel, then quantum communication devices aren't out of the realm of possibility.

If you ever seen filming done you would know that LOTS of light would be used, this "extra" looks like she is covering her/his face from the light, as for the talking, remember audio is done later, the extra was probably talking to the other extras while being filmed, I see no object in the hands, shadow yes! also sometimes the same extras are used in various scenes in a movie, so the cover up maybe to avoid recognition.
@agriperma the screen actors guild was founded in 1948.In 1928 anyone who walked past the camera was an extra.Most films were made outside during daylight with the sun behind the camera or directly overhead to save money and time as cameras did not move in those days so everything had to be set in place and stay there.A very costly and time consuming exercise.this was just a placed camera in daylight with random people walking by which was how chaplin made his movies.

@PPAULL40 - Yes RKO had the radio tower (der-der-der-der) and yes, radio phones did exist - however they were big heavy machines - microchips didn't exist and it was all valve and lamp based electronics back then with miles of twisted wires. So where is the portable battery back pack she would have had to wear, where's the massive hand set and speaker that would look like a dumbell in a womans hand back then, despite the fact that shaped handpiece hadn't been designed yet?

heres my opinion on time travel.Time is distance.Any given distance is a measurement of time.Any sort of movement by an object along that distance is TIME TRAVEL.Since everthing moves,including the atoms that make up your good self,everything travels through time,all the time.The direction you travel in will be dictated by natural forces ie gravity etc.Then we CAN say you may only travel in the direction those forces allow.That is with the expansion of the universe.1928 doesnt exist any more.

If you ever seen filming done you would know that LOTS of light would be used, this "extra" looks like she is covering her/his face from the light, as for the talking, remember audio is done later, the extra was probably talking to the other extras while being filmed, I see no object in the hands, shadow yes! also sometimes the same extras are used in various scenes in a movie, so the cover up maybe to avoid recognition.

@agriperma the screen actors guild was founded in 1948.In 1928 anyone who walked past the camera was an extra.Most films were made outside during daylight with the sun behind the camera or directly overhead to save money and time as cameras did not move in those days so everything had to be set in place and stay there.A very costly and time consuming exercise.this was just a placed camera in daylight with random people walking by which was how chaplin made his movies.

c) Who is she talking too? The infrastructure for mobile networks didn't exist, duh!
The most likely explanation is that it wasn't her good side, so she put her hand up to cover her face.
