if you listened to the Neato Rep... not trying to be rude here, he said that since it has an intelligent navigation system, it can clean 1 area without having to cover a path more than once... my roomba 530 covers a path sometimes 3 or 4 times. roomba moves faster yes... but the rep says because it covers a path only once, they can divert more energy from the wheels (slower moving) to the cleaning system (more suction, more cleaning) and make it all more efficient, good idea, luv my roomba tho.
I have the Samsung Robot Vac and like it this one doesn't appear to clean corners or against walls very well at all. Samsung uses a camera to map the ceiling and IR sensors to identify walls and other obstacles in its path while drawing a virtual 3D map in its memory of the room(s) it is currently cleaning. A lot more efficient than the Roomba vacs but still needs a little tweeking.
No...watching the same video. What I'm trying to get across is that although it uses all this marvelous technology it still stays 2"-3" away from the wall where, as anyone knows, a lot of dirt collects for obvious reasons. I have a Roomba as well and yes it is not nearly as efficient as the Samsung but it does clean right to the walls base. Watching the video this Neato machine operates very similar to me in comparison to the Samsung and needs better "close" wall cleaning. Thats all.
well more than likely it has different cleaning modes and maybe one of them does a closer more in depth cleaning routine than the one demonstrated in the video. Haven't really done a lot of research on this particular one so anythings possible.
Speed is a non issue to me. I can let the thing clean up while I'm at work. My issue is with the price. Why pay $399 when I can by a man powered vacuum for $70 - $80? It seems more like a cool gimmick to impress your friends with. - All that aside I think it's really cool. Even If I don't buy one I like the technology. It was cool watching it run. - We could use similar technology to get rid of land mines in Southeast Asia.
@watcher2987 Well, depends on your wage. Think about how much time you spend vacuuming your home, then work out how much money you'd get if you worked that amount of time instead.
And, if you're in a multi-person household, there's always the advantage of scheduling it to clean when noone is at home, instead of the loud noise always disrupting everyone.
whoa...it look he won't cleaning the area...

It looks like it gets pretty close to the walls, but I've seen other videos of the XV-11 where it gets right up against them.

I think its a good robot but way WAY too slow... Once they speed the thing up then I might consider getting one in the distant future.
vinceraptor 2 years ago
Consider that you don't need to watch it cleaning. It can do the work while you are out of the house.
