  • "...but that's just because I don't like her and can't stand the sight of her"

    HAHAHA Hitchens OWNS!

  • Wow, when Chris started to point out how no amount of money can stop terrorism in an open society they started to show images of cops and bomb sniffing dogs to lull people back to sleep...

    How disgusting...

  • Hitch looks like he on a bender from another bender the night before

  • Wow Hitchens looks really wasted there, but is nonetheless classes better than a fresh Scarborough...

  • sage advice

  • hitchens right on point as usual

  • This must be the first time the Hitch has been on Scarborough Country that didn't end in them shouting at each other!

  • Kinda hard to shout in the face of hard facts. Not that ole Joe hasn't done so before ^^

  • Most of the time it is hard to openly jeer the facts. To laugh at or condescend to someone who has a genuine representation of reality.

Look no further than Religion to find open attack of genuine ideas.

  • hitchens is to smart

  • hitchens is to smart

  • too

  • Watch the "Clinton Chronicles" on Google video to see why I hate the Clintons.

Remember Mena, Arkansas? in the 80s.

  • damn Hitchens hates Hillary, but i like them both and i wish they would get along better =(

  • I know. Why does Hitches hate the Clintons, I wonder?

  • Read his book, "no one left to lie to." Hitchens is annoyed at how Bill Clinton was very corrupt, deceitful, and repugnant on issues like the Jennifer Flowers situation and the execution of a labotomized inmate,Ricky Ray Rector. Hitchens views Clinton as a betraying liberal who is a closet conservative.

  • sorry, I meant to hit thumbs up and I missed. Also, I think there's a battle of egos there. They are both highly intelligent, run by their passions and have a dark side. I think hitchens feels he is a truth seeker and sees clinton as truth twister. construction vs manip.

  • its brilliant book as are all of hitchen's writing, cheers

  • If I had to chose who has more credibility, Hitch wins hands down. Love him or hate him, he is true to himself.

  • ATTENTION: 'lds23464' has been spotted in a public restroom sending 'foot signals' to Ron Paul, sitting in an adjacent stall... NEWSFLASH AT 10!!!

  • 'lds23464', I give up! Talking to you is like talking to a 4 year old. Honestly, you make no sense with your 'canned' drivel.

  • You selfish, 'me centered' asshole! FYI, most work for somebody else, and don't 'create' jobs. They are also at the mercy of a system that may not allow them to get insurance (pre-existing condition... even something mild as hypertension) in the first place! Then what do they do? Clearly, private enterprise is NOT providing fair alternatives! Seriously, it's simpletons like you that are ruining this country!

  • LOL... 'lds23464', you should watch 'REAL TIME' with BILL MAHER on Friday nights (HBO) and learn something! Now that is a intelligent (and funny) man who makes bigtime sense!

  • You'd do the world a lot more good if you donated that money to a local homeless shelter or PeTA. Ron Schmo will NEVER win, and besides, he is just another 'tool' and 'empty suit' for the clueless neocons, who don't give a fuck about your job, or whether you have access to good healthcare or not!

  • 'lds23464', PLEASE learn proper diction, and how to spell correctly. Only then might your credibility go up a tiny notch. Yes, the line has been increasingly blurred between both major parties, but at least the Dems are interested in REAL issues, unlike the Repukes, who keep harping on 'the pledge of allegiance', gay marriage, evolution/creation, and Clinton's penis!

  • Total and absolute unfettered 'free markets' would be like 'the wild west'! Price gouging, monopolies, cronyism, and artificially created supply/demand would rule the day. Sorry, 'lds23464', but you sound like a 'broken record'!

  • 'lds234', you're utterly BRAINWASHED! Government, you fool, is NECESSARY in order to provide protection (police and wartime), AND as an administrative system of 'checks and balances' (FAA, FDA, FCC, FTC, etc.). Can you imagine the 'conflict of interest' when all these are ever privatized???!!! Then you'll have pharma executives sitting in on the FDA board, approving dangerous drugs without proper testing, etc.! Just one example...

  • SOME of their rich come to America, because they can AFFORD IT you dipshit! In addition, there are some advanced procedures here that they may not have over there. But that has NOTHING to do with the argument that millions here have NO access to healthcare, because they have NO insurance or can't afford doctors and proper care! This is unconscionable and downright embarrassing to all Americans!

  • 'lds23464', keep drinking the 'Kool Aid' those impractical Libertarian assclowns gave you! You don't know what 'freedom' is!

  • No, MORON. I'm not 'communist'. I am for a proper and ethical MIX of Capitalism and government. Like the U.K., France, Germany, Canada, etc. At least they care enough about their people so that they don't have to go bankrupt for healthcare costs! Those countries know how to make the government serve the people when it counts.

  • Who gives a flying fuck about the income tax?! The cost of living (insurance, transpo, food, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure) is so high under this so called 'free enterprise system', I would gladly continue to pay taxes if the government stepped in and initiated PRICE CONTROLS on these 'runaway costs'. Why don't you Libertarians care about the REAL ISSUES? Taxes are OK if they result in SERVING THE PEOPLE!

  • I'm smart enough to know that women are equal to men, Indians and blacks are equal to whites, and that it's unconditionally immoral to own slaves.

  • Thank You, for posting;

Is a 'German Shepard' dog in 'Black-Face' considered 'Racist'?

There isn't a 'need' for 'security expenditure', America has the 2nd Article in the Constitution giving American citizens to right to selfish, self-protection, e.g., the 'Minute Men', and this self-armed force includes women, and Children.

    Valkyrie Ziege Mourne

  • Government is NOT the enemy! A mixture of government and free enterprise is the only way. But we NEED to make government work and 'take up the slack' for the failures of moder day Capitalism (i.e, healthcare for all, improved FDA, improved FCC or FAA, infrastructure, etc.). We spend BILLIONS on unecessary wars like Iraq, yet many don't complain! Wake up America!

  • Amen to that.

Also, the last thing this country needs is for public education to be even less decentralized. Most other industrialized nations don't let local school boards have the lion's share of control over curriculum, and they're much better off for it (i.e. keeping crap like creationism-in-sheep's-clothing out of science classes).

  • MORE decentralized, I meant.

  • WHO CARES about welfare!! You right wingers make such a big deal about it. Total welfare expenditure is but a minuscule fraction of what we spend on things like the Iraqi war, for example. Moreover, our system CREATES poverty and welfare, because of unemployment, underemployment, offshoring of jobs, etc., while living costs keep going up. Libertarianism will probably create MORE problems because pure Capitalism is NOT the answer! We humans are too GREEDY for that to work well.

  • Regarding Libertarianism, "you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig." Even if Ron Paul wins, we will still have most of the problems facing us as a now GLOBAL capitalist nation.

  • Don't 'put words in my mouth'. I'm not afraid of freedom, and Libertarianism is certainly NOT going to provide us with it. It's just another branch of 'business as usual' GLOBAL Capitalism, and it will be even worse than the current state of affairs with politians still 'whoring themselves' to lobbyists, 50 million will still have no healthcare, jobs will still be offshored to India, etc. etc.

  • Bullshit. Libertarianism is just another ugly face of ultra-conservatism.

  • JESUS IS COMING... LOOK BUSY!

  • "... but that's just because I don't like her and can't stand the sight of her!"

    LMAO! Honest.

  • Since when do "the majority of secular historians" agree on the existence of Jesus? My understanding is that there is only a single contemporary mention of this supposed person crucified in Jerusalem during the reign of Tiberius--the one by the historian Josephus. Am I wrong? The point stands that there is no more reason to believe in any god (or demigod) than in any other mythical individual or fable. Period.

  • Check out yoursexyron*com for sexyy Ron Paul.

  • Despite Ron's ubber-libertarian idealism, which the application of would be quite tricky, I do think he's a VERY honest and smart guy.

  • Wow, two negative votes for... what exactly?

For using "ubber" to describe a staunch capital "L" Libertarian? Or, for suggesting that RP's at least "honest", even if a little too idealistic in my mind?

Unfortunately, I am surprised less and LESS by people's lack of ability or willingness to rationally discuss these topics on YouTube.

Don't be so thoughtless and lazy, post meaningful comments or mind your own business.

  • lol, three now...

  • Let's spell it out for him, AMENDMENTS and/or we ALTER or ABOLISH what we cannot live with. You don't need to throw the baby out with the bathwater, and only a fool would think the constitution is a perfect piece of work. Well, it IS a "piece of work", and we will continue to REWORK it.

  • But you dont re-work it, and when you do its just to strangle the nation for their civil liberties.

  • "...just to strangle the nation..."

What are you talking about? I think you've read one too many Chomsky books.

  • Well, I'm not going to lay out full explanations of any metaphor I choose to use, I see your comment to be non-essential but also having a massive lack of any humor/wit. Now I find what I've learned about your nomenclature is not endearing you to me. So, I bid you good day.

  • Strangulation as a metaphor? All right, whatever. I don't care about the word "strangle" specifically, I'm interested in the idea you proposed that reworking the constitution is or has only been done to oppress or hold people down... THAT is what I am questioning. And about joking ~ WHO'S JOKING here? And if you were joking in your "metaphor" in any way, your joke was completely misplaced.

  • Now, were you really joking, or did you actually mean what you wrote?

"But you dont re-work it, and when you do its just to strangle the nation for their civil liberties."

And if it was a joke, how is this funny? As a Chomsky reader (unless THAT is a joke too), I find it hard to believe you didn't mean what you actually wrote.

  • Your a bit of a douche arent you.

Yes, strangle as a metaphor, but I see no need in bestowing my thought process upon you.

  • You COULD have said something worth while, several times, and yet this is all you have to offer. All I had to write was "Chomsky" and you quickly digressed into little more than nonsense and insults. This exchange speaks volumes about you. I'm happy I didn't waste my time with any thoughtful niceties.

  • No, you're just a douche mate.

  • Insult away, it just erodes your credibility and respectability for future readers.

  • Lol, don't worry, i have faith in the avid youtuber to have a sense of reality and, it'll be plainly obvious, that sorry for you, you're the biggest douche in the universe.

Peace, now go away and leave me alone you big douche.

  • And Mr Nomenclature so smartly responds: "Peace... you big douche."

I'm not going anywhere, so just cut the crap already and address the issue at hand. Show us your famous "humor" and "wit", I don't really care, but at least answer the question ~> do you really think the U.S. Constitution is, or will be, only amended at the intentional price of "civil liberties"? And if so, WHY!?

You're much more likely to get me to shut up by just answering the question and acting like a decent person.

  • What dont you get? If I had any appetite to debate with you I would do, but from what I've learnt, you really aren't someone I wish to waste my time discussing issues with. And believe me, I dont need to to worry about being a decent person as to anyone who knows me, I am, and away from those close to me I really couldn't give a donkey what they think.

  • Now please go and find someone else to annoy, if you aren't bright enough to deduce my meaning from my statement then poor you, if you are, there is no need to discuss. --- MOVE ON - BYE - YOU DOUCHE

  • Stop acting like an idiot, you know almost NOTHING about me.

You seem to think you were joking, but as I noted nothing in that original statement was even remotely funny. And considering your reading list of Chomsky and quite a few socialists, there's little reason to believe you were actually joking. So, the question STILL remains, what do you actually believe?

Deflect that if you will, but it doesn't make you look smart or superior, just defensive and daft.

  • Deflect, what are you on boy? For the last time, you do not suffice my appetite for debate so I shall choose not to converse with you. Have you got some complex in which you can't let things go, or is it you feel rejected?? Ahh, lol, now go away please and live out your meaningless life the best you can, that's the only wisdom in prepared to empart onto you.

  • Are you forgetting who's post is at the top of this string? You responded to me, not the other way around. And are you forgetting that it's you who are choosing to not answer the question? If you can't or won't answer, then just leave this string alone.

  • Are you seriously dimented or what? No, i think you'll find initially you responded to a statement i made, i didnt leave it open for response but as a product of some douche complex you have, you chose to reply, now go away and leave me alone, there isn't anything i cant answer i just dont want to talk to you about anything because its obvious YOU ARE A DOUCHE, THE BIGGEST DOUCHE IN THE UNIVERSE.

  • You can keep saying "douche" like a little teenager having a temper tantrum until the end of time, but you did indeed respond to MY post; nothing will change that fact.

Also, your Chomsky and socialist reading list suggest that you would NOT have been joking about Amendments to the U.S. Constitution being used "strangle" civil liberties.

You're a juvenile with no sense of manners and very little tact. If you want this to end, then just leave it be already.

  • For someone who repeatedly picks on other people's "nomenclature" (also stupidly written on the arato/hitchens thread), you're a real prize! You can't even spell "demented" correctly. "Suffice" it to say, you OBVIOUSLY have nothing useful to "empart". And it's "I'm", not "in" you stupid twit. In conclusion, since you have nothing worth saying, we ARE finished here. So piss off ya little nancy boy!

  • Lol, the lowest of the low, nothing to go on you big douche so the weak always try to go for anality on the form of grammatical indescrepencies, but guess what, fuck you, you stupid stupid douche. haha lol, peace

  • Right, this coming from a pompous, arrogant little jerk who is constantly panning and slamming other's views and manners of delivery. You set yourself up for this, with what you've written here and elsewhere. You're an absolute hypocrite of the first order.

  • In any case, I should never have assumed you even had the remotest idea of what you were talking about and what you stood for, and written a more open ended question. Had I done that, I would have left Chomsky out of my first response and maybe, just MAYBE, you would have at least tried to reason and write a decent post. My bad. Lesson learned. That absolves you of almost nothing though, you're still a little pissant reactionary punk.

  • Lol, there you go again searching for the fictional high ground were there is none for you to gain, i have decided not too converse with you, you havent posed me with anything that can stimulate and have appeared to be a what do they say 'jackass' so sorry for you, you are, a douche. now for the last time without feeding your complex for having to be the last to comment, good bye you douche.

  • "now for the last time without feeding your complex for having to be the last to comment, good bye you douche."

Again with the "douche", and now "jackass", you have the mind and manners of a spoiled child. So, you can't let it be, but you won't address the original topic, instead YOU take the imaginary (fictional) "high ground" and accuse me of not being able to let it go. Nice tactic, it won't work, you still haven't even tried to address the original point.

  • Again, you're a hypocrite and a complete idiot. As always, from the very first post, you could have left whenever you had liked, nobody is forcing you to respond and I never tried to shame you away as you are trying to do here with me. If you can't or won't defend the comment, then shut up and leave it be.

  • Was the constitution not meant to be an envolving document? IE one that changes to meet the needs of the current population??

  • Why do you fools call him facist or right ring????????? He hates facists and right wingers.

You can support a war whilst having liberal values you dumb cunts.

  • Good video. As always, Hitch is right on the money.

  • Ron Paul 2008!

  • He isn't the topic of discussion so what are you mentioning him for?

  • Ron Paul is a FUCKING JOKE, and an 'empty suit'! You morons who support him are delusionary, to say the least. 'Government' is NOT the enemy... it's what you DO with government that reflects how civilized, fair, and caring a nation is!

  • Yep Hitchens plastered again..and you would be too if you were once an intellectual liberal...smart enough to rail against religious fanaticism in all it's forms, but curiously goofily supporting a conservative government that lied its way into the oil fields on the back of terrorists attacks.

  • There's simply no such thing as an "intellectual liberal". They don't exist, and I've yet to meet one. There are, however, intellectuals who are passionate and heartfelt. Who flirt with liberalism, but then realize that it's stupid and not a responsible political mentality. They move on to sow their oats in more level-headed, intellectual friendly pastures.

  • Libertarians <3

  • You have it all reversed 'bestdionysus'. It's mostly the progressives and liberals who, through real world experience, realize we still have many challenges and issues to work on. Like affordable healthcare & insurance, fixing our infrastructure, our education system, etc. We are APPALLED that we spend BILLIONS on illegally invading a country and wasting needless lives!

  • Hitchens blames war on "religion" yet Hitchens supported the Iraq war, while the last two popes have opposed both Iraq wars. Hitchens is even so silly as to blame the evils of Stalinism on RELIGION. I admit, Mr. Hitchens is a GREAT TEACHER. He taught me that if you smugly say a thing with an English accent you will be respected. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. As long as you keep lying about us, we'll keep telling the truth about you.

  • "Hitchens blames war on "religion" yet Hitchens supported the Iraq war, while the last two popes have opposed both Iraq wars" George Bush ...'God told me to end the tyranny in Iraq'

  • LONG NIGHT OF DRINKING?

  • Hitchens...10 for Religion...0 for politics..

  • How about 0 for religion and 0 for politics.

  • No, I think religion - 10 and politics - 0 is the correct allocation.

  • God doesn't exist.

  • God does exist. Statistically and mathematically, the more ridiculous explanation is that the universe and Big Bang just happened to manifest on its own.

  • statistically and mathematically?

There is nothing more ludicrous than that spastic statement. There is no EVIDENCE for statistics or mathematical probabilities to be deduced.

  • Darwinian evolution does not, and cannot, explain the ultimate origins of life. It only explains change in the inherited traits of a population from generation to generation. It does not explain how that population got there.

  • j8811: I think you imply that because Darwinian theories do not explain to your satisfaction the existance of life, therefore, there must be a God ? That sounds like my nephew who, because he found toys under the tree on Christmas Day, he concludes it was Santa.

  • Let's reverse what you just said:

I think you imply that because religious theories do not explain to your satisfaction the existance of life, therefore, there must 'not' be a God ? That sounds like my nephew who, because he found toys under the tree on Christmas Day, he concludes it was Santa.

What's the difference between the two.

  • There is about as much evidence that God exists as there is for the existance of the Spaghetti Monster. However, you will not believe in the S. Monster...why do you believe in God ?

  • The spaghetti monster is not a good analogy. All the cities/territories in the Bible exist. So, did all their prophets, Jesus included. This is not even debated anymore among the vast majority of secular historians. However, there is no evidence whatsoever for a spaghetti monster.

  • Because spaghetti is by nature a dish served well in Italian eateries and poorly in cans. It does not have an ethos and has a physical form. If you say it does not have form and is the true prime mover behind an otherwise acausal universe, then you've simply applied the words "spaghetti monster" to the creator.

  • Well, it does, if you believe that life evolved from a 'primordial soup'. This is very plausibe. So is the possibility we were 'colonized' by aliens, if you really want to keep an open mind.

  • I D I O T

  • Yes, skate. Hitchens is a complete idiot. I agree.

  • It's funny how believers can't conceive of the Universe originating 'from nothing', yet champion the idea that 'god' did. Given the hypotheses that either the Cosmos originated unaided or that an infinitely more complex deity did, surely the former's more rational. BTW, we'd first best define 'nothing' rigorously and scientifically before we approach this question.

  • I agree with the sentiments, but i must call you up on the fact you have just plaguerised the eminent richard dawkins in your entirety to attempt to make yourself appear smarter than you really are. ur the type of person who would take an essay of a website and hand it in as your own works. Appauling.

  • I didn't plagiarize Dawkins. Plagiarism is word-for-word reproduction of another author's work and claiming it as your own. I paraphrased Dawkins, which is legitimate. Anyway, the observation antedates Dawkin's work. Carl Sagan made the same argument in Cosmos and The Demon-Haunted Word. My purpose isn't to impress, but to enlighten.

  • You did not paraphrase dawkins work, you took the entire body of your comment from a retort he gave during the lynchburg q&a session. If your attempts are to enlighten, then merely pass someone on to the actual source material do not attempt to make yourself out as buddha.

  • By that logic, Dawkins should merely have referred his Lynchburg audience to Sagan's work, instead of making the argument himself. He would have appeared more humble, but been far less persuasive.

  • he didnt spew out the exact same sentences as sagan, on the other hand, you did.

  • Even paraphrased it would require a proper cite to be intellectually honest.

  • Man, he doesn't look good. So goes the heavy price for those who sell their political souls. :(

I'm no Clinton fan either but I wouldn't base my criticism on her looks.

  • Heaven forbid anyone dynamic or interesting offers an opinion that is dominated by brainless stooges on either side.

  • He is great and correct too.

  • Nice to see Hitch can put aside his personal feelings towards politicians and debate the issues. In other news, he's plastered. Again.

  • "That's just because I don't like her and can't stand the sight of her."

    Too funny!

  • I love Hitch's reaction to Joe's question. It's hilarious.

  • he's a blowhard talking head like al the others. Same as Oreilly, coulter, and hannity he's just speaks English a little better.

  • Christopher Hitchens talks a lot of shit. half of what he says have been proven untrue by many, is this guy a yes man to someone?

  • I see that we have another Hitchens groupie. How's that glorious war going?

  • I do not have to agree with all the opinions of a man to admire him. It's something adults can do.

  • "I do not have to agree with all the opinions of a man to admire him. It's something adults can do."

Why do you admire him, contard?

  • Not good, but don't give up hope! The world will be free someday soon.

  • "The world will be free someday soon"

Just like your mother on Saturday night.

  • We can only hope.

  • That's the best that contard can do after I call his mother a chippie!

  • Yeah, pretty much. Your hate-filled obsession with the great Christopher Hitchens makes conversations with you kind of childish (as we see above). But by all means, have at it!

  • It will be particularly hilarious to see the warmongers tie themselves in knots now that clowns like Hitch are trying to distance themselves from GWB.

  • Not so much. I'm trying to distance myself from GWB too. The only good idea he had was to lower taxes and crush islamofascism.

  • Don't worry about FGFM. He's got a Hitchens fetish. Oh, and he bans the opinions of people who kick his ass on his threads. In short, he's a loser.

  • Christopher is right-Hillary is a rat and a hypocrite as he wrote in his column-she has betrayed thye Palestinian cause-she has changed her mind on Iraq-and the bitch supports abortion.

  • Why do you expect a good response to a retarded statement? hmm.
