I'm not sure how often you need to gain access to the innards, but as a 'Woodist' I recommend using another fastening of some catches/ latches if you are regularly getting the screwdriver out. Another way of preventing the breadboard bank from sliding could be sticky-back Velcro, great stuff for many things.
That's a great bit of kit. I have next no clue what most of it's for mind. I've got a Maxitronics kit, a few books, a beginners PIC project and a programmer board but absolutely no time to commit to learning more than basic electronics taught to 11year olds, though with the vids I see on YouTube do inspire me to. If anyone can suggest an easy/quick resource for learning the basics please let me know.....
Very neat! I made a much more basic project board in 2004. I had breadboards mounted on a wood case and had 2 adjustible power supplies built in. One a positive LM317 and the other a negative LM337.
Hi please make more Videos, like the one about the Joule Thief useing multiple led's & incorperate the 555 time in a different video to make the lights blink....Excellant project box too David
The 7404 is a 6 gate straight inverter that takes a signal and reverses it. So a high becomes a low and a low become a high. I put these inline with the I/O signals from the processor to help isolate it from directly driving external circuits. This puts the risk of a current overdraw on the 7404 and not the processor. This way, if a short occurs the 7404 will take the damage instead of the processor, but, if the current draw is excessive it's still possible to damage other components.
hey there this was an awesome invention of yours I have 1 question if it is possible to explain how 7404 inverter works as combined with processor and helps processor to escape any short or over heating like you explained.
