Eric Burdon ♥ sexy man...sexy voice...just sexy all around when he was young. someone get me a time machine i need to marry this man ♥ The Animals are so badass and highly underrated. They helped define the 60's. With melodies, harmonies, and lyrics like this, The Animals should have been as big as The Stones or The Beatles (even though beatles are my absolute favorite band) You can tell by the songwriter, Eric was always a deep thinker and quite mysterious.

@kht777 i`m responding to your comment a year later. one of the many reasons the beatles were far more successful than the other groups of the time,i believe, was the contribution of their producer george martin [ a trained classical musician] in helping with their arrangements. still, the beatles would not have gotten very far without their sheer creative genius.

seems like in his later versions his voice got worse, from drugs and alcohol? He sure rocked in his youth though...

@MsBixy respoding ayear later. he`s one of the few singers who`s voice actually has improved in his later years. at least that`s what i`m hearing in these later clips of him. i`m guessing he`s in his late 50`s or close to 60 on the later videos.

@MsBixy responding a year later. i think his voice, unlike most singers of that ilk, has improved. listening to these later clips, [he must be close to 60 in some of these later clips] it sounds to me like he can do everything he did in the 60`s + a lot more.

Eric Burdon was so cool, and was the bad ass of the 60s. If they (the Animals) had their own material to grow with after those early days, who knows how big they could have been. That really seperated them from the Beatles and Stones, they just didn`t have quite the songwriting magic and thus they floundered a bit at the end of the decade.

Animals was more influential than the official history writes. The Doors copied their act 75%, Morrison even tried imitate Burdon`s vocals although his abilites didn`t allow it.

@MargusKiistheCritic good points. Morrison gets 2 much credit 4 songs that are not very great .. Hello I love you, Riders on the Storm, etc. Sure greats asBreak on Through & Crystal Ship and Soul Kitchen can be lyrically minimalistic & great but when you see Jim's writing one thinks he couldn't write a great coherent song longer than the 2 min record man he was except Light My Fire was written by Robbie and Ray made it a great song more so than Jim.
