Whether it can be verified statistically, I read one time that religion has killed more than wars have. I find your recommendation to seek religion within to be wise advice.
Despite huge distances, some differences, and only watching for a year or two or three, you have my friendship, gratitude, and mostly, respect. You are an amazing man !
@oak1923 Yes these two things are very powerful. They can save us and they can destroy us. Sort of being in the cold and having to build a fire to survive in the Living room. Yet somehow it has taken over the North wall and the ceiling. Should we stay and cook the marshmallows? Maybe it is time to run or get a fire extinguisher Really we have to do something!
Sounds like that was quite an experience the other day, and divine guidance to pick up that cell phone when it would be the last thing on your mind.
Religion today is commerce, and in many ways ugly commerce to boot. I've abandoned it altogether, and like you I've turned inward, to the faith I learned as a child, before it was spoiled.
@anmoose Me also. My Prayers have gone back the ones I said as a child. I miss the Latin Mass. When things were black and white. There is a video on my home page that really says what I remember about those early years.
And I think that which came from God like the Commandments should be followed. Seems like everything else was written by Man. I have not lost Faith just Church.
@tomlinid Tom somehow I think we should give great thought to the Commandments and the words of Christ. But most of the other things in that book are the thoughts of men. Men twist things to make what they think what we should believe. I have little trust of men in power. And Hate is Woven into words of Love.
I do hope that you will be able to reconcile your differences with your son, I really cannot understand why a difference in religious beliefs could cause such a rift but you have made the first move and if he or his religion has any passion surely it will allow him to show compassion for another human being.
@geriatric1927 Peter I agree. Yet this has to be his Choice has to do with that free will thing. He did say that he would think about it. For anyone responsible for another please hear my Words when they are young and like a piece of Clay mold and shape them well. When the grow to be adult. You can change them never more. It is sad That we learn by doing, And figure it out when it is to late. Thanks Peter for your Words.
@l0gically He is Evangelical and I am Catholic. I can not join his Church after working with the Catholic Church for many years it would send a very wrong message to the people that I have worked with.It is hard since I know that the problem could be solved if I would join his Church. There are other issues and I have done videos on those in the past.
I don't like hearing about these tia's. Please take aspirin once or twice per day, it will help. As for injustice, it seems to be rampant throughout the world and I don't think there was ever a time when this wasn't. An opportunity to prevent injustice is a gift from God. Take care Jer. Take the aspirin. I need you around.
@k6tpl Please get the meds you need ASAP. If you can't go out to get them, ask them to deliver to you or have a friend pick them up for you. Please, please, please - and I'm glad you're taking the aspirin every day but the rest will also help you. We all want and need you in our lives as long as possible. Take care of YOU, our friend!
Jer, I'm afraid to say you don't seem to be your usual self - understandable of course, given all that you've been through. I just want to say that although I've only been subscribing to your videos a few months now - or is it only weeks? - I always enjoy your videos, they're interesting and philosophical, very thought-provoking. I've grown to respect you a great deal, and... well, I don't know quite how to finish this sentence.
Jer I'm an atheist now, but I agree St Francis of Assisi was a very inspiring saint, especially the prayer of St Francis, which I still try to live by "Lord help me to seek to love more than to be loved, to forgive more than to be forgiven, to understand more than to be understood." There's more to it but those are the lines I remember and try to live by. I know what it's like to lose someone who was like a daughter to me, I hope we reconcile too someday like you have done with your boy.
@rich1299yt Rich St. Francis had trouble with the Bishop, his parents the Church, the Police. As today if you care about people there is going to be hell to pay. Guess it is people must care about people. Because the ones that should will not even take a few seconds to understand what the hell is going on. Example Policeman. You say the UFO swept out of the Clouds a beam of light came from the silver craft and stole the dogs Paw. Policeman again. Sum it up buddy. I am not here to talk about UFO
Jer do you not have medical insurance? If not I wish you could move to Canada to get your health needs taken care of, mind you our new right wing federal gov't has no compassion for anyone. I always thought the US would be a more just country if you had universal healthcare for all Americans, that way everyone would feel more a part of society and be more sympathetic and just to others in response, just a theory of course. I hope your health improves, you've become my favourite "columnist".
@rich1299yt Well I have two forms of insurance Medicare and A health Plan from Kaieser. About $150 a month. However the CO Pays are $30 each visit. I support other people. Medical costs are so very high here in The United States and when it is left up to the greedy companies to Set Prices. There is little hope for the old. The Doctors are no help. I do not have money to pay for their BMW's. Time to make the best of the time left! Thanks so for that first comment Peace and Good Jer

I think life is so much easier with no religion. We should all treat one another with respect and the strong should help the weak.
