  • grandma bitch shift bro

  • grandma shift jajaja

  • it looks slow but prolly goes pretty good push that redline a little more!!!

  • i can do it now since i got the AP a few weeks ago..otherwise anything over 5k5 is just wasting gas..

  • @smulca01 a MS6 with a stock turbo, you actually see faster times when you shift at 5500 RPM, but I've seen other videos of upgraded turbos, and they all suggest shifting at redline.

  • maybe you should shift at redline instead of 5 grand

  • 5-6k is the best for mazda turbo car....

from6 to redline the car will lose boost.....

  • not impressed...

  • 0-60 is just over 5 secs by my count

  • i am thinking of doing another test run soon, just wondering if i should shift at 6k5 to achieve better acceleration time? Anyone did 1/4 mile launch experience care to chime in?

  • you need to shift each gear at 6K up to 4th gear when your in 5th gear shifting to 6th best shift is at 5800K rpms. but 1st thru 4th is 6K. I don't know if you were letting off in those shifts but my Stock MS6 seems way quicker than yours. And the Mazdaspeed CAI is known to add an extra plus15-20Whp.

feathering the clutch out around 42-4500K rpms and Try shifting exactly at 6K rpms every gear till 5th gear.

  • Aye, as robin said, shifting near or at redline is almost always what you should be doing for max. acceleration. I was wondering why you were shifting so early as I watched the vid.

    Good luck.

  • The turbo on these cars isn't meant for high rpm power. Yes, normally you would shift at redline, but in these you are better off shifting around 58-6K before the turbo runs out of steam. First is so quick you can definitely go all the way to redline.

  • Good point. I haven't done my fair share of research on turbos, superchargers, and other forms of forced induction, so I tend to forget that some peak their power curve a bit earlier than one might expect otherwise.

  • you're saying an RX8 LSD can't handle a high rpm launch? well it isn't dragster, but the front wheels do the pull first, and about 0.2 seconds later THEN the 50/50 kicks in. so you either aren't slipping the clutch for "one-one-thousand", or theres something else going on with your "fragile" differential. I launch hard @ 4500, slip the clutch and dont get those slams that are heard after the first shifts. They dont mean BANG gears when they say bang gears lol. no offense whatsoever.

  • damn dude- easy on the launch.. the rear differential on this thing is pretty fragile.. how is the cai working for you??

  • CAi is not working great :( . had a CEL on it with new firmware, so dealer is using old firmware on it right now, which has a more conservative power output. I have the rear diff mount from turbine tech here and installing it when i have the chance, I also had a new diff replaced under warranty 2 months ago. So everything should be ok. This video is just a test video. I am not going to drive like that unless i go to the track. Thanks for your comment : )

  • yea, i heard the car doesnt respond very well to a cai.. when i still had the car, i was lookin at that turbine tech diff mount.. looks like a pretty stout piece, good luck with it.. the car was definately alot of fun, and really a sleeper (well, mine was red, so not really lol) but people who dont know much about cars couldnt differentiate it from the regular 6..

  • agreed 100%! hahaha people "WHO DO NOT KNOW CARS" will not know what a speed6 is. I had one of my friends who basically knows the mechanics of cars, inside and out. But failed to even know what a mazdaspeed 3 or 6 is lol. Nice car tho, i love my speed6.
