On pourrait avoir la traduction en Français? Si un Italien me lit...
Naturally there can be a dark underbelly to nationalism-- both identity and diversity are great gifts to any country! No one wants to fly a flag that says "generic." Economic dominance of the biggest, strongest, wealthiest is inevitable without a strong sense of cultural and economic independence. Interdependence is a fact of life-- but identity and independence are crucial. Maybe we need a production of Nabucco at the theater of Herodias Atticu to remind of all kinds of oppression.
Greetings from the officially ocupied Greece. Our parliament just voted the new moratorium... Oh mia patria si bella e perduta... Freedom to Europe!!!!!
Viva Italia-- and may we all be stirred, heartened, and provoked by this incredible moment. We must all in our varied and rich cultures-- value the arts and our artists -- those well known and not as well known. We are all certainly in the captivity of a world that culturally would be just as much of a whore-monger as Berlusconi. Let's find our roots, our voices, our souls--
It was beautiful. For how long will we be able to hold on our roots and traditions?, both Roman and Hellenic with the muslim threat that is spreading so fast and we do nothing. At times I wish we had a Mussolini and Metaxa that could wake us up, these were patriots that loved their country.
Thank you Italy for this inspiring message for every European country.
We should not renounce our rich cultural heritage, while defending our right to a humanistic society, and striving to eliminate the cancer in our society created by speculators.
When talking about slavery, freedom and social justice (especially after listening to “VA PENSIERO" in Verdi’s Nabuco) I recommend to the Italian people to visit the Arch of Titus in Rome and observe it very carefully. The Arch of Titus is a 1st-century honorific arch located on the Via Sacra, Rome, just to the south-east of the Roman Forum. It was constructed in c.82 AD by the Roman Emperor Domitian shortly after the death of his older brother Titus
to commemorate Titus' victories, including the Siege of Jerusalem in 70 AD.
It provides contemporary depictions of Temple period artifacts including the seven branched menorah and trumpets are clearly depicted. It became a symbol of the Jewish Diaspora. In a later era, Pope Paul IV made it the place of a yearly oath of submission.

If there were 100.000 Germans armed in the italian way -the same manner as the greek one, two both poor armies- facing 360.000 Greeks heavily entrenched in the mountains of Epyrus, I don't think the "superior fighting quality" of the blondhaired Germans would have destroyed the Greek army. See Gallipoli, what happened in the First World War between Anglo-French vs. Turks. You Greeks were so superior in number the Italians had to retreat fast. But when our troops arrived you conquered nothing.
Moments like this make me regret that we, Greeks, won the war against Italy back in the 40s. We would still be a poor nation, but we would be given the chance to celebrate our patriotism in such a devine way. Good luck Italy, your culture deserves it
@Civisreggianus well dear friend, First of all you failed to grasp the real meaning of what I sent. I really don't care who won any war or why. Second, from historical perspective, we DID win the war against your Armani-wearing- rifle-carrying-opera-singers. And then, some time after this, we lost to Germany. And THEN, after some time, the Allies DID liberate us. But who cares. I'm talking about VERDI for fuck's sake. Jesus. What are you? A Lazio fan?
Sure, I am an "armani wearing opera singer". Thanks for the pathetic-british-propaganda Corelli's mandolin, only a greek can believe that :D
You "won" only in the beginning of the Italian invasion when we had 5 division and you 18, and you pushed back italians in Albania until our reinforcements arrived. Now I don't give a fuck about that war, we were allied with the nazis, so that's only shameful. Yet you didn't liberate Greece from the Germans and Italians alone.
By the way Verdi was from my region (Parma, near Reggio Emilia) and was a composer who wanted the Italian unification (Risorgimento). Although I do not support the current Berlusconi government and I consider him a SHAME for my country, certainly Verdi has nothing to share with fascism or with the present political situation of Italy.
It's better for you Greeks to deal with your debt as we must do too, and remember you NEVER BEAT the Italians. Only pushed back in Albania.
In the mountainous front of the Epyrus there were then over half a milion Italian troops facing the same number of Greek troops. When the Germans attacked north in Thessaly there was few or nothing Greek resistance. So of course the Italians would have had a hard affair to conquer Greece alone, but you can't certainly say "you won". Casualties were pretty the same in both armies and many for freezing. And remember the Italian occupation of Greece was much lighter than German one.
"I'm Italian. I travel around the world and now I am ashamed for what is happening in my country, and therefore (- to the audience) I accept your plea for a repeat! - Not only for patriotic content, but in conducting the words" Oh my beautiful country lost "I think that if we continue thus, destroy the culture that forms the basis of historical Italy. In this case, our country is really lost." Then he said: "I Motti I remained silent for years. Now I want to give real meaning to this song.
Someone please help. I would like to know what Maestro says before his performance. I am Italian but unfortunately my family never conversed in Italian so I don't understand. Please, I would like to know.
L'ho guardato, "sentito", vissuto. Poi ho scorso i commenti.
Michele Lena - Venezia (e prossimamente Minas Gerais Brasile)
This made me cry. One of the most thrilling pages of opera literature expressed a contemporary meaning here. Molto bravissimo to the brave conductor. I strongly doubt something like this would happen in USA where opera becomes more and more elitist and inaccessible to people due to astronomical cost and degrading tastes of the public.
We have lost the bearing, profit before innovation, culture, science and research. Sadly the idiot of the village has become king and made us believe through lies that he held the key to all of our ailments, at least long enough to grab hold to whatever riches he could get hands on, just to finally realize that they all turned to dust. It is not just Italia, it is the world... Waking up is difficult from the self imposed slumber that we slept into.
NO MORE schiavitù. BELLA CORO, GRANDE MUTI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!. COMPLIMENTI

And THEN, after some time, the Allies DID liberate us. But who cares. I'm talking about VERDI for fuck's sake. Jesus. What are you? A Lazio fan?
MagicFlute33 5 months ago
@MagicFlute33
Civisreggianus 5 months ago
@MagicFlute33
Civisreggianus 5 months ago

L'ho guardato, "sentito", vissuto. Poi ho scorso i commenti.
