do aircraft not carry life rafts? IF this was to happen in the northern atlantic it could take rescues a long time to arrive. I think they should use high speed military aircraft to drop in supplies like life wrafts if needed. A hovering high speed airplane could be used or modified to drop supplies. SOmething similar to the sr71 blackbird would get the supplies in quckly

There will never be such a successful emergency landing as that ever again. A exceptionally rare moment. A miracle! That pilot should be invited to the Whitehouse or Disney Land.
Once a Russian pilot did the same in 1963. As long as aircraft is manageable and pilots are professionals, this kind of landing is not a miracle. This situation is special because pilots did not have room for mistakes, had very little time.

I believe that the seat cushions are also designed to float as well. It's not exactly a raft, but you can hang on to it and stay afloat.

That is wild! I can't believe this it didn't turn out worse. Kudos to the pilot for not letting this turn into a huge disaster. It's a good thing he knew what he was doing or they would likely have all died. I wonder what happened to make the plane come down in the first place......either way I'm glad they survived!!!! :D

the pilot was a retiried fighter pilot...so you can bet he knew what he was doing...its awesome that not even 1 person died

Once a Russian pilot did the same in 1963. As long as aircraft is manageable and pilots are professionals, this kind of landing is not a miracle. This situation is special because pilots did not have room for mistakes, had very little time.

ya know, i really dont see what all the fuss and publicity is about, the plane was landed extrememly well by extremely experienced pilots, the passengers are all fine, and everything worked out great for everyone!
I mean really, we don't need THIS much news coverage of this shit. jeez. i swear in the last 3 or 4 days i have heard more about this crash then i have about the Presidential Inauguration...get over it.
