The Girl Next Door is, without a shred of doubt, the most haunting novel that I have ever read. Never have I put down a book feeling anxious and panicky before, and I am an lifelong horror enthusiast. I enjoy horror for its subtle humor and optimism, but Jack Ketchum reminds us that it can still be darn right terrifying. The image I created of Meg burns in my mind till this day.
Jack Ketchum is the man, and his good buddy Edward Lee is also the man. If Ketchum doesn't pull his punches, Lee doesn't pull his ball shots. Both these guys deliver in the most disgusting and ineffable ways possible.
Great writer who writes things that many authors wouldn't dare. I've read 2 of his books so far: All Killer, No Filler (literally). Love your work, Jack!

P.S. If you like Ketchum, you'll also like Brian Keene (altho it's highly likely that if you've read Keene you've read Ketchum and vice versa).
