I never cared about it, just ask the FA if they have something to hide, usually this shuts them up. Or just promise them to put it off and don't do it, they won't give a shit about you and your camera, you just might not be served in a friendly manner anymore, but what do we not all do to get to a good shot. To get all around this, don't board the jumbo with a jumbo camera and hide it until seconds before take off, this has always worked.

Interesting.... They let you take the video while taking off? Isn't your camera an electronic device (which aren't allowed to be used during takeoff and landing?)

Or is that only a US-only paranoia rule?
