I have heard that Gene and Paul own the rights to all things KISS including Ace and Peters images and I always wondered why both didn't secure ownership of at least their own images when they left the band so that if the band wanted to use their likeness they would have to pay for rights. Looks like when they got back together for their reunion tour both Ace and Peter were nothing more then paid employees of Gene and Paul, who both apparently are better businessmen then the other two.

They were basically "employees" when they did the reunion tour. That's why they both eventually left, AGAIN! Pete was far more vocal about it than Ace. In Peter's own words, "it's gotta be fair baseball". I am not dumping on Gene and Paul, Peter is actually my favorite KISS member.Just hate to see the band as the mockery it is now.
Just for the record: this is taken from a Dutch TV show from 1979 but it's footage from the US Dynasty tour. KISS were never in the Netherlands in 1979; they didn't tour Europe again (the first tour being in 1976) until the following year and that was without Peter - Eric Carr being the new drummer at that point.

Ace is just haveing fun but he is drinking as well. Peter is not drunk. I have seen Pete drunk. He just leans on people sometimes when he is talking. He was just having a good time. When Pete is drunk or high you will know it.

They left because Paul and Gene said KISS was retireing and drew in a lot of fans to see them and it wasn't fair to go back on tour after the retirement tour. So when the tour was over Peter and Ace said goodby and started their own thing again. I love KISS but I see their point.
@01artist: Ace left because he was exhausted and was tired of touring on a farewell tour with no end in sight. Peter WANTED to come back after the our finally ended and his contract wasn't renewed. Gene and Paul said it was because it he was MIA and couldn't be reached and when Peter posted on his website that it was a lie, Paul called him and told him he was being let go because their camp felt he was too old to keep up and they wanted to go in a different direction which was a bunch of crap.
I was just posting what ACE has said many times since he last left. As for Pete, I love him todeath but I have to be honest here. Pete is not playing like he used to. After all he studied under Gene Krupa and everyone knows that he is a jazz drummer and jazz drummers do not whale away like a rock drummer. I just wish Ace would have brought Frehleys Comet to KISS. KISS got more mature and ACE wanted to stay the same as 1978. I am glad they got Thommy and Eric. KISS KICKS ASS on stage anyways.

I have to agree with northwind's statement below. Ace and Peter were the original bad boys of Kiss and they had a big part in forming the Kiss-sound. But they fucked up! Twice! If you've ever been in a touring band you now how hard it is to do good performances every night even without people getting high or drunk. Kiss was one of the biggest bands on the planet - and TWO of the members were constantly fucked up, embarissing the band in interviews and on stage. Awful.

Ace is ok and I think that Pete's solo record was maybe the most comercial of the time if they would have promoted it beter. That type of music was hot on the dance floor. RnB is always in style but it is not KISS enough. I think they all do great on certain songs. They suer can sing the hell out of the Who and Led Zep.

You are right there! Revenge was their best album ever imho. I have listened to KISS since 1976, so I guess I can be considered a longtime fan. Destroyer is a very close second. But on any given day, I say that Animalize or Asylum are their best. I guess those 4 I loved the most. As for stage show, I prefer the original guys in makeup. But if you want musicianship onstage? Gene Paul, Eric (Singer or Carr), and Bruce.

You are right there! Revenge was their best album ever imho. I have listened to KISS since 1976, so I guess I can be considered a longtime fan. Destroyer is a very close second. But on any given day, I say that Animalize or Asylum are their best. I guess those 4 I loved the most. As for stage show, I prefer the original guys in makeup. But if you want musicianship onstage? Gene Paul, Eric (Singer or Carr), and Bruce.
