And I especially love how the piano reaches it's deepest notes and yet still hold such serenity as if it were still hitting the mid and high notes. Such a masterpiece.
I don't know why, I tend to feel sad when I get to the cemetery in Trabia Garden, there's a guy there who lost his girlfriend, and he talks about how he tends to keep her warm when she was cold...and now he has to move on...
Then Selphie spoke to her fallen buddies, about how her dream of starting a concert come true...
I got to Ultimecia and Heartlessly spammed GFs, Limit Break, and Holy War....and perfect Renzokukens...
@gfskill2 I know exactly how you feel there. The entire time I was in Trabia Garden, I just couldn't help but feel sad at what they all were forced to go through simply because of the sorceress', otherwise known as Ultimecia, paranoia and thirst for power. Yet at the same time, I could also feel the hope and spirit to live coming when I walked around and saw how everybody tried to stay upbeat and did what they could to rebuild. A very touching scene that made us feel like we were in the game.
@TheSterni006 And if anything, you can buy it for the PSP off the Playstation store. The FFVIII for the PC has graphics problems if your PC system is too updated.

I don´t stop remembering this music...Actually FF series are quite like our lives: Being born somewhere, in a peaceful place, and then comes the problems (Shinra, or those witches, someone who wants to kidnap the princess), and then you have to grow up and understand that life is closer to fight and stress than to peace and contemplation.
I suppose that this people who made FFVIII tried to help us in that way...showing the best characters and scenery, this good music...
This is like a rearrangement of the balamb garden theme, which was my favorite song but I think i like this better... the harmonies are more drawn out and the loop has better resolve. Uematsu is a genius.
Though I really like SquallxRinoa, there's this teeny-tiny part of me that wants to chain Rin to the nearest wall and leave her there. Which is pretty much what happened since she hooked up with Squall. =P
Hey, nine was enjoyable! I loved having a throwback to the Final Fantasies of olde built on what they learned from seven and eight.
Ten and seven and twelve... Well, they're all nice and dandy, but not really what Final Fantasy's about. Neither was eight, really. I don't see why these games couldn't have stood on their own as separate IPs.
Poor thing, Eight. Always having to deal with the FF7-is-God crowd bullying it just because it was born with the wrong title...
@jaureguii I agree, I'm in a major search for every Final Fantasy before X. I managed to buy FF6 for PS1, I downloaded 5 for the PSP, I bought FF4 CC and I also got FF1 for PSP. FF7,8 and 9 (The unforgetable triology) are also on my PSP and I don't want anything else. Every Final Fantasy after X doesn't feel like a FF game anymore. The new Final Fantasies take away the imagination. They also took away the turn based combat and that meant the end of the old school FF's IMO.

@Anactofgod I agree. This game's soundtrack was phenomenal. Same with VI, and VII, and IX, and also X. Hell, all the Final Fantasies have amazing music. Why? Because of Nobuo Uematsu.
It's crazy how they use different instruments to play the same tune and manage to create music that sets the perfect mood for each scenario in the game. Sadly the music in the newer final fantasies dont even come close.
I know a lot of people gave this game nothing but grief, hell, even I hated it on my first playthrough. What really began to win me over was the music. To date, FF8 has the best soundtrack out of the entire series. After a while, I decided to give the game a second go and it grew on me more and more as I continued to play. After a 3rd(!) round with the game, I have to say that it's one of the better titles in the series. It ranks up there with 4, 6, 7, & 10 and I'm glad I played it!

I always took this as the general friendship theme of Final Fantasy 8. One of my favorite aspects of the game was how they developed the group bond, rather than it being solely focused on just Squall and Rinoa.
@XxHammerfallxX This Is Generally though of as being Selphie's theme, so it plays at moments when she is involved. A notable time is when Irvine tries to cheer her up before they start planning the Garden Festival.
This song always put a tear in my eyes, it always takes me back to Trabia Garden. The students are doing their best to make things work helping each other out, and when I step into the cemetary it totally breaks my heart seeing the small things there that showed that the deceased are truly missed by the ones who survived. T^T
@Shogunelite now that you mention that point about the graveyard, and how heartbreaking a sight it is, did anyone else think that, the fact that draw point above the graves was zombie, was a bit... insensitive? Maybe its just me, i just found that a bit strange.
Most FF have love hinted in there, from FF IV (classical) to FFVIII and FFIX (persistence) to X (random and a little awkward) to a lot of deceased memories (FF VI). I guess it comes down to if you lie the girl flirting (Rinoa) or the guy flirting (Zidane) to which is the best of the love themes.
@paradiddle953 hmm, I think that the theme of love may have felt a bit stronger in 8 than in 9 (in my personal opinion) because of how hard rinoa had to try to get through to squall, and how much they go through together. As in, the coming-of-age part of the story for squall is massively centred around rinoa.
of course at the end of it it's donw to opinion, and I liked ff8 and played through it much more than 9, so I'm slightly biased ><
of course selphe is that amiable type, she was my favorite character. i often call my little sis selphie and i like seeing hr reaction when she says "Im not selphie!" even though her reaction is the exact same as selphies when she is upset XD
@Necromortis61 It is a lot about love, but this isn't really a love song, it's a friendship song. The game also emphasizes a lot on true friendship the most out of all the Final Fantasies I have played, hence, the name of the song, Ami, which means friend in French :)

Cloud, Zack Fair (for fair weather), Squall (and it's not because of the river, but because of its emotions, though it does have a connection with water, like Laguna, lagoon, and Raine, rain in french), Éclair/Lightning (for clear sky, I guess), Tidus /Tiida (it means sun), Snow (it has to be a connection with Lightning, I suppose) and/or Sora from KHs (sky in japanese)...
Really, Yuna's story w/ Tidus was way more clever. I think most peopole just think what you think because 8 has a greater fanbase. FFX also had the better story generally IMO. Squall was way too boring, he was upsetting in a 2d game.

In FF10 it was very ovbious that Yuna was In love with Tidus almost instantly.
Rinoa was clearly in love with Seifer for the whole part of the first disc and was strongly aginst Squall killing him and fighting him, after the first disc all of a sudden Rinoa completely forgets about/gives up on Seifer and he is almost never brought up again I felt S&R's love story to be rushed/told badly.
@rvv81seven tbh it just depends or your taste though. not saying you're wrong just saying I like 8 better than 10 however I feel the sadness of 10s story cut deep and I don't consider X2 an actual sucessor to it even though it is, in my mind tidus is a dream and yuna is still heart broken because I find it much more poetic of an ending than X2

It's crazy how they use different instruments to play the same tune and manage to create music that sets the perfect mood for each scenario in the game. Sadly the music in the newer final fantasies dont even come close.

I know a lot of people gave this game nothing but grief, hell, even I hated it on my first playthrough. What really began to win me over was the music. To date, FF8 has the best soundtrack out of the entire series. After a while, I decided to give the game a second go and it grew on me more and more as I continued to play. After a 3rd(!) round with the game, I have to say that it's one of the better titles in the series. It ranks up there with 4, 6, 7, & 10 and I'm glad I played it!

I always took this as the general friendship theme of Final Fantasy 8. One of my favorite aspects of the game was how they developed the group bond, rather than it being solely focused on just Squall and Rinoa.

This song always put a tear in my eyes, it always takes me back to Trabia Garden. The students are doing their best to make things work helping each other out, and when I step into the cemetary it totally breaks my heart seeing the small things there that showed that the deceased are truly missed by the ones who survived. T^T

Most FF have love hinted in there, from FF IV (classical) to FFVIII and FFIX (persistence) to X (random and a little awkward) to a lot of deceased memories (FF VI). I guess it comes down to if you lie the girl flirting (Rinoa) or the guy flirting (Zidane) to which is the best of the love themes.

@paradiddle953 hmm, I think that the theme of love may have felt a bit stronger in 8 than in 9 (in my personal opinion) because of how hard rinoa had to try to get through to squall, and how much they go through together. As in, the coming-of-age part of the story for squall is massively centred around rinoa.
of course at the end of it it's donw to opinion, and I liked ff8 and played through it much more than 9, so I'm slightly biased ><

@Necromortis61 It is a lot about love, but this isn't really a love song, it's a friendship song. The game also emphasizes a lot on true friendship the most out of all the Final Fantasies I have played, hence, the name of the song, Ami, which means friend in French :)

@Meiro9k Actually, all protagonist designed by Nomura are named with some reference to the sky. Cloud, Zack Fair (for fair weather), Squall (and it's not because of the river, but because of its emotions, though it does have a connection with water, like Laguna, lagoon, and Raine, rain in french), Éclair/Lightning (for clear sky, I guess), Tidus /Tiida (it means sun), Snow (it has to be a connection with Lightning, I suppose) and/or Sora from KHs (sky in japanese)...

Really, Yuna's story w/ Tidus was way more clever. I think most peopole just think what you think because 8 has a greater fanbase. FFX also had the better story generally IMO. Squall was way too boring, he was upsetting in a 2d game.

Laguna and Julia were closer almost, their was a short story but I like the way Squall and Rinoa get together when Julia and Squall get together. LOVE FFVIII but the battle system ruined it. @rvv81seven I like ffVIII way more than FFX but in the case of Rinoa and Squalls love I'd say I disagree.
In FF10 it was very ovbious that Yuna was In love with Tidus almost instantly.
Rinoa was clearly in love with Seifer for the whole part of the first disc and was strongly aginst Squall killing him and fighting him, after the first disc all of a sudden Rinoa completely forgets about/gives up on Seifer and he is almost never brought up again I felt S&R's love story to be rushed/told badly.

@rvv81seven tbh it just depends or your taste though. not saying you're wrong just saying I like 8 better than 10 however I feel the sadness of 10s story cut deep and I don't consider X2 an actual sucessor to it even though it is, in my mind tidus is a dream and yuna is still heart broken because I find it much more poetic of an ending than X2
