@discocreator76 what the hell are you talkin about chav mobile, are you just copyin the "chavailer" saying. ive never seen a chav as you say or any young lads driving a calibra or a cavalier for that matter mainly the big engine ment high insurence my 1.8 cav is about £1500 for a young lad to be insured on so i think your idea of chavs driving them is far from true
@SaucyBegger25 I think it's very varied. The cavalier is one of those cars that is driven by everyone older pepole, young people rich and poor. I have a 1.6 cavalier and the insurance was £1600 when i was 18 but it didn't stop me driving it.
calibra. one of the best cars ever built. and how many stylish cars are hatchback. calibra, zx3oo and gto. all very practical too. modern cars are shit by comparison. clarkson should know. he talks it......
I think the Calibra is a very under rated car and can still cut it today in the looks and certainly the performance figures.
The Turbo 4x4 version is absolute dynamite and can top 160mph easily
The 8V offers excellent reliabilty and costs very little to run. The calibras all share the same beautiful styling with a varied range of engines, leather seats, full electrics etc.

But the review here is justified. It looks great, but the rest, even the quality, is ordinary. I just wish that they had been able to base the chassis on a shortened Omega. The rear wheel drive would have been more fun! B-)
Yes, the position you sit in the car, and how it handles is amazing. Although it's opel, i would take it over an beemer. The 2 litre turbo 4 x 4 can be screaming fast. Factory top speeds are not all trough. A stock 115 bhp can do 220 km/h.
i never really thought about a more aerodynamic car getting less air flow through the cabin without the fan being on, but it makes sense i suppose, in my dads volvo estate , you never need to put the fan on , as there is more than enough air comming through, but in my car a fiat, i need the fan on alot in the winter, otherwise i steam up. interesting!
The silver Calibra in the video is no longer on the road. The vehicle details for G503 XNM are: Date of Liability 01 05 2008 Date of First Registration 18 04 1990 Year of Manufacture 1990 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1998CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour SILVER Vehicle Type Approval null
Frigorash you are a silly and stupid , the calibra is my love. y como dirian en mi pueblo me cago en la madre te pario gilipollas. Que coche tienes?, un huevo ultimo modelo?, capullo.
calibra turbo 4x4 was the car of my dreams..... till i bought one! sure a lot of it was down to the previous owners but it blew a radiator, then turbo, then 4x4 gave out. all within 9 months! put me off them forever. turns out they're not all the fast anyway. far too heavy. and in good ol nz where the speed limit is 100km, its not like you could get its speed up to where I'm sure its great
Well, i am on my second calibra, first was a 2L xe, current one is a 2.5 v6. both fantastic, both mechanically great as well. They still turn heads (as do the corrados) and will for many years :)
The original design was beautiful, but they wrecked it when they started sticking V grilles and other tat on it.
Tiff Needell put the Turbo 4x4 up against the Escort Cosworth in a later episode. That was a pretty good indication of the handling problems of the Vauxhall, even with 4wd.
lol amen to the corrado guy... how can u slate a corrado for being a german built car when u are bumming vauxhalls, the worst car company i can think of. deffo the corrado VR6 ova a calibra.. and just for record (except the turbo) the calibra is front wheel drive too and DON'T get me started on how unreliable they are.
i dont like boxy cars, but the corrado looked great with it's shape, the calibra, looked a bit plain, sure it was curvy but wasn't a looker. and every time you see a calibra, it's covered in rust, broken. when i see a Corrado, still looks fresh.
i have to say misterinley is right. about 70% of the calibras are red and the paint is pretty rotten. and most corrados are pretty good even today, but corrados are really rare on german roads. dont know why, probably insurance... but somehow they are both quiet rare today but the corrado more than the calibra
its slow, its front wheel drive, its boxy, it tops out at 144mph, its german, its heavy, its a girls car, its chunky, unreliable, it looks like a cut and shut, its a glorified golf. . . .
what a poor response that was. Its a vauxhall, bully for you. Calibra turbo 160+ mph. Corrado 144mph. Hmmm. But hey its only a vauxhall. Corrado 0-60 7.2, my calibra 5.0. Hmmm. But hey its only a vauxhall. Boxy hairdressers car or sleek coupe. Hey its only a vauxhall. Front wheel drive or 4x4. Hey its only a vauxhall.
Faster, better looking, rare, better handling, better all round perfomance, better reliability, sleek, not a vw.
@Toffo86 You forgot more relaxing, more economical, bigger boot, better seats, more legroom, better ride, better to tune, much nicer steering and controls, better dash layout, etc.
had a 2.0 16v but now got a v6 and I cant believe how much faster it is. The thing about the car is the looks, the car has a sort of cult status. I see nothing on the roads that can compare. and they're getting quite rare now. (a good one that is!)
I'm a Manta owner, and apart from not retaining RWD on the 2WD models I think the Calibra was a sound replacement. They're certainly more economical (and faster) than my thirsty GT/E - couldn't really touch it for looks and handling though. Good one Vauxhall!
Up to '88 you had the Chevrolet Cavalier, which was our Mk2 Cavalier and Europe's Opel Ascona. But the Mk3 Cavalier/Opel Vectra A, was replaced in the US with a completely different car still using the Cavalier name.
id have the V6 or the Turbo but... still have a Cavalier GSi 2000 over it, its DEFINITELY NOT the best car in the world they are poorly built and fall to bits but still look very cool, good in a straight line, wouldnt depend on the handling tbh. id take the escort cossy or the rover 220turbo over them i think.
It was high quality when it was first uploaded. Find one better and watch that.

Putting a camshaft sensor into one now.
They are severely underpowered for how they look.
The model i have now is a perfect example of the car, green, cream leather, just look at the haynes manual and thats it.
Its a great looking car though, and the 2.0 puts out this nice rasp when you accelerate hard
