  • This game blew everyone's socks off at the end of 1985/start of 1986 for the simple reason it was THE closest to an arcade machine available on any home micro.

If you weren't there at the time then you won't understand.

  • @makd1234 Yes.

  • I think level 9 or 10 was about as far as I ever got. I know I got past "Tungsten" for sure and level 10 looks familiar. I never did see the point of cheat modes.

  • I had this game but looking at it now, I can't see what the heck you were supposed to do! Just hover about and shoot things until you get the "land now" message? Or did you have to destroy a certain amount of things? I do remember the landing being very tricky.

  • Heres why i missed so many school lessons, damn you C64! No i love you really.

  • I've never understood why people rate this game's music so much. They must be hearing something that I'm not, because I think the title music is terrible.

  • gotta go with luddehall here, you are a very lame person for not having sprite collisions. we others suffered for this game.

  • the best game ........THX

  • Nice to see this old game again.... my favorite C64 game...

  • Awesome game

  • Being a Spectrum owner, I have to admit the C64 was technically way superior. The music is still impressive.

  • Does anyone remember the name of a C64 game where you were this stickman in space on some planet and you had to hunt down intergalactic roadrunners and stuff and lay traps for them and shit?

What's the name of thaC64 game where you were this stickman in space on some planet and you had to hunt down intergalactic roadrunners and stuff and lay traps for them and shit?

  • @roskildahphreak Cosmic Tunnels ?

  • @kleenefotze Nah! It was Star Paws. Can't remember any game called Cosmic Tunnels... maybe i'll check it out

  • its funny how little things give flash backs to distant past. just those sounds at the beginning led to all kinds of interesting memories and past feelings.

  • excellent, excellent.

i remember leaving the ship to spin around longer than it should at the start of the level just because it looked cool and sounded amazing!

along with paradroid maybe my two fav 64 games

  • this is.. suckmajor! no sprite collission?!?! how dare you post this?! you are an official lamer! take it from someone who never copleted 4th level.. tried and tried.. jeez!

  • @luddehall ... nor is this a real longplay that deserves that name!!! A longplay should include the FULL music not just start abruptly in-between.

  • The Atari 800xl had a version of this, called Mirax Force. Was bloody well ard!

  • The graphics are cool at some stages but actually the best thing with Uridium is the soundtrack. shoot em ups vere generally cool but its annoying the time it takes to turn in Uridium. 80's 4ever

  • @Chaanee If it was only the time! When I played on the real thing, I always CRASHED when I turned ;) But at least I had played from the *untrained* crack version. =)

  • Amg i remember the landing now !

Worst thing to clear the stage and loose at that :)

  • IMO Landing was always a bitch, but then having said that, the last time I played this game I think I was six years old so who knows what my problem was.

  • This game is a masterpiece of programming.

  • Never managed to finish it sadly!

  • According to the main programmer, Andrew Braybrook, the scrolling had a rate of 50 pics per second, making it one of the smoothest scrollings in C64 history, even if it already came out on 1985.

Oh and you can turn off the sprite collission via cartridge. That's what I did when completing the game (broke one of those stout Atari 2600 joysticks during gameplay).

  • No expert, eh? Aye, right ye are..!

Look pretty damned good from where I'm sitting. It's not the mines that get me, it's the random shots from attack waves that just appear on top of you, as well as having to learn the maze of ship structures to be avoided.

A truly great game, beautifully paced difficulty and not an end of level baddie to be seen. Rejoice!

  • My god!! Uridium!!

I remember biting my nails while this loaded for the first time -on cassette, lol.

  • Looking back at this game now it`s quite futeristic for it`s time.

  • Fuck me I remember that one! Classic.

  • lol it was a funkin belter my friend!

  • Man this brings back memories...

The structures were a lot more 3-dimensional somehow...or I just had a really good TV-set

  • Not bad at all!

I always get nailed by the Uridimines >=(
