  • saw my cousin graduate from camp pendleton and i respect these heroes. semper fi good ppl of america. my cosuin was platoon 1066 forever

  • And! Thats a FACT

  • I was "2113" in Hotel Feb. 25th 1983. On my way to become "grunt".

  • MCRD San Diego really is a beautiful installation.

  • No. My son is wearing dress blues because he was an Honor Guard or something like that.

  • @EnigmaWellness When I got to ITS, I wipe the honor guards sleeve w/ my snoot. Heeeehehe he didn't do a danm thing about it. By the way I was picked not him for recon school, "smoked": your boy: Chief! Yep Native: Navajo from Holbrook,AZ.

  • does parris island and sand diego wear different uniforms at graduation?

  • @sibs1990 I know.

  • do they assign you to be a guide in a platoon? if so, how?

  • how is it dtermined which formal uniform you get?

  • What happens after graduation?

  • I remember the hours spent on that grinder and winning honor platoon in final drill and getting to go to the movies as a reward from our Senior. It was about 4 days before graduation and when the movie was over, we simply walked back to our squadbay as a group, no formation, no cadence. That was when I knew our D.I.'s were human and very proud of us. That was 1982. Semper Fi.

  • hey does anyone know the address to the graduation ceremony? or do i have to contact my boyfriends drill instructor for that information?

  • i respect all branch, but U.S.M.C. WAS MY DREAM, BUT UNFORTNELLY THEY WONT TAKE ME...

  • @1225801 why didnt they take you?

  • I wanna be a honor grad. I want to leave parris island in dress blues! I can't wait to join. I want to join so badly, but I'm stuck in highschool -.-

  • @Soldier1287 All good things come in time.

  • @Soldier1287

change ur email devil pup. army has soldiers*

  • @Soldier1287 its not a honor grad, they are guides, that means they assisted their DI's to an extent while in basic training. If you want to be a marine sign when you are 17, you recruiter will put you in the DEP, ( delayed entry program) where you can start to mentally and physically prepare for basic training, just remember, they wont offer you a rose garden! Semper Fi.

  • @Soldier1287 They are guides, not honor grads, and go find a recruiting office and go into the DEP, come on now, Motivation man

  • @Soldier1287 dont rush it kid.

  • @mercbenzforlife im not. i just get pumped watching vidslike this.

btw that comment is oold as hell.

and also, idk about "kid".....im 18

  • @Soldier1287 same here

  • SEMPIR FI MARINES!!

  • the reason those Marines are in dress blues is because of Commercial Perversion. the only authorized Marine to wear dress blues at a graduation ceremony is the Honor Marine (one per graduating platoon).

    SSgt Butch D. sends

  • dude no video..... just pictures

  • Watching this hits my heart. I see that parade deck and those buildings in the background and I rememnber how my whole life was changed there. First watching my big brother graduate there in 1966 and then I graduated there in 1978. This Recruit Depot has a special place in my heart and always will. I love to go there now as an older man and experience the sounds there that never change with time.

    Semper Fi my brothers

    "0311" always

  • Thank you for your comment. I'm not sure that your "older". The best is yet to come.

  • I agree with you 110% this place changed my life, I graduated in 1994 but will never, never forget what the Marine Corps did for me, I still have all my uniforms and alot of other gear, every time I dump out my sea bag it brnigs back alot of good memories.

    Semper FI Marines!!

  • Wow, I had all my seabag stuff and uniforms in the attic and they disintegrated! lol I still have my bootcamp coverblock and battalion PT T-shirt and rubber namestamp but thats it. Oh, and I still hav the little bible they issued me in receiving barracks.

  • @LosAngeleno1959 What battalion were you in ? I was in 2nd battalion and would love to find a 2nd battalion PT shirt from the late 70's era..I graduated January 11, 1980

  • @jbr9029537 I was in 2nd Battalion and still have my Yellow T-shirt put away but it's pretty faded and it still has my name stamped on the inner neckband. Who were your DI's?

  • I was there! MY uncel turned to a Marine at 08! His name was Justin Fix :3

  • ive probably been told this in the past but how does a marine fresh fro basic on graduation day earn his dress blues for graduationday unlike the rest of the marines?

  • I don't htink they give them the reall dress blues. I tjink they give them something similar to Photo day.

  • on photo day they get a fake dress blue top that is a velcro kind of thing. its not the full dress.

  • everyone is given the blues uniform at boot camp. just not the blues jacket. it's not "earned", you just have to buy it on your own after boot, possibly because it's the only thing (to the best of my knowledge) that is never required to be worn for mandatory events. I'm not positive because I graduated when it was hot out, so no one wore the blues jacket, but it's possible the guides bought theirs before graduation.

  • their honor marines. there's always one from each training platoon . platoon leader that has the most responsibility over the platoon.

  • they most likely it get for being guidon for there platoon

  • @Marine101OORAH Each platoon pics a honor graduation and they get the dress blues and promotion to private first class

  • I believe the basic Dress Blues are available for purchase, they're damned expensive though.

  • He was the Honor Grad.

  • @Marine101OORAH they are given to him

  • I graduated from San Diego. Had green (Charlie) on family day and Blue (Delta) the next day on grad day. Only the "Guide" (Honor Grad) wears the full dress blues.

  • how does some one become a Honor Grad ?

  • be the guide for your platoon

  • Meaning TOp of the Class GUide/ Company Honor Man(LCpl)

  • you mean the guy with the flag in front of the platoon ??

    tnx for the reply...

  • why do they have blue pants???i saw marines from parris island graduate in green pants...

  • Depends on the weather

  • sure ;)

  • i'v come to the conclussion that this is the dress blues C uniform...i just didnt see any on parris island...just the service uniforms...

  • nope its the dress deltas not charlies

  • Great slideshow. God Bless that young Marine and his family.

I would only make 1 suggestion. Add music such as the Marine Corps Hymm to it. Beautiful photos otherwise.

    We Support You

    God Bless America

  • Yes, I have music with it on my MacBook. I just couldn't figure out how to upload it to YouTube with the music.

  • does all marines where that blue dress uniform when they graduated?

  • No, Danny graduated as a Honor Guard or something like that. He's recently received a meritorious promotion to corporal while in Afghanistan and is coming home on leave this month.

  • @Idanelle im pretty sure that only the guidon bearers wear the dress blue jacket

  • @Idanelle I am very proud of every Marines. I am going to become a Marine myself soon too. Semper Fi.

  • @Idanelle

Congrats to having him home! :)

  • PFC Picketts in this video/slide show just made corporal in less than 2 years. Congratulations, Danny!

  • I leave for boot camp next monday (May 11th). I'm hoping to graduate with honors or top of class, which ever. I can get a perfect IST, but on the PFT 3-Mile I'm short by like a minute and change. Anyone have any last minute advice on getting guide in boot camp?

  • Whatever you do, dont piss of your drill instructors. Show that you have heart and dedication and they will see that. U might even get promoted while at bootcamp for all your hard work. Work hard and if they ever need a volunteer for anything. Volunteer! They also go of whose bigger badder and who can handle the leader ship responsabilities. Good luck.

    PFC Martinez

    USMC

  • Thanks man, will do. I'm allready going in as a PFC though so I guess no rank promotion while in boot camp lol.

  • well NO SHIT! awesome good for you! i think their might be still the possabilty to get lance... i think.... im not sure. either way good luck! and i get promoted to lance in July! woot woot

  • dont be a dumbass be fast and yell kill kill kill alot

  • Give 110 percent, like when they smoke you, dont fake being tired.

    and

raise you hand fast if the di ask who wants to be the guide

  • How do you go in as a PFC? Im hoping to enlist in 2 and a half years, and Im just looking for any advise for before I go. The reason I want to know how you go in as PFC is cuz im hoping to be a scout sniper (high hopes) but watever.

  • do you graduate from boot camp

    with the dress blues???

  • No, one of my Marine son's did. He was a Guide and Honor Man.

  • if your guide, you graduate with dress blues, but cannot wear them until exactly one year later. if your not guide you graduate with Delta's or Charlies, one of those two (sorry its getting real late and im very exhausted just got home from 24 hr fitness)

  • um... i got to wear my dress blues whenever... i wore at my sisters wedding... as long as u wear them for FORMAL events you should be fine... And ofcourse if u have all your medals and badges in the right spot. Oorah!

  • Whats the guide do exactly?

  • Yes, they are. They turn heads every time.

  • Girls were checking me out after graduation I was not used to girls checking me out. I was really shy in high school.

  • the marines with the blues tops are the platoon and company honormen, and yes our uniforms are the best

  • To all the brotherhood of MARINES i want to toast this to every devil dog who ever wore the uniform

    1988/1992

  • I don't know.

  • My son was the Guide for his platoon.

  • why doesn't the graduating marines also wear the dark blue top with the belt on top too like the other marines?

  • why are some marines wearing the black top with the belt and others are wearing the tan top?

  • The Army has all of their shit on their unforms so they look cluttered. Marines have the best uniforms hands down.

  • By far the nicest uniforms in the U.S. Military. The army's class a's and b's are pretty nice too, but not as nice as the marines!

  • when u graduate from the marines do u have to wear the black top with red and bottum blue with red stripes?

  • No, only the guides and honor men wear those.

  • how do u becom an honor man

  • Be a leader, work harder, do more, pass the tests . . . You might want to contact other Marines to ask them. I'm just the mom and right now, my son, Lcpl. Picketts is in Afghanistan - still being the best.

  • its all up to the D.I's but you don't want to be the first guide because you will not make it all the way to the end of boot because if the platoon screws up on something you will get the ass chewing and the I.T.

  • u mean dress blues

  • Damn those are some nice uniforms

  • There's to us than uniforms.

  • Congrats Devil Dog, semper fi!

    Cpl Rendon

  • Very nice...check out my video. My brother made it for my son's graduation 4/08. Congratulations...

  • usmc all the way staff sergeant here platoon 1032 bravo company mess with the best die like the rest semper fi

  • Couldn't of said it better.

  • dam Marine are fuckin badass

just 1 more year and im joining

  • no I don't have a mac so I have no idea. sorry =(

  • This would of been more fun to watch wih some sound or music =( nice pictures though

  • I tried but it didn't happen when I posted it to YouTube. The slideshow was created on a Mac. Any suggestions on how to do that?

  • Try importing your pictures to iMovie then you can add a music track. Otherwise, the easiest way is to let YouTube do it by utilizing AudioSwap.

  • Guess I will have ask my girl friend in Parris Island when she graduates. One more year to finish up school then I am going in as well to be what the Parris Islanders call a "Hollywood Maine" though I am going to see what I can do to enlist on the other side of Mississippi so I can go to Parris Island.

  • I wish you all the best in the world no matter where you are.

  • Go MCRD San Diego. They got mountains there for you to hike up, with your 75lbs packs and rifle in hand. Or you can go EastCoast and hike on flat ground the whole time which is a walk in the park.

  • I a wondering why they are in blue and brown in San Diego but in green and brown in Parris Island.

  • I have no idea. I have another son who graduated from Parris Island. I don't remember what anyone else wore except him and he was in brown.

The Guides and Honormen get to wear dress blues in San Diego.

I heard the Parris Island Marines call the San Diego Marines "Hollywood Marines".

There is a huge difference in the appearance of the barracks. San Diego looks like a very tidy, albeit strict resort. Parrish Island the kind of buildings that looked like barracks.

    Hope you find your answer.

  • so um how did these men earn their dress blues bfore recruit training was over?

  • My son was Guide for his platoon and an Honor Graduate. Everything is earned, isn't it?

  • i was wondering how i could earn it

  • lol by being the shit through out boot camp, the top dog.

  • literally you must be the BEST at EVERYTHING.

  • Ill be there next year can't wait.

  • after special forces of course :)
