Most freshwater fish put up such a pathetic fight. That pike didn't even pull drag! A barracuda, trevally or even a goatfish the same size as that pike would have pulled drag and at least given a fight.

@Coughline5 Well I personally agree with Coughline5. Being myself from Eastern Europe, the catch&release style of fishing is still something I don't completely understand. There was no such thing as fishing purely for fun around here until quite recently. And to relate it to the scarcity of food in soviet times is not totally right. We don't see any native people fishing for fun, do we? Although in most cases nature provides them with more fish than they could eat (at least it used to be so).

@teet100 anything in these planet is a resource...catch n release may not totally stop the dwindling and limited resources of fish that we have right now but at least it will prolong our enjoyment of the sport/hobby. Even the plentiful panfish can be wipe out if all anglers fish for food. Catch n release is the way to go - if you want food lots of commercial fish in the market
