  • fuck i love this! i send it to every one! lol great work!

  • "I just want to be a buttercup"

  • The acting drunk thing comes from the beginning of his career, where he drank way too much, and was in danger of throwing his career away, because he turned up drunk and did stuff like fall over the wire to the mike, or talk for 45 min when he was suposed to do 10. So, when he got a hold of himself again, he started acting drunk on stage to avoid a bad reputation.

  • lmao pure genius

  • his eyes and facial expressions suggest he's nowhere near being drunk. and that kind of shaking from nerves implies almost a clinical condition, surely its not that. WHAT THE HELL IS IT

  • It's called an act.

  • just for the record i _was_ being sarcastic

  • That's the trouble with the internet, it's just hard to pick up sarcasm.

  • Sarcasm online? Quite, quite. And especially on YouTube - here irony means "a bit like iron". Add to that people with reply-to-every-comment OCD, the lack of facial expression and other body language and also the fatal bad habit - endlessly and meaninglessly extending metaphors. And finishing other people's sentences. And having fun pissing other people off. The joys of trolling. And fishing for trolls. And filling up all 500 characters of the YouTube comment limit, right to the very last dot...

  • he looks as if hes going to die at any moment

  • Nerves?

  • get up on a stage and see if you can hold a mic still

  • You do KNOW who this is?

  • And secondly, he's holding a bottle right now. I'd imagine he drinks quite a bit, but on stage, it's either acted or exaggerated, and either way, it's funny, so don't pick it apart, you'll ruin the humour for yourself. just laugh at him

  • The shaking is the DTs - delirium tremens. I had it the other day and I'm not a heavy drinker.

But with Dylan Moran it's never important whether he's drunk or not.

  • that hardly makes any sense. delirium tremens only happens to VERY heavy drinkers, helpless alcoholics, during withdrawals.

  • Happened to me two months back. I agree that it was mild. But it was unique as a day when I NEEDED alchohol. (I don't think I got drunk that day, but the DTs where there)

  • It's a kind of hangover where you aren't dehydrated(drink water), tired (sleep at least 4 hours) and you don't have a headache (more water!).

You go about the day with this feeling.. that something isn't right. That the world around you is moving... moving to take hold of you. It's like an itch to.. and then your body and mind start sending you signals that don't really make sense.. A! And alcohol is the only answer.

    DTs happen.

Let's get over it .. Cheers!

  • @8DX Yeah i have that too. Is there any connection with drinking? Cuz I drink quite a bit and it's much worse when I'm drunk or hung over.

  • Well I think drinking and hangovers can make some nervous conditions worse, as well as psychological states (paranoia, nausea, restlessness). I think it could also have an effect on things like epilepsy.

I think each person has to find out for themselves how much drinking they can stand and if its worth it.

DTs are definitely alcohol-related. I've also known someone who had their depression greatly effected by alcohol.

  • i wonder if the shaking of the mic is part of the act i,e, drunk? or actual nerves?

  • I'd say part of the act. If you watch his Monster gig or even the comedy show Black Books he's always putting on the drunk impression.

  • drunk. in this and monster he does it. but on like totally, he doesnt. cause he's nto drunk

  • "Brush your teeth and your hair!" Ah, fuck off!

  • I wonder who would quote that particular line.....hi Oz :p ahhha

  • Yes well ¬_¬

I BRUSH MY HAIR EVERY DAY THANK YOU!! D:

  • Yeah....just not your teeth.

  • "brush" your hair? Mine hasn't seen a COMB in months. Not alongside a toothbrush anyway.

  • Amazing :)

Shame about the idiot shouting "good-bye" about 10 times at the begining. Which prooves Dylan just ignores and proves his skillsss.

    Thanks for posting =]

  • "we suck stones for money" gahhahahahaha XD

    love dylan :)

  • Holy crap he is dishing it out at a fairly lively pace! Is the playback speed too fast or was this his typical delivery tempo back then? I like the drawling, disinterested cadence he has been using of late

  • He most probably only hard a small slot and wanted to fit in as much of his good material as possible. Some people (not comedians) do it on youtube, because they want to fit the most amount of information within the 10 minute time limit.

  • omg he is soooo cute!!!

  • i wish a mysterious video of dylan moran would appear on MY computer.... :(

    or bill bailey

    or Jack Dee

    or Jimmy Carr

    I'm not picky........

  • You have excellent taste in comedy :D

  • Lump! Lump!

  • brush your teeth AND your hair! ...oh fuck off!

  • he's only like 20 here O.O

  • 23-24

  • 25/26 ;)

  • Hehe, who thought a lesson in psychology could be so funny? Sadly all-too familiar - I experienced the dark side of this...which is why I...*sniff*... just want to be a buttercup, dammit! *dream* Nice one, Mr M.

  • Also, his "ahaha!" at 7:10 cracks me up something awful.

  • Love.

  • ...I know two guys in Spain...

    XD He is a god!

  • haha , nice

  • i just want to be a buttercup! LMAO his voice wen he says "i just cant do anything any more" before that was soo sweet aww lol

  • i want to be a buttercup!

    genius!!!

  • it's stand up Therefore: no actual script

  • i saw this video a few years back and i loved it. it was what got me into his comedy in the first place. such a funny comedian

  • i just love dylan moran i am going to see him tonight in newcastle city hall i cant wait he is a unique comedian x

  • lmao "i just want to be a buttercup"

  • Fantastic *Appluade* wish i was there

  • Lmao

'they come in and beat them with waffles'

  • it's not canned...it's a live performance...

  • starskyx...what a fucking douchbag

  • 'fuckclump' best phrase ever!

  • his hand is realy shacky in this one and that's real beer not blackurant juice "wine" like they used in series 1 of black books

  • He's the joke about people being fine before....doesn't matter, tis good though!

  • a lot of comedians use these shows to test out their jokes before they do the bigger, filmed gigs. Sometimes the raw stuff here is better though - this set is a classic :)

  • I don't like young people their icky and they run around to quickly! hahaha

    I <3 Dylan!!

  • *cries* i cant do this anymore i want to be a buttercup.

    LOL. awesome!

  • Falling masonry, ha!

  • i think the shaking thing is partly due to beer and partly an act to give off that "drunk charming irish" stereotype

  • omg hes so young!! and really Hot!!

he's brilliant he's like my fave comedian!! i love him to bits! he's my idol! and i stick up for him even tho ive never met him!!

    LOVE YOU DYLAN!!

  • sums up exactly how i feel about him :)

he made black books, screw the ppl hu watched it cause of bill bailey

dylan moran all the way!!!! XD

  • omg hes so young!! and really Hot!!

he's brilliant he's like my fave comedian!! i love him to bits! he's my idol! and i stick up for him even tho ive never met him!!

    LOVE YOU DYLAN!!

  • I love him!!! but why is he shaking the mic so much... does he have parkinsons? i have looked at pretty much all of his vids on youtube and hes done that a few times

  • This may just be me, but I attribute his "shakes" to nervousness. It seems that he's quite reticent to give interviews...I suspect that despite the fact that he's so freakin' clever and funny, he's actually un-nerved by the whole 'stand up in front of a group of strangers thing'. Does that seem plausible?

  • nerves?

  • nerves or he's drunk.

(to my other comments, my pc went on a mad one, wasnt anything to do with me)

  • I usually don't like it when people post comments on comedy videos that just repeat something the comedian has said. Nevertheless, "fuckclump" is such a wonderful, onomateopoeic word!

  • Love his shirt!

  • luv uyiu best aaaaaaaaahhhhh blip vnvnv

  • haha when the hell was this??? that outfit is just.....something lol

love Dylan Moran he's great :)

  • it is part of being a comedian to be able to recycle some of the same material but it does get tedious when you see it in a lot of standups and takes the shine off it a bit.

this guy is still a genius tho =p would just like to see some new stuff :)

  • he did the same material three times, different versions of it though on comedy store, jounglers and the comedy store again. if your sick of this material then look at his other stand up vids like monsters, stop youre killing me, comedy festivals, like totaly and there are fuckloads more. its all fucking ace

  • Yeah I like Dylan Moran too but I getting sick of the same material.

  • That's really not that bad for one of his early shows =]

You could see he was nervous when the mic was shaking but he did well.

His hair looks better now then it did then. More scruffy! XD

  • Actually he's always like that, seeing that he seems constantly drunk :D

  • I do like the guy by the way, it's jus a little annoyin :D

  • sorry, i honestly thought the title said funny hair.

  • I thought that too at first. It would've suited Dylan well :)

  • Well his hair is quite unique. (Hang on, maybe its an Irish thing? I'm Irish and i'm not arsed about my hair, it resembles a dead animal :D)

  • y duz he ALWAYZ tell the same jokes at least twice in each stand up??

  • most comedians do it

  • he's one of my fav comedians and black books rocks yay

  • Oh, he's so funny xD

  • Come back when you can spell you tart.

  • Is he married? 'Cos if not, I'm going for it.

  • Yep, he's married since 97 *sniff*

    Kids and all.

But I'm with you, if he's single, I'd so go for it! heehee

  • Go Moran !! ;)

  • ha fucking (non sarcasticly) HA!!

  • Do you know what music he likes?

I think The Clash, The Skids and this oldschool stuff, isn't it?

  • VonLarkin, I heard that his favourate band is Velvet Underground.

  • the first comedian that comes up with new material for every show i will kiss their feet

although dlan is such a legend i would probly kiss his feet anyway

although i dont think he would enjoy the sentiment to be honest

  • ross noble is about as good a comedian as you'll find for new material every show

  • yeh but he just shites on about meat flaps and sponges to be honest i hardly even consider that material

  • maybe thats why your not famous. That was my joke of the night. :)

  • i dont get it

  • well i guess thats a matter of taste but your original message was about new material every might, not wether you personally found it funny.Anyway i think Dylan Moran, Eddie Izzard and Karl Pilkington as well as Noble all waffle on on surreal material and i like 'em all. I t seems you're a Dylan Moran fab also so that's a bit hypocrityical.

  • that may be true but i was only replying to the comment that was complaining on dylan specifically not coming up with new material for tv programmes etc there fore i do not see how my comment on ross noble can come across hypocitical just because i do not make the link between the two comedians strange subjects they talk about that you have made

  • he's only done the meat flap on the string bit in one show, and when he did it it was fuckin hilarious

  • this isnt an advertising opportunity you ass hole.

  • wse suck stones for money .......

god i love this man !!!!

  • Amazing! I have watched this ALOT of times.

He is a legend. haaaa ha hah hahaaa

  • haha ..im a man and everything..either that or a woman whos really let herself go. haha i love this guy i need to see him live

  • well of course he re does material... you know how many shows he does... he shouldnt have to write entirely new material everytime he does a different show when what he's already written is brilliant and a lot of people havent heard it

  • "I'm so rubbish, I can't do anything...I just want to be a buttercup." Awesome

  • Dylan Moran and Billy Bailey need to do more stuff together.

  • have they ever done anything together?

  • Black Books, bloody brilliant

  • sorry, but it's not Billy Bailey, it's Bill Bailey, i absolutely love Dylan Moran, he is the funniest man alive...black books is awesomely awesome too!

  • i love him so much. hes soo funny.

  • He looks cooler with long hair. And he rocks. That's the thing...with the piles...and the underground and such

  • he re uses material because it's fantastic!

he looks so sweet and drunk.

  • he re-uses his material....the "searching for lumps" thing and the end bit "i just pissed myself you deal with it"

    though he is the best.

  • All standups re-use their material. Its their job. And he is the best indeed.

  • no doubt about that, he is one of my fav stand ups.

  • I can tell you one that doesn't...wait, he does, but only minorly, never mind

  • hahaha.. ooh god. Loving it! He's amazing

  • "Then, of course, he talks like he's drunk."

I'm beginning to think that's because he IS drunk.

  • In fact, he only acts drunk, he's never actually drunk (according to Black Books Season 1 commentary)

  • classic, black books is also great

  • Dylan Moran has such an interesting stage presence. A bit stiff and awkward until he opens his mouth. Then, of course, he talks like he's drunk. It's great. ^^

    I love him.
