  • i tryed to get used with the horrible controls but that requires alot of patience and you have to slow down speed contstantly to minimize chances of hitting obstacles or getting out of bend, since the low response control is still to sensitive, you got to stay hit on the d pad to bent correctly.

even you opponent is slow & sometimes waits for you.

but even then it,s still hard & slippery.

i finaly dit had win 1 race, those nice nice artificial textures hardly can help you orientating where to go.

  • is this from an emulator or captured from real hardware? anyone know where I can see video of it from real hardware? BSNES sputters and gags on this game and I'm not getting 50 FPS (code probably isn't optimized yet) and other emulators aren't accurate enough to properly recreate real hardware.

  • @neogeon The reason it doesn't run at 50 Hz on an emulator is that it doesn't run at 50 Hz on the actual hardware, either. The choppy framerate seen in this video is what you get on an actual SNES.

Anyway, this game is truly horrible and seriously has the worst controls in any racing game I've ever played, even beating Penny Racers on PSX. But a british magazine called "Super Gamer" gave the game 95% and said it's the best racing game on the SNES. I was laughing to tears when I saw that.

  • it has the worst control i,ve ever seen, yeah even worse then stuntrace fx,and that will those games are running on a sf2 chip, that,s insane,i bet that even harddriven on snes wich is polygon based and had even no sfx chip inside, just play's better!!!

this game has atleast some impressive dance music.

  • I have Winter Gold and it's terrific on the SNES!

  • @bonggzilla: What about Yoshis Island???

  • I initiated my skills of boredom and overclocked the SuperFX chip (GSU-1 and GSU-2) on the snes cartridges and it yeilded reasonably good results, made many of the games more playable, Doom, to an extent seing as the framerate was caped pretty low, bu the others worked better, such as a late copy of starfox, much less sluggish, especially on the space armada stage and the venom stages

  • Star Fox, Stunt Race FX, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Doom are the only four good games to use the Super FX chip. Everything else sucks. Dirt Racer easily being the worst.

  • Did these guys who programmed this game ever played it themselves?

  • What a fail. The Super FX chip 1 did Stunt Race FX and Dirt Trax. This Dirt Racer, with the FX chip 2 should have been really good. BTW do you guys find SNES Doom at all playable? I don't, compared to the PC version. RE Doom: do you find that people often play it with the music quality far lower than they might have it, by not bothering to change the settings? I think most Doom players don't know how good the music on the PC original actually was, due to its future-proof usage of good soundcards

  • that looks like its running at 2FPS damn that would mess with your eyes

  • dirt racer would've helped a bit if it had a map.

  • Sadly, only nintendo knew how to really prodgram with super fx2 chip... Am i wrong? With exception of ID software with its version of doom 2

  • Games like star fox pushed it way too far, to the point where the games were barely playable. The Super FX chip is best used in combination with the consoles 2D capabilities.

  • wait, how the heck is gameplay worse on ground than in air!? I thought dirt racer should have played better than starfox! lol gawd was I off!

  • Of the Super FX games, Starfox/Starwing is the best, but Yoshi's Island and Doom are very good too, and Stunt Race FX is decent.

Dirt Racer, Vortex suck, and Winter Gold is blah. Haven't played Dirt Trax, don't really want to.

  • yeah the super fx 2 games all suck ass

saddly only starfox or (starwing)is good!

  • Dirt Racer is pretty bad. Starfox 2 is decent but it's beta. But Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is also a Super FX 2 game and it is pretty good, I'm going to make a video about that one. The doom port isn't the best and I haven't played Winter Gold yet.

  • winter gold is ok but not good i think

most of the super fx games

like vortex dirt racer dirt trax are really bad :-(

but i like this oldschool 3d graphics

stunt race fx starwing 1+2 and smw yoshi island i looooooove them so much

also what about virtua racing on the sega genesis?! that chip is very similary to the super fx chip

doom got the fx chip in the catridge? i don`t know that?!?!

    cool vid make more

    nice greez bongzilla

  • Wikipedia says that doom has got the super fx 2 chip. I'll try to make a vid about every super fx 2 game, but I don't think that I can find all those. I guess games like "Comanche" on the SNES are impossible to find. Their worked on a Mario game with the Super FX 2 chip, which later became Mario 64.

  • @bonggzilla Whats wrong with you? Vortex was awesome.

  • @bonggzilla I have Winter Gold and it's terrific on the SNES!

  • @THE7thHAND This Was A Beta I Think Like Star Fox 2 Which Was Awesome Was Never Polished Out And Made Like Stunt Race FX Which Was The Best Real Time Rendered 3-D (F-Zero Does Not Count Because Of No Polygons Just Mode 7) But Still Dirt Racer Is Good For Curiosity Like Star Fox 2 English Translated Finished Version.

  • so all sfx2 games suck ass yet you love yoshi's island?

    k.
