  • I'd say it's a good rule of thumb, but it depends on each herb! Reishi, for instance, would not be fully exracted at all in this time. So while some oils may be destroyed, others won't even be extracted yet. I'd say ideally, heat but not to boiling slowly, and then pour off, to get the delicate nutrients. Then cook for quite a while longer, at least simmering, to extract more locked in nutrients

  • whats your thoughts about chinese medicine doctors saying the herbs must be soaked in cold water 20 mins, cook 20 mins, new water cook 20 mins. cooking anymore than 40 mins will start destroying certain oils. any thoughts Elwin?
