I used to be homophobic but when Mark Bingham defeated the hijackers on 9/11 my attitude completely changed. There's alot of good in this comment by Gore, but I think his best point involves "why is gay marriage a threat to hetero marriage?" I don't get that. Why are heteros threatened if gays have rights? Good for you for coming out early. I am 28, and I think that if I had come out earlier (I came out in my early 20s), things would have been a lot easier. Especially nowadays, we fear rejection that just does not exist. It is really a question of being comfortable with yourself, more than anything. If you are comfortable with yourself and are confident, that's generally what you'll get back.

Do you not approve of adoption to heterosexuals that are unfertile? You cannot throw out a comparison like that.. homosexuals want children, then let them see the light on how beings are intended to exist, and they can have children of their own. Correct, there is not one way to live, but there is only one way to procreate and continue the species, which kind of tells you the lifestyle one should lead, at least on the basic primal level.

Why would you compare gays to child molesters, when in fact child molesters are DISPROPORTIONATELY heterosexual? Read the studies. And, arguably, overpopulation is the single greatest threat to our planet and all of humanity, so perhaps REDUCING reproduction is the key to saving us all. (Yet, there is no rational reason gay people should not have kids if they want, since they usually make the decision consciously and lovingly, instead of having a kid "by mistake.")

He is a very public person, and that is what is needed in order to get the message across to the public. Yes he should have said something sooner, but it matters that he is saying it now.
