I remember my first jump like it was yesterday. I dropped my Rucksack at tree level, and it got snagged on a tree branch. I had to cut/release away, I fell 40 feet straight down, and broke my leg.

By 1943 standard in today’s dollars a PFC’s pay, foreign duty and combat bonus amounted to 2,943 dollars per month. Sergeant with sufficient time-in-service and assuming sharpshooter, amounted to 4,185 dollars per month.
Hazardous Duty Incentive Pay for a paratrooper was 1,887 per month in today’s dollars. A PFC’s aircrew Incentive Pay was 940 dollars a month, and that was 1,320 dollars per month for a Sergeant.
@MrOhiostateboy yea my uncle also almost got to be a H.A.L.O free fall warrior but he wasn't able to because his knees were injured from a record of 1,750 jumps.
In 1963 it was 1) stand up 2) hook up 3) check static line 4) check equipment 5) sound off for equipment check 6) stand in the door 7) GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

quick quiz....the L on the platform is for left door ,WHY ARE THEY JUMPING TO THE RIGHT....IF YOU FLUNK...YOU NO JUMP BEFORE...THATS ME LOOKING OUT THE DOOR...."I AINT GOING OUT THERE"
@angrobp the jump doors are designated in relation to direction of flight; that is the left jump door that they are jumping-when they jump, they are facing towards the rear of the aircraft, so the left jump door is on the jumper's right-Hooah-I was an instructor at Airborne School 1977-1980-
trying to decide between air assault (101st) or airborne (82nd). both of em kickass and i'd be proud to serve in either of em. they both have long and proud histories as well
@bikepeddlar6 go with the 82nd they are amercas guard of honor basically if the president wants something done now he calls the 82nd they are resopnsible for more taliban deaths than any other military unit
Stand up hook shuffle to the door, jump right out and count to four, if my main dont open wind, I got a reserve by my side, If that one should fail me too... Then Look Out Satan... Im coming Thru...
