omg - I listen to this live when it was first played - was fucked up on pills, having a good smoke. This has been a sound track of my life. I must have listened to this 10000 times. I even showed this to my mrs on our first night of getting on it, that was 17 years ago now, and we both still listen to this!
@Carbon657 Paul oakenfold goa mix gold part 1, & Paul oakenfold goa mix part 2 are actually parts 7 and 8 respectively of paul oakenfolds 'original' goa mix, so to speak. The above is exactly the same as 'Paul Oakenfold's "The Goa Mix" [pt 7] ' of that set, so yes there is more. Search paul oakenfolds 'the goa mix' [pt 1] for the start of the set...goes all the way thorugh to pt 13
Its good but not the best essential mix. Leftfield 2000, dave clarke 2000 and mario piccotto are my best. PO would be about my 10th favourite but im more into techno and breakbeat than trance.
this was his best em by far he also did a great one live from a gatecrasher when he dropped piccotto lizard it sounded epic its a pity he went hollywood on his day no one could touch him
Anyone who likes this mix should check out the mix he done earlier that year: 19/03/1994, everyone thinks Goa is the mix that brought trance to the airwaves but it was his earlier mix where he started with this sound. I actually prefer his first 1994 EM,but thas was the first EM I ever heard. Great when you're E'd out of your face. (^_^)
dscshift, good as gold!.... look forward to hearing that bladerunner mix more than i can express. No pressure, i`ve been waiting to hear it again for ever, so a little while longer won`t hurt. x
mate not half....best mix of the century. I recorded it from the essential mix...pete tong....gone but never forgoten. I don`t suppose anyone has the full recrding do they, (not the cd journeys but the radio mix) mine got lost in transit. Or some die hard nicked it. I think i would give my right arm for it x
Yeah, sorry to say, you guys are old. Trance was just starting when this was recorded (1994). Goa trance was still pretty young too. 1994 was by no means the heyday of Trance.
Unfortunately, I would have to agree that Trance is in decline now, but electronic music as a whole is flourishing.

there is no difference, guetta has always been untalented, unlike Oakie.

because he likes to behave as a douche, but no one cant deny he is very talented.
Guetta is a douche and he is not talented at all.

what did your comment mean then. You said "The proper mix, not bought on cd." I'm telling you it's the exact same mix, why does the format matter?
dscshift 3 years ago
journeys by dj cd. not the same as the pete tong essent selection.
radiowizard123 2 years ago
This is the proper mix, not like he re-recorded it later or anything.
BBC just tapes all their Essential Mixes.

Mate, you are only 22. Sorry, son, you missed the party. You're a decade late.
Although there are some cracking artists these days like Above & Beyond and Cape Town, trance is in decline.
The golden age of trance is over.

It's only dead if you let it be.
I didn't post these to say I was there or wow what a great ride it was.
I posted them to show the journey trance took and where it all began.
