@BayouBluesMan Actually....there are no special wires or cables in the neck....the electrical signal uses the strings themselves to send the signal from the body to the tuners. All without adding weight, which is pretty remarkable. It sounds as good as any of the other Les Pauls I've owned or played, and neck is better as well. Its my fav Les Paul atm (you either Love or Hate the color), but I've been playing the 50th Anniversary SG-24 a lot more lately because its more comfortable to play

I've got some life changing news for u , in the neck of yr guitar there are wires and in the body there's a battery stored. Electricity isn't sorcery , we'r not in the middle ages.
No...... there are no wires in the neck. The strings carry the signal from the control to the tuners....look it up. Same as fly by wire. PCM pulse codes in a car work the same way, only 1 wire needed. The battery IS stored in the body, and is charged through a regular guitar cable where its usually good for 3 to 4 months. Dont take my word for it tho....check gibsons own site if you like.....its listed there in black and white

@BayouBluesMan Your Wrong.....There are no wires or cable thru the neck. Signal travels thru the strings. I took the MCK out of mine to replace because it was sticking and checked all wires point to point with a multimeter when resoldering them. Use google and find out for yourself...its on Gibsons own page, as well as any other site that has people modding them back to stock, or using the tronicle parts in other guitars.

Your guitar 's wiring is as follows: it has six little motors in the headstock they are connected through wires in the neck to the cpu , the strings transfer their signal to the bridge where is picked up analyzed by the cpu which in turn sends electricity through the fucking wires in the neck to the headstock motors which tune the guitar. U can believe whatever the fuck u want but there r wires in the neck

If BayouBluesMan had half a clue about wiring or took half a second to think about it he'd realize there is a metal truss rod in all Gibson Les Pauls that carries the ground signal to the headstock from the body. The strings carry the actual signal which is why they cant be touched while tuning.

If Gibson wants to save their company, they need to listen to the real hard working professional musician. Bring back the long neck tenon joint in all the guitars. Lower the outrageous prices. I recently spoke to a Gibson rep. He told me their guitars were made for those who could afford one. That leaves out mostly all pro musicians, I said. He agreed with me. Give me a month at Gibson and things would change dramatically for the better. First thing I would do is fire that rep and more!
I've been playing guitar since 1962. I haven't forgotten how to tune my guitar and I'm absolutely positive I don't need the robot system to tune my guitar for me. How effin embarassing !! When Gibson guitar making reached the 50's, they were making their best pieces. Just another perfect example of why Gibson gets in financial trouble. Wow this is kind of pathetic. Like GIbson is 'killing' fender with their revolutionary new design. Fact of the matter is that the whole robot guitar is just a fancy gadget, it's for people who are too spoiled and lazy (and probably tone deaf) to tune the guitar themselves. I spend 30 seconds tuning my guitar, and that's much better than paying a 1000 extra dollars extra. i saw the movie where Gibson Rickenbacker kicks Fender Tremelo in the chest and Fender ends up impaled on a meat hook and died.Fender then became a god for owning the plague.
Its all about preference. Gibson isnt all worth it's price. A decent priced 300-500$ Fender stratocaster pretty much beats the $1100 Gibson Les Paul Studio. Again. Its all about your playing and preference.

Fender Killer? Hardly. The robot guitar isn't new tech, Transperformance systems and similar systems have been around long before. Hell, Fender themselves teamed up with Roland to make the Fender VG strat which has some basic "auto-tuning". Regardless, even if Gibson had the best auto-tuning system in the world, it doesn't negate the fact that the overall design of their severely overpriced guitars are utter shit, both ergonomically and durability-wise.
Gibson needs to get back down to earth and go back to how gibsons should be made... They are ruining their rep by building robot guitars and the holy V and all that other stuff. thats why prices go up! they make less models of the real gibson. Just make a real gibson and set the price back. swear they would get more money that way anyway...

for one that doesnt pass by gibsons inspectors (the "Special" model) it goes dirt cheap. but alot of things are wrong or end up going wrong later on. i just want my gibson explorer and not feel like im getting robbed at gunpoint at the store
'standard' should be pretty cheap, as it is in fact called standard, customs i can forgive for being pricey. the specials shouldn't really exist as your better off with epiphones for that quality.
it would be nice to have explorers and V's and for them to not be used to make 80's hair metal guitars with. kahler bridges and tribal patterns are not suitable for a lot of people
the problem with gibson is that if it isnt a custom it isnt really good. there is always something that messes up on it that will need fixing. gibson is just a good investment to have.
That was lame...building a self tuning guitar doesn't mean there are no Fenders needed. You cant forget the heritage of the Fender. different guitars for different styles.
Too bad Fender made an auto-tuning guitar in the 90's... Oh well, keep paying for the name Cadillac owners.

Let's be clear. This is in no way the world's first robotic guitar. It is the world's first commercially available guitar with robotic (servo) tuning. The LEMUR GuitarBot was completed in 2002, and others before us have created robotic guitars. See video at lemurbots (dot) org

i love gibson but $1,000 dollar fender = $5,000 Gibson, both with the same quality. you pay for unnecessary accessories and the gibson name. I own a les paul and love it but i still think i was only paying for the name.

@jh733 The only Gibsons that cost 5k are the limited edition ones, Fenders are sweet but go out and buy a standard Les Paul, it'll set you back a little more than a Fender, but you get WWWAAAAAAY more than what you paid for.
The robot shlock is for tech head 13 years olds with rich parents, but you have to admit, when it comes to a solid body guitar, you can't really aim higher than a Les Paul.

Its all about preference. Gibson isnt all worth it's price. A decent priced 300-500$ Fender stratocaster pretty much beats the $1100 Gibson Les Paul Studio. Again. Its all about your playing and preference.
For blues, fender telecaster. For metal, gibson SG

Fender Killer? Hardly. The robot guitar isn't new tech, Transperformance systems and similar systems have been around long before. Hell, Fender themselves teamed up with Roland to make the Fender VG strat which has some basic "auto-tuning". Regardless, even if Gibson had the best auto-tuning system in the world, it doesn't negate the fact that the overall design of their severely overpriced guitars are utter shit, both ergonomically and durability-wise.

Gibson needs to get back down to earth and go back to how gibsons should be made... They are ruining their rep by building robot guitars and the holy V and all that other stuff. thats why prices go up! they make less models of the real gibson. Just make a real gibson and set the price back. swear they would get more money that way anyway...

yea. they are like 800-900 for a well built one.
for one that doesnt pass by gibsons inspectors (the "Special" model) it goes dirt cheap. but alot of things are wrong or end up going wrong later on. i just want my gibson explorer and not feel like im getting robbed at gunpoint at the store

'standard' should be pretty cheap, as it is in fact called standard, customs i can forgive for being pricey. the specials shouldn't really exist as your better off with epiphones for that quality.
it would be nice to have explorers and V's and for them to not be used to make 80's hair metal guitars with. kahler bridges and tribal patterns are not suitable for a lot of people

the problem with gibson is that if it isnt a custom it isnt really good. there is always something that messes up on it that will need fixing. gibson is just a good investment to have.

That was lame...building a self tuning guitar doesn't mean there are no Fenders needed. You cant forget the heritage of the Fender. different guitars for different styles.
