I have the Dutch version.. but in The Netherlands only the 106 1.6 RallyE's 8v (and lower versions) have been sold (which I have (RallyE 1.6 8v).. not the 16v).. There aren't any Dutch 16v RallyE's..
we've had the same cars. I kept the 1.9 for 14 years to replace it with the 106 16v rallye. I agree with you completely: the 205 was more fun, although less safe and less reliable
I bought 17 years ago a 205 1.9 GTI. 14 years later I replaced it with a 106 16V rallye: this has more brakes, more road holding and no bad reactions at high speed, but the 205 had much more torque and acceleration. Maximum speed is the same but all in all the 205 was more entertaining

Yep its a 1.6 16v engine probably from either a 106 gti or a saxo vts
