  • It's all about energy expenditure and simple physics. To lift a heavy weight requires a certain amount of energy. Where does that energy come from when you lift something? Your muscles. Where does your muscles get their energy? Your fat stores. Voila, you burn fat and lose weight. Moving fast such as running burns energy because you are moving the mass of your legs and arms but you are basically swinging them not lifting them. That is why lifting weights are more effective at burning fat.

  • @zacherius1986 that's not safe 2 to 3 pounds a day? O.O

  • kind of knows what he is talking about

  • I know this works im one that has always loved to lift and hated cardio. I was lifting very intense for a few months and lost weight and began to look really good, but then stopped and gained a ton of weight. So it does work but make sure you keep it up or the weight comes back with a vengeance!

  • i have been working out for 30 yrs mainly cardio, di weightlifting too always maintained but couldn't never really lose any weight . well broke my ankle had to give up cardio and mainly went to wt liting. bingo lose those 30 yrs 10 lbs

  • Lol I just broke my toe weight lifting and dropped a 25 lb weight on it and I wanted to know how to keep my fit body fit without running and i guess I already was awesome

    Thanks man

  • Everything he said was completely true! I lost 28 in just 3 months by weight lifting. Guess what? I might have done 2 hours of cardio in the entire 3 months... I just changed my diet, took in less carbs and more protein, and lifted weights intensely. Now I'm doing cardio because it's not as painful as it was before, and continuing weight lifting. I'm also eating the same amount I have been before...If not more. More muscle means more calories burned from just sitting around!

  • impossible to lose weight without cardio, we breathe at all times

  • @stapletonwilliam You're sorely mistaken. Generally, you burn calories while perfomring cardio exercise, for the duration of the cardio....no longer! However when you weight train you burn calories for much longer after exercise. Muscle burns calories. The muscle you have, the faster you're burning calories = FACT.

  • @CockneyLad1977 You're burning calories at this very moment, and you will continue to burn calories until the second you die. It's called metabolism, and it doesn't just stop after cardio is over. Technically, we're doing "cardio" all the time. Keep in mind that if humans didn't have a cardiovascular system, there would be no way to supply our muscles with oxygen and other nutrients. I apologize if my comment was confusing, but perhaps you should learn the basics of metabolism.

  • i have just started doing your method then found this video to see if it was correct by lifting weights more and intencly to lose weight....Thanks alot man, you know alot thanks again.

    D.Yates

  • lifting weights sucks, do bodyweight exercises

  • I want to say to readers of this video that

intensity does burn allot of calories regardless how long you do it

the intensity IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT then the duration ,but of course you need to atleast do interval 1 minute off 1 min off etsc . IT DOES help

  • Thanks man, I am now gonna do weights, it's pretty awesome that the more muscle you have, the more the muscles will burn the fat and faster!

  • its true actually! He speaks the truth!

  • Thats true

  • Very helpful advice; thank you!

I have a question- how should one eat/exercise if they're trying to tone up? I've always heard that if you exercise & burn too many calories your body will start to break down your muscle tissue & essentially begin feeding off of it if you over excerise. I'm 26 years old and my stomache and rear and legs are toned fairly well, but I have loose, jiggly arms I'm trying hard to tone. However, I'm not seeing much results. I'm wondering if I'm not eating right, etc.

  • good talk
