@gtrwarnock It's because they wanted to stick with a design that worked and improve on it. There is a reason why Porsche is the "benchmark". How many times have you heard someone say: "I beat a Porsche today....", "It's faster then a Porsche..", "It has more HP then a Porsche." It's because Porsche sets the bar for what a sports car should be. That "shitty" flat 6 engine has won more endurance races and racing titles from cars with larger capacity motors. Try driving one, you might "get it".
