Cute, my turtle has a running feud right now with a ceramic turtle my mother brought home from Spain. (It is a very colorful ceramic turtle, we think he thinks it's another male. X3) You're lucky to have such a great Russian, we once took in a lost Russian and he would break into the tortoise enclosures we had at the time to harrass them. Luckily we found a new home for him.

if someone is still interested in this vid im gonna clear it up. First: That turtle never "thought" that fake was real. But usually your hand is feeding him. so he always gets interested in things a human hand is holing, because usually that means food.

Second: turtles dont really "think". they move through instinct. some turtles have so strong instincts that the want to eat everything a human hand is holding. even if they would never eat it if it lay on the ground.

PurpleJayd: Thanks for the comment. Hermanns are mostly captive bred, while the majority of russian tortoises are wild caught. Captive bred ones (no matter which species it is) are usually easier to manage. They are more adapted to the captive environment and have less parasites.

Yes I am Japanese. Russian Tortoises go for around 6,000 to 10,000 yen. You can get them at many (but not all) large pet stores. Of course, it is probably better to get them at stores that specialize in reptiles (e.g. HACHURUI club@Nakano in the Tokyo area and TortoiseStyle@Kadoma in the Osaka area). Are you thinking of getting one?

We actually got our from a reptile store in Kashiwa, but they closed their store some time ago.. I think a pet store chain called Kanedai can be found througout chiba (google with "kanedai"). The one in Nakano can be found by a google search with "hachikura" or a google maps search with their phone number "0332275122". If I were you, I would make the trip to hachikura even if I might not buy one there. Their collection is extensive, and just fun to watch.

We put large colored marbles, and a small round mirror for her to play with. She pushes the marbles everywhere with her feet and her nose. I love watching your videos!
