This is for nothing, but the love of this man! There is a new documentary about Sly Stone. Search for "ON THE SLY: In Search of the Family Stone." A tribute to his soul and genius.
This is a man who once placed enormous sacrifice and efforts on helping those in need through his music. So I give him much love and respect always. And even though this performance was nebulous and fragmented, there's still tidbids of awesomeness holding it together. Love ya Sly.
Check out 'Sly Stone sues his former manager' video here on YouTube and maybe you will get a better understanding of why Sly is where he's at now. GET YOURS SLY!
at 5:38 it seems like he isn't singing...but his voice is still coming through. they just played the CD and he was supposed to sing or lip synch over it? or was that a back up vocalist trying to carry the water? sly is a legend. this is depressing.
Give Sly a break. The man broke his neck that's why he hold's it the way it does and those painkillers can be addictive. Besides him be wasted from the past and old age. He revaled all this on the Stone & Digital show!
They should get the band back together minus Sly and have Freddie front it. The rest of the originol band are still great. There is still greatness there.
Look, the Gorillaz are a manufactured piece of trash, and so is this, BUT...Sly has legacy. Gorillaz steal from that vibe. They are pop like mcdonalds. Sly is pop like you can't describe. He is unpredictable and rubs all you hipsters the wrong way I see. it's quite hilarious all the panzy ass voices going " I can't believe this" while they are waiting to get their nails done. Boys are so effeminite now. They need to be held by their daddies who left them . My woman could knock the shit out them
I thought Sly Stone was dead. after seeing this video, now I know he is. why would these money hungry assholes allow a Guy in his condition take the stage?
I feel sorry for his daughter. She must be mortified. There's no excuse for this, I don't care who you are. I am a massive fan of his but I would have happily kicked his ass into next Christmas for this even if he is 70 or whatever.
it was that englishman journalist steve hands who wrote a condemning article on sly in 2006 crucifying him for being unable to perform like 1968 but at least hes giving it a go and out to prove them wrong anyway. i stopped watching at the vocoder incident please take this video down
Shut Up! He's a star and none of of you can ever come close!! Easy for you to sit back on your stupid computers saying dumb ass shit like you think you know anything about any of this.
No "keyboard technical problems" here, it's more like a mental breakdown problem some 30 years ago, still happening....Very,very sad.....(Note:He is trying to play a vocoder without pressing the keys...)
If you have love in your heart, please pray for this situation. I don't know all the facts, ut I know someone who does...God in heaven does. We don't know if there's pain, shame, guilt, temptation or what kind stronghold he's unable to let loose. Sly made us feel happy when things were going good. We have to return our love by being supportive in prayers and respect for those who can't see their way. "Stand" by Sly just like his sister does so proudly in this video. Sorry this is long.
Oof... this was just brutal to watch. I was there from the beginning to end, and it was heart-wrenching to see the band in such an uncomfortable scene. Eventually people booed, things were thrown, & the crowd got fed up. I can't convey the uncomfortable feeling in the tent. It was simultaneously epic, and tragic. Hot fun, family affair, and if you want me, were at moments, glorious, but they all fell apart It coulda been the moment of the weekend, but instead, it was the punchline. Sad... :(

I'm sure his family is doing it's best to help keep him together. Prays wouldn't hurt. Looking forward to the studio work.
