It's not just the lyrics that make this a great song, although they are good. The movement between vocals is unique and lovely. The use of the same voice but recorded separately to be used in syncopation (@2:57) is something I've not heard done this well before. Try listening on really good headphones. As Alan Partridge says: "This'll blow your socks off".

Then when the refrain 'we painted a song' comes in, you're just about melting.
