It looks exactly like the Fishman model b. I think this preamp is meant for use of accoustic bass or stand up bass.
looks exactly same as the martin & co porta con. down to the belt clip. is it the same?

Well it depends on how much you play, battery quality of course, but mostly on if you remember to unplug the cord after playing. But I would say anything from six month to over a year. To be honest I really don't know :)
