  • I love you Patrick Wilson

  • Carrie Underwood is the only one I've heard singing this that even comes close to Ellen Greene. Patrick Wilson, well, I've loved his voice ever since I heard him sing in "Phantom of the Opera". Kudos to both of these talented singers!

  • Sorry if you've answer this one HUNDRED times, but what is this from? Not the song. I know it's from Little Shop. Why did Patrick and Carrie sing it?

  • she sucks. Doesn't understand the character

  • Fuck me rigid! Nite-Owl sings!!

  • OMG he just earned 20 more HOT points for being able to sing!!! Never knew. So are they doing this on Broadway? hmmmmm wonder how her acting is....

  • Why can't I figure out what I've seen him in...

OH SHIT! Is that Nite Owl from Watchmen?! Well I will be damned...

  • @Crowster12781 and he was roul in phantom of the opera. and the dad in insidious lol

  • i didn't realize how great Carrie Underwood was until listening to this

  • now that's what I'm talking about...Carrie you go girl, Ellen Green would be pround to hear you version of this song. **Kudos**

  • Carrie is such a chameleon! I swear she can sing anything she wants to!! i love her..and of course, i love patrick, that's a given ;)

  • Carrie nailed this. Not to mention, she harmonizes better than even Ellen Greene. Unfortunately, Greene, with her fabulous pipes, outshines her duet partners.

  • Carrie nailed this.

  • Mmm...Patrick Wilson. He's so amazing. And very handsome as well.

  • I love when Carrie sings musical theatre!

  • 7 people were suddenly eaten by audrey 2.

  • i love carrie underwood!

  • I just wish Patrick Wilson would've not used his AMAZING opera voice for a role that is supposed to be timid and have a little straight-tone. I love his voice, though...

And Carrie... Easily the best Audrey ever... aside from the great Ellen Green, of course.

  • They are not trying to duplicate the original song, they are covering it. So comparing it to ANY other performance is DUMB. I for one am not a singer, but these two made this song sound amazing. All of you other people who are making negative comments on this video are probably wannabe singers or "know it all" types. Get over yourself and enjoy the music for what it is. This is a beautiful recording of an amazing song. I would like each one of you negative peeps to get up there and try this!

  • Amazing! That girl has got some range!

  • Awesome! Almost as good as Ellen Greene

  • wow, i am pretty surprised at how good this is!

  • I'm not a fan of her lack of control. He's brilliant though.

  • they look like an awesome couple

  • that is honestly the first female vocalist I've heard who can come close to Greene. Most simply don't have the power -- and she comes very close. I think Greene just owned that song so much, that it's hard for anyone to compete. But both do a great job trying.

  • @RFouts0 I agree with you 100%. And unlike some who have said she didn't put much emotion into it, would only have to see the Mandy Moore version to compare for wishy-washyness and lack of soul. (Nothing against Mandy, I think she is a good singer, just never should have even attempted this song.)

  • @RFouts0

My thoughts exactly! Greene has such a rare texture to her voice which is very difficult to duplicate. Underwood is the closest I've heard yet to come ANYWHERE close to the power and dynamics of Greene's performance.

I'm glad they tackled this one! Having performed it myself, I KNOW how tricky it is, and how much to be admired those who nail it truly are! Great cover.

  • Carrie sings the HECK out of this. You go girl.

  • she sound like she should be in a choir because she is off the chain good

  • WOW! That was amazing on both parts.

  • Carrie sounds awesome singing broadway. :)

  • Carrie has great soul in her voice for a country artist, I love it!

  • Do you hear that Carrie Underwood? That is Broadway CALLING YOUR NAME!!!! LoL

  • she's gorgeous, as always.

  • Comment removed

  • THIS IS FIERCE!@!!!

  • This was great. If anyone ever doubted this American Idol winner they would have to shut it now. This is the show stopper of the musical. It needed a power voice. Carrie brought it. And to sing with male powervoice Patrick Wilson and hold her own, while sick. Big Props for Ms. Underwood.

  • you know whats even funny tho. Carrie Underwood didnt win but no one cares that she didn't even tho shes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy better than whoever did win. She's amazing.

  • @quickydmagicmexi actually, she did win

  • Comment removed

  • @quickydmagicmexi She did win. Bo Bice was the runner up.

  • @AliKey I already acknowledged that in a previous comment before you start saying stuff like that check on the fact that right above you there was a comment that apologized for the fact that I made a mistake in saying she hadn't won

  • Haha, I miss the man-ish voice of the original Audrey. Love this version though!

  • his voice makes my heart go all ga ga. you can NOt help but love him! the end

  • After seeing the show and being the theatre geek I am, I didn't like this version, though they have good voices. Just not for something like this.

  • She sounds better in this version than the one with that adam guy

  • This version is INCREDIBLE, I can't stop listening to it. Is there any way to make it a little louder, though? I just hate having to put both volumes all the way up :(

  • Gave me goosebumps.

  • Patrick Wilson can sing the f***k out of this.....so can she. That was damn good! Patrick's too sexy to play Seymour though. However, I didn't even know he was a singer until I saw him in Phantom Of The Opera -- I had no clue.

  • Carrie was sick when she did this. That's why her tone sounds lower. Not as "soprano-ish" as usual.

  • @mellynumerounoo

Poor thing. I know what that feels like. Right now, actually. It SUCKS. I think she nailed it for the fact that she was sick. I CAN hear it, in the weakness, but she definitely pulled it off.

The mark of a true professional. I hope she gave her voice lots of rest and had lots of honey-lemon tea afterward.

  • Ellen's got a great character voice, but in my opinion, it can get a little annoying at times. (Please don't attack me!) I prefer Carrie's voice for this song.

  • This was performed @ JALC and I was working this show (in the lobby of the theatre) and you could hear her belting throughout the whole place! It was incredible!!!

  • this is why carrie should do broadway this is soo amazing....of course no one can beat ellen and kerry with this song but she deff is in 3rd to them please go to bway carrie

  • She sounds amazing! Spectacular! She's singing the crap out of it!

  • @lindblom I saw her on Heroes as Syler's mother

  • YAY finally someone not singing it oin Broadway, doing this song some justice !!!!!!!!! <3

  • Carrie sounds good. It is just hard to accept any other versions other than Ellen Green and Kerry Butler.

  • i dont think E. Green and K. Butler did it better than her and R. Moranis. by her voice maturing, it sounded better in the movie version. not to mention that endless last note. the Butler version was great but she topped herself in the movie.

  • Carrie sang excellently, but Ellen Green sung the f*ck out of the original....no one can sing it like her

  • Not only did Ellen Green sing the F*ck out of it in the movie, she is the Original Audrey from the Original Play. When casting, the part of Audrey wasn't even considered. her performance in the play could not be topped. and her voice matured soo much that she topped her original recordings on the broadway sound track. SO where is she now?

  • wooo! go Ellen!

  • She did better than Mandy Moore, but erred on the opposite side, she's belting too much.

  • This is not a country song and I don't know why Carrie Underwood is singing it like one.

Patrick Wilson on the other hand, dominates and still manages to capture the Seymour character in his singing.

I will admit that Carrie has a great belt.

  • Shut up. She's a great singer. And she's not singing it like country.

  • I'm not saying she's a bad singer, but her style doesn't suit this song.

She's certainly not singing it like it's supposed to be sung.

  • Not to be rude, but I'm almost 98% certain it says Broadway Meets Country on that sign behind them.

    Just a heads up.

  • Yes, okay, but she's not getting into the character, whereas Patrick Wilson is.

That's mostly what I'm complaining about. She's got a great voice, but for this part she needs to tone it down for bits of the song.

  • Carrie Belted because Ellen (who set the standard for Audrey in the Original Broadway and Movie) belted from the end of her first verse to the last note. I actually like Carrie's Modulated Voice version of this song better but they are both cool

  • One of my favorites from Carrie! She nailed that! But I feel bad for Patrick and the back ups...Carrie dominated them!

  • now this is carrie!!!! thanks for this version!!

  • she sings it differently. really good but still i like ellen better :)

  • Thanks for posting the real audio! I like Carrie on this....

  • WOW

man, carrie can sing :) haha

    Patrick is amazing also.

  • This versions sooo good.

but i do think it's a bit showy. i'd of much preferred it without the backing singers at the end.

  • Carrie did amazing I listened to Ellen Greene sing it, and Carrie is better! Just saying! CARRIE CAN SINGGGGG! She can flat hit those notes, I would die if I could hit them! XD Great job, Carrie!

  • I really really enjoyed this! Ellen Greene's my favorite Audrey, and Hunter Foster is my favorite Seymour (though I have a big soft spot for Rick Moranis), but these two did great. I LOOOOOOOOVE Patrick Wilson's voice (please come back to Broadway!), and Carrie did fabulous too! Belt it, girl!

  • They NEED to record!!!!!!

  • this is amazing!!!

  • wow...that was awesome

  • i love carrie's belting range. melts my heart....

  • I like that Carrie sings it like the original cast recording. I hate the version in the movie! Well, hate is a strong word... I'm not a fan or it.

  • lol Yeah, I'm not a fan of it either -- they slowed it down or something, right? Also Ellen Greene's vocals are kind of too worked over in the movie version. The original cast recording is much better.

  • get it Carrie!

  • If what Ellen Greene did in the cast recording was what it was meant to be, then I think it's totally ok for Carrie to belt out the whole song. It sounded great to me.

  • this is good, but for the begining (at least) they seem a bit afaraid to get into it and "feel the music" so to speak. Still a huge fan of both of these wonderful singers!

  • I don't think she was that great. The girl who played Audrey in my school play did a much better job. She happens to be sister of the Herbal essences girl - just a random fact.

  • this is the second best version of this song i have ever heard. the best is the original Broadway version... yes im a nerd but Carrie did and amazing job here, i didnt like Ellen that much and Carrie is an amazing singer

  • Listen to the original. Carrie does an outstanding job hitting the range that Ellen Greene did. And that's no small feat.

  • @flatwins Wow - Carrie Underwood actually has some power and range, this was really pretty impressive. She does'ent have the power or range of Kerry Ellis or Idina Menzel, but she has more money ! I'd love to hear her sing Defying Gravity or something from WICKED.

  • @flatwins thankfully, she did it better than greene, who made my earbuds bleed out of sheer terrible-ness

  • Um, yeah... this was for a benefit thing. It was supposed to just be fun :)

  • no guys,

    she is NOT shouting.

she's belting it out, and rocking at it.

    i love this version.

its amazing that people like to sing this song.

  • this is the one cover i've heard when the female voice is extremely close to ellen greene's voice.... maybe if adam pascal and carrie underwood sang it, that would be a good combo. don't get me wrong, mandy moore's awesome but maybe not for this song.

  • Raoul!!!

  • WOW!!! they both sound amazing!!! =D

  • i love carrie alot but wit this she dont have the emotion thaty goes wit this song

  • Comment removed

  • Emotion? Erm, yeah. This is a satire. This character is singing this to a guy that just killed her satist, dentist boyfrien and fed him to an alien plant! Hello! McFly! If you mean she didn't take it over the top and make it satirical then yeah, okay, but she's not an actress either. You guys crack me up. Emotion. LOL

  • no i dont mean she didn t take it over the top she did take it there wat im saying is that i dont feel the emotional attachment that is supposed to go wit this song u dont feel it

  • Seymour did NOT kill her sadistic dentist boyfriend! He attempted to but the dentist ended up laughing himself to death!

  • He sounds boring when he sings this song

  • I don't think she's shouting, guys. It's Broadway. You're allowed [sometimes recommended] to belt. It's not a collegiate choir, it's a Broadway show. Carrie was just doing what she does best, which is a country style belt. Ellen Green was doing what she did best in her portrayal, which was the "wilting flower." Really guys... it's okay.

  • This is just shouting really. She goes quiet . . . the suddenly your ears are bleeding.

Maybe because she was the first I saw, but I can't see anyone else but Ellen Greene in this role . . .

  • I understand that. Ellen Green was amazing. But I don't think Carrie was trying to cover, imitate, or outdo her. It was just for a fun event, and if you ask me, they weren't being characters. They were just singing to the best of their abilities, and showcasing their strong points.

  • wow. coming from a personal who knows musical theatre well, i dont think this shouty, screamy or anything else people have been saying as comments! i think carrie sounds amazing, and her belt is so full and clear. she was outstanding.

  • she is shit !!!

can not hit the high notes !

  • @lynchy25252 Uh, she hit all of the notes. The highest in this is just a belted C#. Carrie has belted a G, which is almost half an octave higher. Try again.

  • love patrick wilson and carrie underwood. but she did over sing this. as a pairing, i don't think they we're matched well at all. mandy moore and adam pascal sang it better!

  • adam pascal and mandy moore are both fantastic singers. but mandy moore singing this song sounds sort of like a pop song, she doesnt have enough LIFE for it. i think carrie underwood compared to mandy moore does a better job for this song because she has the crazy volume and energy thats needed. but as a pair patrick wilson and carrie underwood arent good together.

  • I agree, the female part needs more oomph than mandy more can give it

  • you should see my friend sing this! AMAZING!

  • 3:04 / 3:05 are amazing.

  • I really don't care for Carrie singing this song. I prefer Kerry Butler's and Hunter Foster's version (Broadway 2003). Carrie sounds too country, not like she's been living in New York all her life, like Audrey is supposed to be. She also belts the entire time. Audrey is supposed to be somewhat timid, since she hasn't been treated right for her entire life. Patrick is fine though, maybe not nerdy enough.

  • she does belt the whole time, but i still think she sounds good 'cause she added her own touch to it..

and patrick is just amazing :)

  • You're right. Carrie's got a great country voice, but the woman should steer clear of Broadway (unless it's Annie, Get Your Gun).

  • Not supposed to belt it? Make sure not to tell Ellen Greene (original Audrey) that.

  • carrie did a wonderful job..but this role IS ellen greene's. no one can sing it like her.

  • My God, i love Carrie Underwood. She sang this so well

  • Is this that guy from Hard Candy and the Phantom of the Opera???

  • Yes, it is. That is Mr. Patrick Wilson.

  • Yup. the guy with the angel voice.

  • He has what I call, "swoonability." :)

  • Swoonability. I like it!

  • I call it a lot of things. xD

  • She does have a good voice, but there's no build, it's all brass and fire! Audrey's the sort of character that needs picked off the floor, but she's practically in bed with Seymour already lol

  • I totally understand that, but I like how this is a different version of the song. I mean, people do switched up arrangements of musical songs all the time. I like the firey version a lot, actually. But yes, if she was doing it on Broadway/in the movie, she'd need to start with a lot more, "wilting flower."

  • i thought it was really good..

  • amo muito os dois, eles tem muito talento

  • carrie is great!

  • She's not bad! But no way can anyone top Sheridan Smith.

  • She sings nicely but there is ZERO light and shade haha it's all blast, he could blast her ass off, but he still tries to act it

  • OMGGGG

Carrie has a great voice....but please....don't sing Broadway until you know how to sing it without shouting...

  • Why is she screaming?

  • Didn;t think Mandy was THAT bad but this is way better.

  • Thank you Carrie for showing Mandy Moore how it was supposed to sound.

  • haha yeah mandy sucked it up with adam pascal. i expected a little more from her

  • Mandy did a good job in this song...she sounded more like audrey in the movie because she was soft spoken and high pitched...carrie did good but she was extremely too strong for this song

  • I absolutely agree!

  • I agree. I love this song, and she did a good job, but her voice is just too...big.

  • great version!!

  • Where is this song performed at? Because the recording of this song sounds like it was performed at a tony awards or something.

  • Incredible. Perfect. I want this on my ipod.

  • Woo! Go Carrie, that was amazing!

  • I'm a huge Little Shop fan and though they both sang well, I really don't feel they did the song justice. Admittedly, it was better than the Mandy Moore/Adam Pascal version, but the characterization was just not there, the emotion behind the words. Singing wise it was accurate and quite good, but could have been better overall.

  • u should listen to ariana grandes version shes only 14...shes unbelieveable!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree completely. =)

  • fierce!

  • whoa, nite owl can sing =D

  • Only when no one's watching.

    Insert canned laughter.

  • She Kicked the crap out of this song. Love It.

  • its hard candy the movie.

  • what movie stuff has that guy been in? he looks familiar.

  • Phantom Of the Opera. he was Raul.

  • this is really good but sheridan smith is the best at this song

  • whoa Carrie!

    Major belting!

    Both of them are great!

  • Carrie knocked it out of the park. I liked how she sounded similar to Ellen Greene.

    Happy New Year everyone!

  • i love carrie underwood!!

  • I prefer this version rather than the modulated one. Thank-you for taking the time to upload it.

  • she is second best ellen greene

  • carrie is so awesome! she sing the crap out of this song. i dont get all these "suddenly seymore"'s with all these coy seymore's. hes supposed to be a nerd!

  • Ha ha ha ha ha - she puts in all of Ellen Green's vocal inflections!

  • oh, and I HEART Patrick Wilson

  • it sounds like she listened to Ellen Greene's original version a fair bit! she actually does it pretty well!

  • and at 15 years of age Dared to Move you really think people will take your opinion seriously ??- Carrie's great singing this and all the Broadway stars and critics who were there agreed that Carrie was outstanding

  • That wasn't Carrie sucking, it was your mother.

  • im impressed sang it GIRL!

  • thanks you the other version did not at all sound like carrie

    thanks for fixing it

    they sound great

  • I love the way Carrie portrayed this character. Audrey (the character singing this) has been passive her whole life, and in this song she is finally coming out and standing up. So belting this song and being powerful, was the better way to go in my opinion.

  • they're both really good, but they're not too good together because carrie underwood is so powerful and she cancels out patrick wilson.

  • agreed

  • She should definitely be in Broadway lol I thin she would make a convincing Audrey ;-)

  • WOW Carrie did a fabulous job!

  • But this song is meant to be powerful at a point
