Modern Yankeedumb always denies their involvment in Slavery and Imperialism and Racism and Treason.......they only blame the South. They are true Cowards!
@ke4bss True. They deny their own slavery. They deny slaughtering blacks during the NYC draft riots at the start of TWONA. Southern sins are apparent, it is the Northern sins that still try to hide from the light of day.
Another great video. Just read an article tonight about the Roman Empire, and it is amazing how similar the federal government is to that failed empire. To make it short, when Rome was finally overrun by barbarians, the citizens were glad because they were finally free from this despotic government that was stealing everything they had. Then they were able to govern themselves. It is just appalling how a government will completely destroy nations under its rule in order to stay in power.
@oldhacks That's a good question. It would be a smaller area with less economic and military power. SC, by itself, couldn't fight a war against Libya, Iraq, Pakistan, etc. Nor could SC or even TX operate 1,000 foreign military bases around the planet. Practically speaking, it would be impossible to run an empire, at least on the scale the US now does.
@RedShirtArmy A proper Union scratch that, Confederation with no involuntary taxation helps prevent out of control self destructive expanses (empires) of state power. If one Government becomes too tyrannical the people will flee to another thus forcing the government de facto to yield power. The founders understood that competition maintains freedom albeit governments or shoe stores. I believe the articles of confederation is a good rough blue print for how a proper Union should be laid out.
@CelticSouthland Strictly speaking, a nation refers to people, not a government. So, Southerners would be a nation. Germans would be a nation. Japanese would be a nation. But Georgia, Germany and Japan would all be states. A state is an independent and sovereign government. Of course, in the US today, none of the states are sovereign because the Feds rule over us all. Constitutionally, the states are supposed to be sovereign but in fact they have been ruled over by DC since the 1860s, sadly.
@RedShirtArmy I do agree with you, but I need to point out that the People of Texas, and the People of Louisiana (as an example) have a separate history, separate culture, and even separate genetic make ups, and have become separate Peoples. The People of Virginia are nothing like the People of New York. I see our States as Nations of Peoples who have become separate and distinct. I would not give up my Citizenship of my Nation to become a Citizen of New Jersey.
@CelticSouthland That's a good point about the separate cultures of some of the peoples of the South. Even still though, people are nations, not governments. So, it could be argued that the Cajuns are a nation, but not Lousiana. While I have nothing but respect for the Cajuns and recognise them as a unique sub-culture who deserve the right of self-determation like all peoples, their history and culture is tied in with Southern history and culture.
@CelticSouthland Take SC as an example. In SC there are a few unique cultures: the Gullah people, the Ulster-Scots of the Up Country, the people of various European ancestries of the Midlands and Low Country and the non-Gullah people of West African ancestry. Some Southern States are more mono-cultural, especially in the Upper South. But the Ulster-Scots of Tennessee, North Carolina and Kentucky are more or less the same culture of people even though they live in different states.
@RedShirtArmy The Constitution hasn't existed since 1865. It's just used whenever the government finds it convenient to justify it's actions to us. Our constitutional republic is nothing more than a democratic talking piece. The government will seize power and keep expanding until it destroys itself and once that happens if the powers at be haven't calculated that as well we'll have our chance. Getting a state to secede right now with all of the influence on them from DC is very slim sadly.

yup, that guy is an american alrite, a jewified Euro (never mind the
occupation world!), the folks who think he will stop the lobbies should
think again. Ask redskins how 'voluntarily' (2.23) they made way for
federations and secessions

Tom Woods could bring logic and reason to reading the yellow pages...a brilliant scholar with whom I absolutely agree with 99.99% of the time.

The union is not a Nation, it is a collection of Independent Nations.
The Republic of Texas is a Nation, the Commonwealth of Virginia is a Nation, but the union is just a union.
Our Nations no longer need or desire the Federal Government; we can govern ourselves just fine.

Ten thumbs up!! Studying the "Civil War" in school used to depress me to no end! I found the whole ending (and the aftermath) so very sad.
