  • Manitas de plata (Bajardo) and his cousin

Jose Reyes are the parents of "The Gipsy

    Kings".No wonder of their greatness

  • The hand at 1:45 looks like the hand of satan

  • WOW!!! Awesome!!!!

  • everyone shut the hell up, do you hear the crowd commenting? no, because words dont do him justice, just sit back shed some tears in happiness and repeat, dont forget protection...

  • how the hell does he pick so fast? apart from being extremely talented of course!

  • @ all complainers : this is FLAMENCO , he learned himself ( without living in Andalucia ) just by copying the sounds of the gitanos from Spain . Many many players in Spain are amazed by his tecnique , rasgeos , strength of fingers , picados . Flamenco is for all people , given by Indian , Hebrew and Spanish deserters of armees and Gitanos from Spain . And if you play , immitate these sounds you play Flamenco , how good or beginning stadium you are , peace , Alex de Lisa ♪♥♪

  • Taranta is the song of mourning for the miners of eastern Andalusia.

  • Que arte tiene el tipo!

  • gaddafi lol

  • @MGXPoWER2525 ; so funnyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy , hahahahahaaaaaaaaa

  • how is it possible to be this good?

  • speedy gonzales XD

  • you know, i don't know anything about flamenco really except the things that you hear people say about compas and such, but i have noticed this; every youtube video of a flamenco guitarist is filled with comments about 1. the guy being "a god" or 2. the guy sucks and doesn't play authentic flamenco, now like i say,i don't know much about flamenco but i 'suspect' this is just the way you people are.and has nothing to do with the players

  • He is a "virtuoso". You may not like Flamenco, but "boring" ????!!!!!!

  • He's Brilliant .One of the Greats

  • Gypsy Flaaaaaame

  • Yeah.. Paco plays loads of other stuff besides flamenco.

But the point is that Paco doesn't utterly SUCK at playing guitar like this "manitas de bosta"

This guy's musics are almost THE SAME

  • They didn't understand Jimmie Hendrix either!

    Brilliant!

  • this isn't flamenco! no compas, no aire..

  • @GuitarraFlamenca1000 Why is that important? He is a true artist, one of the greatest guitar players ever. Even Segovia said so :-)) He improvises and creates flamenco, his music is extremely passionate and impacts emotions, that is what a great artist does, plays with soul... the music is everything, not the forms and compas :-))

  • @Bret6464

do you know the word "aire" ? a musician who has aire plays with emotions and passion. Compas and Aire belong together. A musician who doesnt play a compás has a bad aire imo. And this isn't Flamenco. He said that what he plays is flamenco, but he knows nothing about this art.

  • @GuitarraFlamenca1000 What is Flamenco ? Do Paco de Lucia or Sabica plays traditional Flamenco ? The answer is NO. Originally, the guitar was exclusively used as accompanying instrument for cante and baile. The tocaores only played a few chords. Later, they started to play melodies with their thumb only (el alzapua). Anything else is not true Flamenco. Rasqueo, tremolo, picado, arpegio were added later. Hence, real original Flamenco is a few chords and some basic melodies played with the thumb.

  • @wanderatlarge

    Learn to write dude: Rasgeado

This is bullshit. For example Chicuelos music is Flamenco, because !!! he compose a Buleria, Alegria, Fandangos de Huelva or Tangos. Manitas just plays a simple piece with has nothing to do with the flamenco-estilos. Flamenco is only a word for these many estilos. When you dont play a Flamenco-estilo you dont play flamenco.

  • @GuitarraFlamenca1000 Listen, Dude: Rasgeado is in Castellano. As an "expert" you probably know, Flamenco is originated from Andalucia. In Andaluz, it is called Rasqueo , Rasgueo, Rageo or Rageao depends on the region. In Sevilla, some call it Rasqueo. Check out Manolo Vargas (born in Sevilla) Bulerias Introductional DVD - Chapters on Rasqueo. Or check F.G. Lorca De Granada A La Luna CD - one of the recording studio is Estudios Rasqueo, Granada.

This was a free lesson.Learn Flamenco, Dude.

  • @wanderatlarge

Haha, i live in Granada, you would you really say, i wouldn't what real flamenco is?

  • @GuitarraFlamenca1000 Apparently not. As I explained ( you did not reply to that one ) Rasgeado is in Castellano. Not knowing that in Andalucia they call it Rasqueo, Rasgueo, Rageo and Rageao tells me a lot about your Flamenco knowledge. Also, you never heard Manitas de Plata playing Buleiras ? OK, check out on Youtube "Manitas De Plata: Bulerias De Plata - 1963 Connoisser Society Recording"

BTW, I lived close to Malaga for a while, so I know a thing or two about Andalucia...

  • @wanderatlarge

Bulerias de Plata- Are you Serious?

This "Bulería" is completely fuera de compás. You don't know that? That tells ME a lot about YOUR Flamenco knowledge. In Granada we say: (Rracheado or Rracheo). I never heard Rasqueo (thus Raskeo) before. You may know the theory of Flamenco better than I, but i know what Flamenco is. And Manitas de Plata just disrespect this art. He's a french Payo and think that he know something about Flamenco.

  • @GuitarraFlamenca1000 . Segovia said that one must practice scales 3 hours a day to be perfect. Well, I can program my computer that can play perfect scales and compas but has no heart. To a lot of people passion , feeling and playing with heart is more important. But I understand what you say.

I have nice memories of Spain, "Se LLama Copla", "radiole" , Rosario Flores, Nina Pastori, La Hungara

And of course, my favorite India Martinez. Adios and be careful with the toro :-)

  • @GuitarraFlamenca1000 @GuitarraFlamenca1000 How incredibly childish! Grow up. Manitas de Plata is about music, not about flamenco with it's millions of little silly rules....

And Manitas - I've met him several times and played together with him - is a gipsy, not a payo (not that it matters)

  • @kolonodale

Manitas' don't even making music (for me).

He's just playing fast scales up and down.

  • @GuitarraFlamenca1000 Just because I am in a good mood , I will let you into an other Flamenco secret:

Rumba is now considered as a Flamenco-estilos. It is called Rumba Flamenca. One of the best Flamenco teacher worldwide, Gerhard Graf-Martinez has a book/DVD "Gipsy Guitar" Rumba Flamencas. For more reference , see the "Enciclopedia de los estilos flamencos. De la A a la Z" ( a 12 CD box set ) and Disco 9. begins with Rumbas.

Oh, there is so much to learn and so little time...

  • @wanderatlarge

Hahahaha :D Graf Martinez isn't a good teacher, he's German :D. Okay, in Granada we love to play rumba on a juerga. Camaróns "Como El Agua" is also a Rumba. And Camarón is a Flamenco-legend. But i haven't heared a Bulerías by Manitas. Rumba is nice, but a Guitarrist who ONLY plays Rumba isn't a Flamencoguitarrist.

  • @european1001 IT????? OK......

    WEIRDO..... x'D

  • DITKA Vs. Manitas de Plata. Tough decision, but......DITKA.

  • @jebsievers hahahaha

  • and i thought i was the only one who played picado technique with the 1st and ring finger. i started playing flamenco in the mid 60`s trying to learn licks from records slowed down. there were no flamencos probably within 100 miles. a few years later some crazy rock player told me your supposed to use 1 and 3rd finger for picados. but later learned no 1 did that. too stubborn to change i thought it might be a handicap. but this clip turns that around. 1/2 his speed good enough for i

  • eso es

  • THIS DUDE IS BADASS

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH PRIMOREGIME13 FOR ENLIGHTING ME ABOUT PACO DE LUCIA. HIS TECHNICAL SKILLS ARE OBVIOUS AND STUNNING. AND HE REMINDS ME OF ANDRES IN HIS MASTRY OF THE GUITAR. HOWEVER, HE DOESN’T HAVE THE RAW PRIMATIVE SURGING POWER AND EXCITEMENT OF “LITTLE HANDS”. NOR DOES HE HAVE THE CHARISMA. NOT THAT CHARISMA MAKES A GREAT MUSICIAN BUT IT SURE ADDS TO THE TOTAL PACKAGE. THAT TOMATIO IS KNOCK-OUT CITY. THANK YOU FOR BOTH.

DO YOU LIKE FAHEY AND BASHO?

  • PART 2

WORDS ARE SUCH A POOR SUBSTITUTE FOR HOW I FEEL ABOUT “LITTLE HANDS OF GOD”. SORRY FOR THE CHANGE OF HIS NICKNAME. I LOVE THIS MAN. HE’S 89 AND HE LOOKS SO NOBLE AND VIBRANT. HE’S A WORLD TREASURE. AN ARTIST THAT IS CONSTANTLY CREATING AND IMPROVISING. OTHER ARTIST SEEM TO GET WORN OUT SINGING THERE GREATEST HITS OVER AND OVER. YOU CAN SEE IT IN THEIR EYES. NOT THIS MAN, HE’S LOVING HIS LIFE AND WE LOVE HIM. JOHN, ANDRES AND MANITAS. WHAT A GUITAR TRINITY..

  • PART 1

GIVE ME JOHN(FAHEY), ANDRES(SEGOVIA) AND RICHARD(MANITAS DE PLATA) AND I’M A HAPPY BOY. I DON’T NEED ANYTHING ELSE IN LIFE. JOHN STEINBECK SAID, “A GREAT AND SAVAGE ARTIST. PABLO PICASSO MURMERED, “THAT MAN IS OF GREATER WORTH THAN I AM”, THEN PROCEEDED TO NOT SIGN HIS GUITAR LIKE SON HOUSE DID WITH ME, BUT DRAW ON IT. CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT. I FEEL HELPLESS TRYING TO COMMENT ON THE MASTER.

  • @ELVIS4221 The best guitarist of all time and of Spain, is Paco de Lucia, also Tomatito.

  • And his technique isn't the best.. Listen to Manolo Sanlucars "Oracion" and you know how what the "art" of trémolo is.

  • @GuitarraFlamenca1000 Thats great, too bad we don't find any quality videos of such guitarists nowadays.

Listen to Oracion by Grisha Goryachev. Its a killer tremolo too.

    =)

  • @MrFranciscoFidalgo

    Grisha IS a killer ;)

  • @GuitarraFlamenca1000 Btw, do you know which pattern Grisha's tremolo on his Oracion cover ? Pami or piami?

  • @MrFranciscoFidalgo

Yes its an combination of both:

Bass; PIAMI-ami-ami-ami-ami-ami-ami Bass; PIAMI-ami --- and so on

When i play a slow Taranta like "fuente y caudal" from Paco I use a PIAMIAMI trémolo, sounds good for slow stuff...

  • @GuitarraFlamenca1000 I added you.

I have a question for you, but it is a big question, so I need to send PM, which you set only for friends =)

  • @MrFranciscoFidalgo

    lets go ;)

  • should this be a Taranta?

sorry but this doesnt sound like real flamenco

  • @GuitarraFlamenca1000 This guy is (or was) so good and he got lost on its own, very impressive, technique and he forgets about melody.

This is basically like a Steve Vai shredding session, were he pulls of impressive fast stuff without missing one single note. Too bad it doesn't sound hear candy on a melodic approach.

I which I could be this good anyway.

  • @MrFranciscoFidalgo

Maybe he is good, but this kind of "pseudo-flamenco" is annoying me..

  • The reason why Dali, Picasso, and other artists and lliterary giants sought this genious was his pasting of dissonant yet luring (never equaled) guitar sounds into a magnetic picture. All that enjoyed his work were already familiar with what was produced in the tablaos. Last time I saw him live was in Hershey Hall. Prior had seen him in NY and London. A creative giant just as Paco and Sabicas and Ramon will always be, each with a different approach.

  • I am an oldie and I saw this man in Birminghaj /england in 1968 and was blown away then. He walked around the audience playing and I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I still think he is amazing 42 years later!

  • Menudo capullo macho...

  • Thanks Wordreet. I'll have a look:-)

  • something just went pop in my head after watching that...

  • Does somebody understand corrida? Yes? No? This is not boring; this is culture... Maybe not yours. (Message to Nauticus89)

  • @FeeTurbule sorry, but culture can be boring like hell, since when does boredom have anything to do with culture??

  • Comment removed

  • this man is incredible

  • stuprndous!

    coraclewoman

  • boring

  • U guys are just jealous that u can't play like this. Look at his guitar, it's past its time and yet he plays it effortlessly. He's a phenom. You all who critic him so harshly should stick to using ur hands for what u do best!

  • @kanuhearme . Hi plays very well (I wish I could play like that), but have no feeling. He do not creates nothing. Is like a Japanese: Can mimic and copy what ever they want, but no soul.

  • @MeoDeng

search jose tanaka and try to tell me the japanese can have no duende

  • @kikkom4n nope, the guy does not have duende.

  • @luciferiexcelsil

and do you believe that manitas does despite not even fulfilling the bare minimum requirements of playing base flamenco?

    ie not following compas?

  • @kikkom4n duende has nothing to do with being good at playing or not.

  • @luciferiexcelsil

i did not say that he had to be good at playing (he is though).

i am saying that in a teaching mode, one would most likely not be playing in a way to be most expressive. in an actual performance setting, it would be easier to see.

besides, i think he has plenty of duende

  • @luciferiexcelsil

perhaps you saw his teaching videos.

maybe if you saw his actual performance videos where he accompanies cante you'll see otherwise?

    watch?v=gJP7XcThcfg

  • @MeoDeng You're right about him not playing with feeling. I watched El Nino Miguel and man was I truly blown away! I could feel the music to the bone but with this guy it just pure show.

  • Totally AWESOME!!!!!

  • THE MAESTRO. JUST WONDERFUL

  • is out of the tempo, so many picadoss to imprese the audience that he looses the tempo, he was lucky to live in France where he could cheat everybody, in Spain he would not make a living with this

  • @piratillacibernetico

A soloist may vary the tempo as he likes....ritardando, accelerando, fermata.....

Accompanying dancers is something different, and I bet Manitas can do it.

  • @piratillacibernetico He's better than you

  • @piratillacibernetico I agree. He does not cheat me. I do not buy him.

  • @piratillacibernetico Tell us the Spanish players that are or were as good as him, and we will buy their music too.

  • @wordreet I'm not much up dated, but listen any thing of:

    - Paco de Lucia

    - Manolo Sanlucar

    - Tomatito

    - Vicente Amigo

Or better, search here in youtube for: Niño Migueltoca

  • @MeoDeng Thanks, I will. :¬) In the meantime, a completely different style of acoustic guitarist is Andy Mckee. check him out.

  • @piratillacibernetico you're an idiot.

  • @piratillacibernetico Dumb ass, he's playing solo, his tempo IS the tempo, he can change it as he pleases. There is no obligation to follow a metronome

  • @joe78man Sure he can change it. Then it is no longer flamenco, but a modern mish-mash which is ok if you like mish-mash. I don't complain that Elvis was not flamenco, just like this Manitas guy does not play flamenco but plays a mish-mash of flamenco-like razzmatazz to impress the audiences and draw in more money. Perico del Lunar, Melchor de Marchena, the Moron de la Frontera artists, Paco Cepero, etc. grab my soul and speak to it. Manitas' torrents of notes put me to sleep.

  • Good song, great technical player although faster doesn't = better

  • I saw Manitas 30 years ago in Uk. He was playing in a small movie theatre. On the first night there were only about 300 people there. The next night the place was full and a line of around 1000 people waiting outside. After the show was over, he held an unscheduled second performance for those who had been waiting in the raIn. The next day I bought his album Guitare D'Or. Anyone who appreciates his magnificent wild, frenetic artistry must get it !

  • i have never heard or seen anyone play guitar like this.

How can he not get credit he deserves and the music today is pathetic

    LONG LIVE OLD GREATS

  • Please stop calling this Flamenco... this is *NOT* Flamenco...

  • i hope every one knows that he actually isnt spanish, he's french, but he sure plays flamenco better than any spanish player ive heard of, truly one of the greatest guitarists. he's the reason why picked up on flamenco guitar, its difficult to play though, much different than the usual classical music i play.

  • @almostdriving It doesn't matter, have you ever heard Grisha Goryachev? That dude is Russian and he plays almost as well (if not as well) as this man. It's all in the heart. Who cares who is Spanish..

  • @almostdriving He is gipsy, he may have a french passport being born in France, but his culture is spanish gipsy, from a comunity of gipsies who immigrated from spain to the south of france during the twenties and thirties of last century and still keep in speaking gipsy spanish and playing flamenco rumba, a sort of flamenco created from mixing andalucian flamenco with carabean rumba.

  • fuckin legend

  • saw this man play one fine evening in Antibes....1978 awesome The greatest flamenco player???

  • extra terrestre !!! ....... Comment fait il ?

  • I happened upon Manitas on BBC's Guitar Heros the other night & relived my childhood adoration of this genius. As with David Mason, his music has left a great impression and I cry when I hear it.! I have always been fascinated by the Romany culture, which brings that added dimension to the music.

Has anyone been to the Romany pilgrimage in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer?

    Elaine Sturman

  • flamenco is manitas and never ever will there be another

  • It's incredible how natural it come to him to do such divine playing. He practiced a whole lot. He is on my "to-listen-to" list from now on.

  • I have to say that this is one of my favourite musicians of all time. His music is unpolished and raw, but it is real, despite what all the so called purists would say. I wish i had heard this man play live. His music has left a great impression and brings tears to my eyes! I hope that he eventually gets the recognition he deserves.

  • @MrDavidMason I saw him live in the 60s at the Albert Hall London England and I have never forgotten him It is a shame that in my travels i lost the program Hw ia truly a Meastro

  • Makes one feel proud to be Spanish......Until,of course, the grotesque spectacle of abomination is remembered...Bullfighting....Bullbaiting....

About time this sad nation heralds the true champions.

  • encore keep this spirit alive

    jajajajajajajajaajajAajajAJajAJajAJajAJajAJ

  • aaaaaaaaaaiii sangre flamencooooooo

  • 0:35 - LIGADOS ! Great technique. Just unbelievable .

  • iAy! Puede tocar la guitarra mas despacio? :P

  • And the Lesson is...You know the story of the guitar that cried abuse...or did it...millions of false guitar abuse cases are reported each year but this one has a case! Pa dam pam...

  • Clapton's the over-rated one.

  • his improvising is hilarious, it's almost in the style of Italian Opera Buffa... or like how Paganini's pieces were composed... and I love his showmanship, he's such a badass

  • Who said that the pick is faster than the hand?

OLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • He is sometimes too fast for his own good but I've liked him since I was a kid. He must sleep, eat and breathe the guitar.

  • :XXXXX

    Awesome, briliant, amazing!

  • genial.

    asi de simple

  • 1969 war mein vater 11 jahre alt er sah manitas de plata live in holland spielen

  • This man is my favourite musician of all. I wish I had heard of him when I was younger. He is simply a very great and individual entertainer. I'd like to see more of his playing.

  • Grande,Grande!

  • That is just ridiculous amounts of talent. I dont think I have ever seen anyone play a guitar quite like that!
