several new urbanist projects are in progress (especially around the Gaithersburg area) and these are conveniently located where all the planned CCT stops are. These parts of Montgomery are reliant on the CCT for these urbanism developments to take course and be successful, and I think implementing a light rail transit system is ideal, NOT a Bus Rapid Transit.
To implement light rail for the CCT is 750+ million while the BRT is 400+ million. Compare the costs to have a light rail transit in the county (which could potentially extend all the way to Frederick one day) to this purple line project which exceeds to a whooping 1.51 billion. Bethesda, Silver Spring, along with all other cities are already well built. I'm not saying that I'm against the project (for it is a good one) but I think they should divert more of their attention to the CCT as
This project just really irritates me. I honestly think more attention should be put into the Corridor Cities Transit way. This light rail project exceeds up to 1.51 billion dollars while they're disputing whether or not to implement light rail or bus rapid transit for the CCT? Yet they prefer bus rapid transit over light rail because it's cheaper? I find it ridiculous that this plan is proceeding yet the rest of Montgomery County is given a BRT.
