I wouldnt recommomend keeping it underwraps. Check your state's game commissioner or wildlife website. Usually it is a permit process that shouldn't be too hard. I read for Pennsylvania it is a fifty dollar fee and no known land or cage requirements. (Florida requires like an acre or two and a 70 sq. feet outdoor cage)
Not looking into it may be cheaper but remember that if caught, the state might confiscate the fox and fine and incarcerate you. But dont give up trying to get a fox!
Thanks. well red or silver foxes can live to 15 years, she made it to almost 15. she never had any serious problems either, quite hardy. she also never had bad breath LOL! I dont know much about the State of Michigan, but I would imagine if you were careful enough and kept one under wraps you could probably keep one. That is what we did. Nobody bothered us.
No the only fox I can think of that does that is the arctic which is white in the winter and 'blue' in the summer. Red foxes stay red and silvers stay silver, they just shed their coats seasonally.
Not sure where you can get one these days....she came from a farm. Now people breed them to sell as pets but whether they make good pets or not is still up for discussion.
@LittleFrock hello i was thinking of getting a silver fox they are so cute ^ ^ i was wondering if you needed a perment to have a fox? and what do they eat?
Bridgette & Kevie go through their 'mangy' phase every spring where their fur will fall out in clumps. Which reminds me of a woman who once told me she saw a fox running in the field that 'looked like it had mange' so she had her husband shoot it. Can you imagine how many foxes are killed because they're only shedding?
what morons! It amazes me how many mental midgets there are in the world. Faybee got cat mange once when she was very young but it only appeared on her ears and face. It cleared up with medicated soap.

Faybee is beautiful. Is he/she friendly?
artemisfair 4 years ago
She was very friendly especially when meeting new people. She would wag her tail, roll over, and pant and squeal! She loved to greet visitors.
LittleFrock 4 years ago
Oh, you speak in past tense. is she no longer with you?
artemisfair 4 years ago
yea, she passed away late 2004...she was over 14 years old too!
LittleFrock 4 years ago
oh wow, I'm so sorry :( she seemed very nice.
artemisfair 4 years ago
Not that it would replace her, but do you think you might be able some day to acquire another fox-friend?
phoenixhielo 3 years ago
Yes I believe the silver color originally mutated from a red fox.

Are Silver Fox's friendly? Where can you get one anyway?

Mental midgets? HA! Where I live I'm sure there are people with NEGATIVE IQs!!!

I probably shouldn't use the word 'midget' alongside 'mental'....oh well, this is YouTube, not the State of the Union address!
