@temptaions: I thought about this questions and I have two theorys:

1) Enric called Max a few days ago but he didn't say anything and so Max hung up but he knew that it was Enric. Enric says he wanted to telephone him, he means he wanted but he could not do it.

2) Enric told Max in the past that he will telephone him (maybe on a certain day) but he didn't. And when Enric says "I wanted to telephone you" Max answers ironic: Yes, you wanted to telephone me a few days ago...
