This Steve has nothing on James McAvoy. And I'm not talking about looks (even though I do think James is hotter), I'm talking about acting. That line, "Because you think like that, Jenna doesn't..."? James delivered that line *perfection* - it was just incredibly sweet and sincere and so, so natural. This guy pushed it a bit too hard, tried to put too much force into it, and it came out sounding unnatural and affected.
@RICH29637 A bit like what they did with Being Human. I am not even touching the American version of Shameless...I only came out of curiosity...that satisfied I can move on, deleting this from my mind forever.
The first 3 minutes of watching the normal Shameless nearly 10 years ago, I must have laughed at least 3 times. I didn't laugh once during this 3 minutes of the US version. I'll watch the first episode when it comes on C4 this month but if I'm not impressed then that will be it. In other words it better get better!
@DangerousMuzic I loved loved LOVED the UK version and thought I would hate the US version, but it really has it's own charm. Justin Chatwin and Emmy Rossum have great chemistry and I think they make a perfect Steve and Fiona.
wow... music is a bit OTT. whole point of Shameless was to be an alternative to all that sentimental borgeois middle class crap on TV. this looks like The OC in comparison to the UK version.
@QwertyBstard not really 'the whole point' of the show. and if you have watched the rest of the season, which i assume you have, i think youd know that this show is nothing like any bullshit american shows like "the oc".
No, that was the creator's motivation. He worked on a lot of the British soaps prior to it and wanted to make something that showed how workingclass people actually thought and their sense of poetic justice rather than it being a piece of class voyeurism like most British "kitchen sink" dramas. I'll give the US version a chance but the music and the unrealistic attractiveness of the characters puts me off instantly. The US already did Shameless and it was called "Roseanne".
it really is amazing how similar both Fiona's look!
