This is the Obama money laundering machine. Just like he does through the unions. He extends loans to his buddies with the full knowledge that they won't pay it back. The taxpayer gets screwed and the mainstream press covers it up for him.
Just seven months after California-based solar power company Amonix Inc. opened its largest manufacturing plant, in North Las Vegas, the company’s contractor has laid off nearly two-thirds of its workforce.Flextronics Industrial, the Singapore solar panel manufacturer that partnered with Amonix to staff the new $18 million, 214,000-square-foot plant, laid off about 200 of its 300-plus employees Tuesday.
Earlier this week, Stimulus beneficiary Evergreen Energy bit the dust. Then, Ener1, a manufacturer of batteries for electric vehicles and recipient of Stimulus largesse, filed for bankruptcy. And today, the Las Vegas Sun reports that Amonix, Inc., a manufacturer of solar panels that received $5.9 million from the Porkulus, will cut two-thirds of its workforce, about 200 employees, only seven months after opening a factory in Nevada.
-- Solar Reserve, a $737 million loan, and whose major investor is a company run by Michael Froman, who was a deputy assistant to the president. Froman bundled up to $500,000 for the president's 2008 campaign
-- Granite Reliable Wind Generation, received a $168.9 million loan. The company's majority owner is a firm formerly led by Nancy Ann DeParle, now a White House deputy chief of staff and former head of the president's health care communications team during the reform debate
-- Solyndra, received $535 million in loan guarantees and whose chief investor was the George Kaiser Family Foundation. George Kaiser was an Obama campaign bundler.
-- Brightsource Energy, which received $1.6 billion and whose senior adviser is Robert Kennedy, Jr., an early Obama backer
-- Abound Solar, received a loan guarantee worth $400 million. A key investor is billionaire Pat Stryker, who gave $87,000 to Obama's inauguration committee, and hundreds of thousands more to Democrat causes.
This clip is biased and distorted in the extreme. For example, they fail to mention that the clean-energy loan programme was started under George Bush's administration.
The Koch Bros have spent millions on putting a negative spin on this story to further their own agenda and Fox News are more than happy to oblige.
They are all on the same team. It's so bad now that Mittens Romney and Barry Soetoro or whatever his real name is BOTH have the same financial backers!!
If once proud America doesn't reinstate its founding principles, the whole world is about to turn into Somalia.
@StuumpGonk Okay idiot, The bush administration turned down the Solyndra loan because they knew the company and technology was crap. The obama administration reversed course on that decision and insisted on giving them our money anyway despite warnings from even there own administration. Then when Solyndra was about to go belly up they rewrote the terms of the loan to make sure Obama's friend got his money back first and the tax payers got screwed. "Koch brothers" my ass, you idiot.
@jamo387 Personal insults aren't a good way to make a point. V childish.
The Bush admin didn't turn down Solyndra - you're misrepresenting the facts, and such distortion has been widespread in rightwing US media. The Bush admin were in the process of approving the loan when Obama took office but were held up pending further analysis.

@StuumpGonk Hmmm? YOU say The Koch bros. I say George Soros? Are you really dumb enough to believe that ONLY the Koch bros are in on this game? Soros and Media Matters are the antipathy of your own charges. Yet somehow you ignore all of that and fixate on the Koch bros? Soros has spent 10 times what the Koch bros have managed for the last 13 years. HE and Ariana Huff and Puff formed the democratic shadow party in 2000. OBUMA created the SOLYNDRA fiasco. NOT Bush. Like it or not.
@101orson101 At what point did I say the Koch Bros are the only businessmen who engage in 'this game' of lobbying and contributing finance to political groups?? Of course they're not, and to suggest I did is prevarication.
Adverts paid for by George Soros are not the subject of the video, so why would I mention him? The reason I 'fixate' on the Koch Bros is because they're directly involved with the story, and Soros isn't. Good grief.
@StuumpGonk An interesting defense. BUT? A hollow argument at best. YOU SAID:
"The Koch Bros have spent millions on putting a negative spin on this story to further their own agenda and Fox News are more than happy to oblige."
YOU opened the door to that debate. I answered it. Any accusation opened allows a rebuttal in any open forum. That is simply how it works. I know you don't like rebuttals. But you don't control the rules either.
@StuumpGonk HOW is George Soros linked to the SOLYNDRA debacle?
In a July 13 post on its in-house blog ThinkProgress titled “The Loan Arranger: Time to Rescue Clean Energy Funding,” the George Soros-backed nonprofit urged Congress to continue funding the Department of Energy’s loan guarantee program.
Yet no one ever says anything about Soros funded organizations like are mentioned for the Koch bros? Media Matters. CREW. Move on d-t o-g. APOLLO, who wrote the OBUMA stimulus bill?
@StuumpGonk The results of the Congressional probe shared Tuesday with ABC News show that less than two weeks before President Bush left office, on January 9, 2009, the Energy Department's credit committee had voted against offering a loan commitment to Solyndra.
@StuumpGonk Even after Obama took office on Jan. 20, 2009, analysts in the Energy Department and in the Office of Management and Budget were repeatedly questioning the wisdom of the loan. In one exchange, an Energy official wrote of "a major outstanding issue" -- namely, that Solyndra's numbers showed it would run out of cash in September 2011.
@StuumpGonk There was also concern about the high-risk nature of the project. Internally, the Office of Management and Budget wrote that "the risk rating for the project sponsor [Solyndra] … seems high." Outside analysts had warned for months that the company might not be a sound investment.
@StuumpGonk Peter Lynch, a New York-based solar energy analyst, told ABC News it took only a cursory glance through Solyndra's prospectus to see there was a problem with their numbers.
"It's very difficult to perceive a company with a model that says, well, I can build something for six dollars and sell it for three dollars," Lynch said. "Those numbers don't generally work. You don't want to lose three dollars for every unit you make."
@jamo387 'moron' eh? I can cut n paste too! Could do it all day if I could be bothered.
'..Bush energy officials wanted to get the loan closed on their way out the door — it was listed as the first of their "three highest priorities through January 15." (Obama took office Jan. 20) But the Energy Department's credit committee held things up for more analysis.'
The Bush admin voted not to proceed with the loan at that time, I've never said otherwise, but it remained on their agenda.
@StuumpGonk Love Americans for Prosperity. Great group. Steve Lonegan ROCKS !! You could learn a thing or two from them.
