I recommend combat arms; if you're going to be in the Army, go for a front-line combat job, not a paper pushing one (important as they are) I've enjoyed my time. Kind of like "Why did he sing it like that?", but you'll realize that its pretty much essential to their sound. I mean I've heard people who actually thought it was a Jamacian guy singing "Welcome Home". I used to think "I'll never get into this because of that guy's voice" but now I'm pretty much a huge fan of them and I love Claudio's voice. Spent all of last year in Afghanistan...this song came to define the time our squad spent there together. You can talk about the Amory Wars, or the lead singer's original intent, or what the lyrics actually SAY...but this song is about war and life and death and friendship and pure, gut-wrenching loss. And hope for a better future. I can't begin to say how much this song means to me. As long as I remember my brothers, I will remember Mother Superior. "Young fools, don't cry anymore."

@derontchi The experiance really varies, depending on what job you select, and what unit you go to. I recommend combat arms; if you're going to be in the Army, go for a front-line combat job, not a paper pushing one (important as they are) I've enjoyed my time. Getting ready for my next deployment right now actually.

@JDW857 It's an acquired taste, but trust me, keep listening, you will learn to absolutely love this band. But, basically, there's a story behind Coheed and Cambria. Do some research, the lead singer has written a novel about and a big comic book series called "The Amory Wars"

@JDW857 I think a lot of people have that reaction the first time they hear Claudio sing. Kind of like "Why did he sing it like that?", but you'll realize that its pretty much essential to their sound. I mean I've heard people who actually thought it was a Jamacian guy singing "Welcome Home". I used to think "I'll never get into this because of that guy's voice" but now I'm pretty much a huge fan of them and I love Claudio's voice. Honestly, you'll get over it, because their music is addicting.

@Drummerican234 there lyrics are universal dude, they arent only about the comics, the meaning is deeper than the comics, they're based off his life . real life situations that all of us can relate to . comics are cool, but the emotion of the music is a different thing .

RIGHT. I want some opinions on this... It cuold just be that they were one of those "from my youth" bands, but I've been trying to put my finger on the X-factor that their songs have.
And to me it feels like the ambience of christmas songs: that underlying warmth through the cold of winter. I'm sure you know what feeling I mean.
Like I say, it's probably a very specific, personal connection, but I just wanted to know if anyone identifies with that?
