  • What about those with RH negative blood types? Would the same diet be beneficial for those who are A+ and A- ?

  • sorry if my question is off topic!, its just baffling to me.

  • hi, since becoming a donor i realized i was O Rh neg .. now this means negative to be traced to the rhesus monkey right? so if we are not evolved from a monkey .. then could you please tell me what we are evolved from or why this factor is missing... kind regards.

  • Type o ftw

  • Hello i am AB+ and i eat pork with little bit blood outside, that is bad or good for me? Because i love it!

  • @DjAnelex lol

  • Excellent video, really made things clear!

  • gud video

  • @virtualmedstudent i have read that only AB positive blood is the universal recipient and can take from any other blood type but AB negative cannot take from any other blood type. I read AB negative and only give blood to and recieve blood from AB positive. I would like to ask is this the truth?

  • @drumsweet It depends on whether or not you are talking about plasma (the non-red blood cell component of donated blood) or packed red blood cells (the purified cellular component of donated blood). People with AB positive blood are universal recipients for packed red blood cell transfusions, and they are universal plasma donors (this is because their plasma contains no antibodies, if it did they would chew up their own red blood cells!!!). Hope this helps clear things up...

  • @virtualmedstudent I was talking about the pure blood cells. I am aware that AB negative and positive blood types can donate plasma to any other blood type. I think I should rephrase my question. Can AB negative blood accept blood from any other blood type like AB positive blood can?

  • Thanks makes sense we give wat the pt needs u guys are the best

  • I dont understand.... if blood group O is a universal donor and it has both A and B anitbodies and i give blood O to a A blood group person isnt the A antibody going to attack the A antigen on the surface of blood group A???? please help so confusing

  • @eckostar61 - good point! Group O is a universal RED BLOOD CELL donor only. They are not a universal plasma donor (which is where the antibodies reside). Therefore when you receive "blood" from a universal type O donor you are only receiving the red blood cells and not the plasma, which is separated during purification process. In contrast, type AB blood group individuals are universal PLASMA donors because they have no antibodies in their plasma. Hope this helps!

  • @virtualmedstudent appreciate the help man. i didnt get that either

  • Mine says "O - Reg"

Is that type "O" but negative?

  • @Omnignosis Hi - "O - Neg" blood means that you have type O blood (ie: you make antibodies against both the A and B antigen), and the "neg" part means that you have no Rh antigen on your red blood cells. Rh antigen is another protein (just like the A and B proteins) that is present on some people's red blood cells. People who are "O-neg" have no Rh antigen and therefore make antibodies against this protein as well.

  • @virtualmedstudent

    Thanks for the response.

It says "R"-e-g though, not "N." Does REG stand for "regular?"

  • @virtualmedstudent Is it possible to change your blood type? I have psoriasis and it's a plague on my life. I understand a bone marrow transplant would enable a blood type changeover, right?

  • @Highwaycrazy. When someone undergoes a bone marrow transplant their own bone marrow is effectively destroyed and the donor's bone marrow takes over. Since bone marrow is responsible for producing red blood cells, the recipient effectively inherits the blood type of the donor. So yes, it is "possible" to change your blood type, but only under conditions requiring bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, psoriasis is not usually an indication for bone marrow transplant.

  • you rock... you explain it simple to understand. thanks.

  • cheers mate! appreciate it.............

  • This was really really helpful! THANKYOU!

  • Fantastic:-) it was explained in a logical fashion which made it really easy to understand....not that it was a difficult consept to comprehend but because it was explained in a linear, logical fashion, it was easier to recall during exam time:-)

  • Excellent Video
