I really dont like this Queen + Paul rogers or what ever the guy's name is, sure I can understand their feelings of wanting to play again, give shows and stuff like that, It's just, umm to me That dude can't sing the songs that were written by Queen during their time together while freddie was alive, He doesn't have the voice or the range, dont get me wrong he is a good singer in his own right, I just dont think he has what you need to sing those songs, and I dont like his deep voice either
@TheBMAvids1 What? When was Paul Daniels even mentioned in Days Of Our Lives, he has no relevance to Queen whatsoever except that he's at this conference
You should all read Freddie And Me by Jim Hutton, which is all about Freddie and his longtime partner Jim Hutton, its a fantastic read, and most of the stuff in it I knew nothing about, granted i was in bits during parts.
I find Brian May and Roger Taylor not really involved in all this, sometimes even as if bored or uninterested, don't know, bloody hell a companion of more than twenty years has died and they don't show a real emotion, sitting calmly and speaking formally where you instead would expect more human feelings, they are cold, but what am I expecting, many English people are when it comes to human feelings, you bunch of hypocrites
@MrPasqualinotu It's called shock, and in many ways it says a lot more than floods of tears. Anyway, Roger's clearly close to breaking at one point.
There is absolutely nothing cold or hypocritical about not knowing how to react to the death of a loved one. We are not all machines, who respond the same way.
Brian and Roger construct very real, and very hard hitting, and yet, very dignified arguments about the horrors of AIDS, their music stands the test, and their honesty and humility makes them, not just my heroes, but, also men who we all can, and indeed, should admire.....
What many people on here are forgetting is that it the job of the interviewer to ask questions that will generate a response from the interviewees. When he asked whether Freddie was a phenomenal showman, he was looking a response from Brian and Roger as to how he was a phenomenal showman. His questioning technique isnt great but the way the Brian and Roger responded to the whole interview was amazing. As for Paul Daniels, I feel sorry for the man. He didnt have much choice but to answer.
In Paul Daniels' defence - not something I would usually find myself saying - it's hardly his fault he got thrown into the middle of all this. Blame the show and the presenter by all means, but he's there in all innocence.
Brian and Roger felt there were things that needed saying - and given some of the nonsense in the press at the time, they were undoubtedly right. It's just a shame that TV is the way it is, and this was the show they had to go on to say their piece.
Freddie Mercury was a true inspiration to many millions of people and did indeed change the world by increasing the awareness of aids as a result of his death...as for Paul Daniels what a wanker....how can he say those things...cunt.

@raoulandtheking I made this comment some time ago so I couldn't recall why I had called the interviewer an "ass", and because I'm a responsible person I watched the video again. After watching it for the second time I couldn't find any reason why I would have called him that. I apologize if I offended a broadcaster that you respect, I still stand by my position that the magician, however kind should not have been booked on the show that day. Cheers.
I lost my father two weeks before Freddie died. I lost two heroes in one year. I couldn't function by the time Freddie passed. I just felt empty and that everything had been taken away from me.
i am 21 and Freddie changed my world, or better yet - without Freddie's music i would be a different person now. i grew up listening to it, it was often my lullaby. i remembered most of the songs back when i did not have a clue what they were about ( English is not my first language you see), i never saw his performance live but i have the utmost respect for him as a singer, performer... and i am glad to hear that he really did not die alone.

@BananaSandwich1 you're talking about Jim Hutton (Freddie's Husband). He died of lung cancer and he didn't give Freddie AIDS. Actually Freddie unknowingly infected Jim Hutton with HIV (which he kept hidden from Freddie). Jim was able to keep it from progressing with medication.
Respect to BM/RT for weathering thru all this crap. In 100 yrs time may Freddie & MJ's legacies, generous talent & message of love/compassion rise above all the lurid sensationalism and stigma.
Would some1 who un/knowingly ingests cholesterol, carcinogens, stays sedentary etc be bashed for asking to die? or is it only sex/homophobia people obsess about? Freddie lived & paid for it, asked for no pity & kept at his job. What more fingers can we point but work on AIDS awareness & compassion?
I do wish that Freddie's friends would have truly warned him of the dangers in the life he was leading. Obviously, they were close enough to him to see the changes in his lifestyle and personality and that was definitely the time to step in and get him into some Rehab Program. I don’t read news papers or watch the news anymore, at least not much, its full of propaganda that incites hatred and fear, and most of what they write is a half truth rather than the full truth… I am glad that Brian and Roger spoke out about the subject matter, and that some people are still speaking out about it now, because it needs to be said
The woman in the round reminds me of the one in the "ITN Supersonic Saturday Scene" interview with Roger Taylor form the 70s. Anyone knows if it's the same person?
I really wonder what both Brian and Roger think these days. How do they think about "Don't ask, don't tell"? As they both stated, it's really a private matter really, isn't it? What you do in your own bedroom is your business, whether you are stock broker or an infantry-man. The gay community, however, want to shove their agenda down your throat. It's not about coming out of the closet...it's now accept us for who we are or else! Don't make it my business, because I don't care.
Why is everybody havin a go at Paul Daniels.. He was being very considerate for someone who had little knowledge of the subject.. More so than the host..
love listening to brian & roger speak . theyre so intelligent n talented, not forgetting john deacon and the late freddie. all geniuses in their own rights.
oh for gods sake, why oh why is Paul Daniels even on the programme with brain may and Roger Taylor?????? what an insult! he obviously knows nothing regards the music business of Freddie or Queen, totally clueless
i think that although freddy was gay and had aids, he was the best singer in all the world and roger and brian were his best partners . i would like also john deacon to be in this video.
Freddie had the most loyal friends ever in his bandmates. How lucky he was to have found these guys who loved him then and love him still. Not one of the three of them (John, Roger, or Brian) have ever had anything bad to say about him - only loving things. That is friendship. Freddie was lucky.
@arthuronfacebook It was a re-release of Bohemian Rhapsody with "These Are The Days of Our Lives". Bohemian Rhapsody once again made #1 on the UK Charts.
I knew a beautiful soprano who was married to a music professor. she used to bring booze home to him like a dutiful wife. well he died of liver failure. its a painful fact that she enabled the poor man. fools will say that he died happy. the harsh reality is that many so called friends and lovers are codependent. Freddie would have been better off in a cave than WITH THESE SANCTIMONIOUS CADS we see here missleading other impressionable fans.
@uncatila I like to be as erudite and concise as possible. You're really not that bad, but still, they aren't being sanctimonious, they are just being honest. Rare in so called "celebrities" but they were his friends, the closest ones he had.
Onanism is the antithesis of chastity. Learn to distinguish between the two. one is a vice born of selfish lust and one is a virtue based upon charity. resist one and exercise the other. God bless and Save Freddy in all mercy.
Freddy is not Gay now. without a body you are not given to fleshy temptations. He is in the spirit world now. All the good that he did will go on while anything that is impure will be burned up as it should be. That is what each person will go through.
I like his more serious and human songs rather than his frivolous ones. Those are the songs that will be around after you and I are dead and facing our reward and punishment. Chow ye gay ladis
@oldrufo its good not to deify celebrities out of desperate grief. We speak in hushed and sanctimonious tones but if Freddy could come back he would speak about the reality of God's love which precludes lust. people are so caught up in there fleshy cravings here but when you die your flesh is torn from you in a terribly painful way. it's then that you have to answer for your behavior and not to the fans. Fear not death and the worm but fear the second death and the worm that dies not.

no homosexuality is not a good thing. These band mates are complicit in continuing to enable destructive behavior. Music is good. poetry is good but gayness is not good. It ultimately ended his singing and writing.
sorry I haven't read all this comments, or will do, but if somebody can tell me why John Deacon never appears around when this kind of stuff ( interviews ), or even mentioned
Whats the magician guy gotta do with anything?!?!?! If I'm not mistaken, this was an interview for Brian and Roger, two of the 4 greatest people to ever live.
Brian & Roger are so amazing in this interview - so brave of them they really are amazing friends to Freddie! I really wish they didnt have that other douche there at the same time - i mean really who the fuck is that?
What was the show thinking of in putting a magician together with the likes of Brian May and Roger Taylor? I think the interviewers should have just forgone the idea of having anyone else on the show that day and just interviewed Brian and Roger. The magician just basically butts in with his insensitive comments and lack of sympathy.
Brian and Roger though remain calm and collected despite the rubbish they have to put up with here. Total gents.
I Love Brian and Roger ,John too =) , and everything that Brian said about accepting gay people ROCKS! "Heteros for gay or whatever it is...you know!" Thank you guys...Rock on forever
There is something missing at the bottom of someones garden . A Gnome .
Oh there it is sitting on the sofa of TV AM . Fecking Paul Daniels , what a fecking prick . Paul , do us a favour , get your fishing rod , stupid red hat and return to the bottom of that garden
In my eyes both Roger and Brian are heros and befor judging Bri remember that Freddie´s last official statement was including the wish: please join with me and my doctors the battle against this diseas.
Based on what Brian said between 2:11 and 2:25, here's a response to the homophobic cunt who was responsible for saying that:
Freddie did NOT admit he was gay when he announced he had AIDS. You just admitted to the public that you're a complete shithead of a reporter! I myself am straight, but I know a statement like that is fucking bullshit. And I don't care that this happened when I was 10 months old - Freddie was being tortured most unfairly by AIDS, and the press deciding not to fuck off.

I Remark, as the tittle say
just one week later!.
after 22 years as a group, and was not worth it , just a little bit , to have turned this interview, into something more possitive fo freddy´s memory?!!!., even mr taylor, points to the ( terrible, fact of mr.Mercury incompetence to defend him self against the bloddy press, but suddenly mr, may say( i wish like to talk more about aids!) What a Sick person!
he like to turn all of that into a dichotomy between the aids and fake moral
may said ( i think, one of the results of his life, it´s that people have a diferent attitude who people been gay) he´s right on a way, cause, Mercury was an example to people who has homophobic mind, he show how incredible can be a human, no matter the sexual preferences!. mr. may doesn´t point never to mercury´s legacy in music, very rare times, this was the right and fair occasion to for almost give an speech about all good times with him when they was Queen, ÍT´S NOT FAIR
i beg you pardon, for all my lacks to english grammar, i was writting extremely sad, and fast. don´t drop my humble opinion to trash, i´m telling you what i´ve have to see and hear, i don´t like it but i´m sure it´s truth
even more fame ,after the trafedy occurred, they say, imposible, to continue with another leadvovalist, with the idea of the memorial for Freddy Mercury, they got the oportunity to get aparently reasons to stay under Queen´s jurisdiction, unless they show a little bit respect with the + that they add to QUEEN ´S INSIGNIA
with the excuse, with the mask of ; make QUEEN still alive, when the real fact, is they ´re to mush far of was it was Q music, Deacon must have more that just the reason he gave when he came out of the band, but we can just especulate , deacon it´s totaly out of the royal scene now, i know, you gonna say, why then just taylor and may gave the face to defend F, where was his close deacon?
easy, one of the crusial reasons is cause they want to keep with the band and all the sudden ..
brian may remark ( one of them) ,reallly that was not a sad face, i´m sorry, but, just it´s inevitable to see it. for any reason, does anyone else has that needle on your mind? , i have seen all the interviews ,and i always is easy to see, how mush they care freddy mercury´s image, memory obviously cause Queen it´s marcked with MR. Mercury´s hand, in photos, interviews the close person to Freddy is Deacon, the one who it´s exactly erase of that thing of
they were a rock band, no friends, were mates of succesful of what it´s one of the most important bands in history, they did a good right defence talking about the aids, and defending him against the despicable press, but, when it´s time for theire own opinions about the musician he was, ( a mean, just at one week later from that horrible day) they, and most roger taylor, seems to almost refuce to talk about his undeniable talent ( the man was an absolute genious) but is sad cause.....
I LOVE QUEEN, but i can´t stop thinking about the trulypure heart of roger and May talking about Freddie, the truth is
they decided to keep on with the band when there was no band, freddy mercury is irreplaceble , and now , they´re on stage (rockin) with the asshole, john deacon i think is the most honest person on what there´s left of band, reallt makes me cry i donñt say they were totaly hypocrites, just pay attencion behind the faces, especialy in the part 1 of the interview
WTF was up with the magician?! What did he have to do with anything?
Anyway, this makes me wanna cry, they look so devastated, and to top it all they had to put up with all that crap... People can be so narrow minded...
I know. First Freddie was being horribly eroded by AIDS and the media persisted on interfering in the poor guy's privacy. Then he explained the truth publically when he didn't have to, he died the next day, and then the media STILL had nothing nice to say about him after everything he did for us. If those disrespectful fuck-mouths can't be supportive they should shut the fuck up. Not to worry though. Freddie's now and forever in the company of God and Jesus. God bless Freddie Mercury.
Why was Paul Daniels sitting in the interview? I dunno why, maybe I'm wrong but there is just something disrespectful about it

That speaks volumes.peace <3<3

I don’t read news papers or watch the news anymore, at least not much, its full of propaganda that incites hatred and fear, and most of what they write is a half truth rather than the full truth… I am glad that Brian and Roger spoke out about the subject matter, and that some people are still speaking out about it now, because it needs to be said

Freddie had the most loyal friends ever in his bandmates. How lucky he was to have found these guys who loved him then and love him still. Not one of the three of them (John, Roger, or Brian) have ever had anything bad to say about him - only loving things. That is friendship. Freddie was lucky.

Total gents.

pompa04 2 years ago 6
Based on what Brian said between 2:11 and 2:25, here's a response to the homophobic cunt who was responsible for saying that:
Freddie did NOT admit he was gay when he announced he had AIDS. You just admitted to the public that you're a complete shithead of a reporter! I myself am straight, but I know a statement like that is fucking bullshit. And I don't care that this happened when I was 10 months old - Freddie was being tortured most unfairly by AIDS, and the press deciding not to fuck off.

I Remark, as the tittle say
just one week later!.
after 22 years as a group, and was not worth it , just a little bit , to have turned this interview, into something more possitive fo freddy´s memory?!!!., even mr taylor, points to the ( terrible, fact of mr.Mercury incompetence to defend him self against the bloddy press, but suddenly mr, may say( i wish like to talk more about aids!) What a Sick person!
he like to turn all of that into a dichotomy between the aids and fake moral

may said ( i think, one of the results of his life, it´s that people have a diferent attitude who people been gay) he´s right on a way, cause, Mercury was an example to people who has homophobic mind, he show how incredible can be a human, no matter the sexual preferences!. mr. may doesn´t point never to mercury´s legacy in music, very rare times, this was the right and fair occasion to for almost give an speech about all good times with him when they was Queen, ÍT´S NOT FAIR
androgineharlequin 2 years ago
i beg you pardon, for all my lacks to english grammar, i was writting extremely sad, and fast. don´t drop my humble opinion to trash, i´m telling you what i´ve have to see and hear, i don´t like it but i´m sure it´s truth
androgineharlequin 2 years ago
even more fame ,after the trafedy occurred, they say, imposible, to continue with another leadvovalist, with the idea of the memorial for Freddy Mercury, they got the oportunity to get aparently reasons to stay under Queen´s jurisdiction, unless they show a little bit respect with the + that they add to QUEEN ´S INSIGNIA
androgineharlequin 2 years ago
with the excuse, with the mask of ; make QUEEN still alive, when the real fact, is they ´re to mush far of was it was Q music, Deacon must have more that just the reason he gave when he came out of the band, but we can just especulate , deacon it´s totaly out of the royal scene now, i know, you gonna say, why then just taylor and may gave the face to defend F, where was his close deacon?
easy, one of the crusial reasons is cause they want to keep with the band and all the sudden ..
androgineharlequin 2 years ago
brian may remark ( one of them) ,reallly that was not a sad face, i´m sorry, but, just it´s inevitable to see it. for any reason, does anyone else has that needle on your mind? , i have seen all the interviews ,and i always is easy to see, how mush they care freddy mercury´s image, memory obviously cause Queen it´s marcked with MR. Mercury´s hand, in photos, interviews the close person to Freddy is Deacon, the one who it´s exactly erase of that thing of
( let´s keep with the band .
androgineharlequin 2 years ago
they were a rock band, no friends, were mates of succesful of what it´s one of the most important bands in history, they did a good right defence talking about the aids, and defending him against the despicable press, but, when it´s time for theire own opinions about the musician he was, ( a mean, just at one week later from that horrible day) they, and most roger taylor, seems to almost refuce to talk about his undeniable talent ( the man was an absolute genious) but is sad cause.....
androgineharlequin 2 years ago
I LOVE QUEEN, but i can´t stop thinking about the trulypure heart of roger and May talking about Freddie, the truth is
they decided to keep on with the band when there was no band, freddy mercury is irreplaceble , and now , they´re on stage (rockin) with the asshole, john deacon i think is the most honest person on what there´s left of band, reallt makes me cry i donñt say they were totaly hypocrites, just pay attencion behind the faces, especialy in the part 1 of the interview
androgineharlequin 2 years ago
WTF was up with the magician?! What did he have to do with anything?
