To be honest you are a noob to think that. Granted they can take a helluva lot of damage, but it is all about the skills you play it with. I know a guardian friend who keeps getting owned and ganked because he tthought he was a brick wall. They also tend to have kinda crappy attacks 'til LVL 20 but you'll get there fine.
