  • Those ferry captains are awesome...they did the same thing during 9/11 evacuating people off Manhattan

  • You can't help but think of 911 and what a tragedy this could have been had a pilot freaked out and hit a building in this situation. And not one single person died . . . he's a hero if there ever was one.

  • A real miracle no one died.

  • That's a real hero.

  • I would fly with Sully as my captain anytime!

  • won't call that a crash

  • Sully, you're a real hero

  • so apparently birds got stuck in the engines, but he probably would have flew over the birds if his balls werent weighing down the plane

  • Comment removed

  • @PatClone dude why are you such an a**hole

  • every one should have sucked the captains cock lol

  • amazingly sharp picture!

  • The pilot landed LIKE A BOSS!!

  • Another "must watch". The response time of the ferry pilots absolutely astonishes me. I mean, it's just not every day that a freakin' passenger plane (loaded with people or otherwise) lands in front of your daily commute. And the ferries are on that plane like white on rice. Kudos to the ferry pilots, and the people of New York in general, for how this was handled. Because had this happened in Dallas, people would've been swimming to shore.

  • @dianaramadani

    More luck than anything else.

  • @dnbmonster1 Wrote: "More luck than anything else."

"Luck" is a phenomenon which occurs when the threshold of preparation converges with the thresholds of opportunity and/or circumstance.

  • I'd call it a ditching, bloody awesome work.

  • It's very comforting to know, that a plane will stay floating when they have to do a water landing.

  • BOOOO!!! THE VIDEO CAN'T EVEN BE PLAYED WHEN FULLY LOADED!!! (N)

    wefwefwefwe wfwefwefwefwe

  • thats impossible, the plane could have broke by the engines flooding and making the plane tear apart

  • the copilot of this plane lives up the street from me

  • Were any animals hurt in the making of this video?

  • United States Coast Guard is... USCG... NOT

USGC! WHY am I the only one who noticed this?????

  • because you really rock!!! you are so awesome!!!

  • Fantastic! I wish there would've been sound, but still a must-see!

  • the escape slides can actually be used as life rafts

  • I believe that the seat cushions are also designed to float as well. It's not exactly a raft, but you can hang on to it and stay afloat.

  • @lolvks but they arer often disabled when the plane crashes quite hard.

  • @lolvks They can also be used as parachutes, see Mythbusters.

But yes, this awesome, great work on the crew in a very successful ditching, great work by the passengers for staying calm and not doing anything stupid, and yes, awesome job by the ferry boat operators in coming to their rescue. All in all, as successful a crash as you can hope to get.

  • @loperspest Yes, I watched that episode. The "parachute" ride actually looked fun to me, but in addition to why the mythbusters busted it, they didn't mention that planes do not hover, considering how unstable it was dropped from a helicopter, I'm sure it would flip and tumble out of control if dropped from an airbourne aircraft, killing you.

  • SR-71's don't hover like harriers..

  • because the Americans have never been able to make a VTOL that works

    :D

But Lockheed's on it now, and they're one of the best. So only a matter of time

  • @Sabre1677 because, you know, it's not like lockeed's an american-based company headquartered in bethesda, maryland or anything. you know, just saying.

  • @jgaignun Sorry, was I ambiguous? I knew they're American, that's what I meant

    I'm a fail at explaining, I know

  • Oh? and how would that work? I guess the planes could hover over the crashed airplane and throw down ladders? Sound like a good idea to me.

  • I don't get it...

  • With all due respect, while this video may have been "live" while it is shot, it is not "live" now. Normally, a better term would be "unedited," but you did edit it.

Best to just call it "footage" and be done with it.

  • ha well said wellfed

  • Um... seriously? Ok I didn't think it would happen but apparently I was wrong and people honestly couldn't tell that I was making a joke about this being filmed in 1549.

  • nice cover

  • Oh i get it, your trying to cover up your stupidity!

  • how about you comment the video an not each other mmk?

  • Are you stupid?

Have you ever heard of 9/11? The WTC is gone.

  • you're calling other people retards when you seem to think this was recorded in the yeay 1549, because yeah, there were lots of passenger planes and video cameras all around 450 years ago right?

  • Umm.... 1549 is the flight number. And good point, Raven.

  • yes, the stupidity of some people amazes me sometimes.

I mean, common sense and 10 years of science and social studies should make it easy enough for people to realize the fact that they had barely invented GUNS in 1549, let alone cameras and planes....

    *sigh*

    ...I pity the world...

  • Well /I/ pity the foo!

  • I saw on a news channel this pilot had like over 10 years experience as a glider pilot :). GJ to the PILOT! WIN!

  • He totally missed the WTC

    Fail terrorist is Fail

  • hahaha, epic!

  • Nice flying

  • Hmmm , im almost sad not to read the obligatory conspiracy theory nutter comments :-)

You know, telling us that this crash is fake and that the CIA forged this because the Hudson's water behaves incorrectly for this time of the year, that this is actually a predator drone, the waves are not fluid enough, the shadows dont fit and a real plane would have broken apart and bla bla bla bla.

    LoL

  • ...so how was your trip to New York, Bob? Anything exciting happen?

  • Where have you been for the last month?

  • Doesnt everyone know that gods not real? come on now people

  • I respect your opinion as much as I respect mine. The only difference is I have the common courtesy and manners to leave them to myself.

  • "God" is a definition, one which depends on the Person who holds the definition. If one defines God as some higher being separate from your own awareness, then yes this is not real. However, if one defines God as the source of all creation, the galactic infinite intelligence, infinitely big and infinitely small with life everywhere... then my friend your awareness, mine, all life's awareness, is the one "God" life awareness. One being here. No separation.

  • great video !! no one has really seen the actual accident happen ! thanks for sharing !

  • You are correct that the pilot didn't "keep all the metal/wings all things together." But I think that you can actually credit the people that designed and assembled the aircraft for that and not god.

  • I hope thats meant to be a joke...

  • No, not a joke; just fact.

  • thats incorrect, god is NOT fact.

  • oh, wait, your not the one preching that god saved everybody on the plane...

  • Yes, I think we are on the same side of the discussion. When you replied with "I hope that's meant to be a joke", I though you were referring to my comment that the credit goes to the engineers and the assembly workers. I now see that you were referring to 71Warrior4Jesus. I also thought that post was a joke too. If god saved these people why did he bother to have the engine go down in the first place? Anyway, sorry about the confusion.

  • ah, yes, then we are on the same side of the discussion. I dont have anything against religous people, but saying that "god wanted to show he cared, it was a divine interventio," is just flat-out ridiculous.

and who talks like that anymore? he sounds a bit, well, brainwashed, and a lot of religous people are.

  • It's a Concorde. I understand there is one on display in New York. at the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum which is right next to where the US Airways plane crashed. What an amazing co-incidence!

  • What's that plane doing above the crashed one at 3min 23secs?

  • It looks like it is used as a monument or something. It is not moving.

  • Interesting...and to a certain extent ironic! Thanks very much

  • yeah i see it

looks a lot like concorde to me though

I believe there's one in NY somewhere?

    could be that

  • It's probaply on the USS Intrepid

  • I am failing to see any irony in that video clip.

  • Heh, how ironic. When the three ferries come together, it looks like a large plane floating through the water.

  • they say they flew through a pack of geese and a few got sucked in the turbine and fucked it up

  • How about the douchebag on the flight who got a bloody nose and is now trying to sue US Airways for a million. Good luck arguing "an act of god" in the courts. Maybe you should be thankful to be alive.

  • @erato99

They have a duty of care no matter whether an act of god or not. They will win compensation.

  • what causes the plane to fail?

  • god bless them

  • Awsome! Check out the Gimli Glider for more tales of awsomeness.

  • ASTOUNDING live video.......Boy, what I could do to add SOUND to the ASTOUNDING!!

  • us i so stupid, they give medals of honour to ppl in the army, who all they do is kill innoccent ppl and this dude actuall y saved all these ppl and he doesn't get a medal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the twin towers are in the background of the first shot dumbass

  • jonbolerback, you have to apologize to pundikitten, what you are calling the twin towers are the time warner cable towers on 60 street and columbus circle!!!! please it will be nice to apologize!!! thanks if you do!!

  • sorry pundikitchen!!

  • wrong again.. pundi *t* kitchen :)

  • lol!! thanks highgrow

  • win.

  • Heroes, all.

  • No thank the pilot who had the skill and LUCK to pull a water landing off.

  • That pilot deserves a Congressional Medal of Honor just for keeping orderly chaos and landing the plane safely in the Hudson without severe injury.

  • Would hate to, live through that. But glad, it came out, all well. As all survived.

  • show you that air travel is preety safe

  • the odds of this happining again without disaster is still very unlikely

They combined alot of factors with a lot of luck

  • nerfwars103 you are retarded haha!!!!

  • Wow it is a fake great job nerfwars103

  • good job man ,,, go fuck ur self faker

  • nerfwars103, those are the Time Warner towers at Columbus Circle, 60th St. at Central Park. Can't you see they are about half the height of the WTC towers - not to mention thy are almost four miles north of where the WTC towers were?

  • thanks captain obvious

  • too bad those are not the twin towers tell your dad to look at a map once in awhile those buildings you are seeing are two different sky scrapers.......the twin towers would have been way off to the right because they were way downtown duh.

  • are you fuckin serious?

  • omg that pilot must have blood made of ice

  • the pilot must have recieved a medal :P

  • he fucking better

i didn't think it was possible to land a plane with BOTH engines failed

  • that must have sucked. but it was very fortunate they landed in the river. [no casualties]

plus if they had hit a building we'd have another war on our hands...

  • you is a pretty cool guy. eH kills fun and doesn't afraid of anything

  • What!? no-one has any conspiracys involving pres. bush?? that's odd, i'd figure all of you idiots would have something really retarded to say about this one.

  • Espero que ese piloto reciba una medalla por cada vida salvada

  • the pilot is the man

so if this is USCG footage, why the hell did it take so long for them to respond? They're RIGHT THERE

  • That is awesome the way it all came together. God bless that pilot.

  • YOU da man, Danville man!

  • it didn't crash. it landed

  • It was a crash landing.

  • sorry... playing round with the audio preview LOOL

  • I'm a massive fan of Belinda Street.

  • that pilot needs to be knighted

  • dam good pilot

  • Yes I agree the pilots did an amazing job but lets not for get about the cabin crew who seem to get no mention, as cabin crew myself it is really disheartening to think that we get everyone out of the aircraft and we don't get a mention, but well done to all

  • aplausos!!!

  • that would be so cool to be on that plane

  • Good Pilot.

  • WTF this is like UFO vids, its 2009 can we get something that shows better quality ever. If we are goin to tape every event in life from now on, For christ sakes where is the technology to actually let us see in detail wtf is goin on not smudges or blurry crap. so sick of this

  • I hope you die in a fire

  • I'm with you bro!

  • 1000 thumbs up for the pilot....

  • the pilot saved many lives by doing that.

if he would have landed it the city that would have killed everyone in the plane, and around it.

  • Camera's everwhere times are changing.

  • Awesome! Glad everybody make it out alive! I want this pilot for my next flight!

  • That is wild! I can't believe this it didn't turn out worse. Kudos to the pilot for not letting this turn into a huge disaster. It's a good thing he knew what he was doing or they would likely have all died. I wonder what happened to make the plane come down in the first place......either way I'm glad they survived!!!! :D

  • i think he hit a flock of geese and it caused the engines to fail. the pilot did do a good job.

  • how to landing like this.but he did.

  • the pilot is a hero

  • asshole

  • too bad nobody cares for you huh..you poor poor lost soul you know what would be good!! =D...if you killed yourself by cutting your wrists verticaly

  • That is a horrible thing to say. Why would you even think that? That is sick.

  • yeah, gonna agree with nachos on this one, you are definately an asshole. Too bad you werent on that plane.

  • Too bad you didn't die either.

  • if it wasn't for the pilot, and if the pilot didnt know what he was doing it would have came out very differently

  • THOSE ARE AOL TOWERS NOT TWIN TOWERS

  • USGC? Shouldn't it be USCG?

  • What are the Twin Towers doing in the background?

  • Those are not the Twin Towers. Those were downtown.

  • to Icng4fun no its not, didnt you see it on the news dopey

  • Imagine the reaction of the people watching it...

  • Una volta tanto, tutti salvi.

Grazie ai soccorritori e al pilota.

  • There will never be such a successful emergency landing as that ever again. A exceptionally rare moment. A miracle! That pilot should be invited to the Whitehouse or Disney Land.

  • the pilot was a retiried fighter pilot...so you can bet he knew what he was doing...its awesome that not even 1 person died

  • Once a Russian pilot did the same in 1963. As long as aircraft is manageable and pilots are professionals, this kind of landing is not a miracle. This situation is special because pilots did not have room for mistakes, had very little time.

  • Thank God they are all ok!

    Great Pilot

  • i would like to see the camera_guy face .

thank god the river is full of boats.

  • that pilot should get a freakin medal. thats so awesome

  • Surprised by the response time from those boats

  • Lol, I bet this just totally screwed up the chances of people with a fear of flying to get over it. Ah, that sucks.

  • ya know, i really dont see what all the fuss and publicity is about, the plane was landed extrememly well by extremely experienced pilots, the passengers are all fine, and everything worked out great for everyone!

I mean really, we don't need THIS much news coverage of this shit. jeez. i swear in the last 3 or 4 days i have heard more about this crash then i have about the Presidential Inauguration...get over it.
