@CodGameWawPlay After you buy the full version you need to go download the full version from the member's area. If you're downloading it from the regular area, then it's still the 30 second version.
@MrSadsadsad101 You'll only see the yellow numbers appear in game and only if Fraps can pick up the game. You can also check your FPS tab in Fraps to make sure you have selected an Overlay Corner, it's not hidden, and you don't have "Only update overlay once a second" checked.
@MrSadsadsad101 Well, the answer is both yes and no. If you're on a WinXP or Vista setup with only the What U Hear/Stereo Mix options available to you, then a USB headset will NOT be recorded with the game audio. On Win7 both will be recorded properly.
@gillygotguns2010 Well, pretty sure it's not capslock, so you might want to turn that off. You can set the hotkey yourself, so you might want to check it out for yourself to see what it is set to.
When I record games and encode them using adobe media encoder. I usually notice that fraps break the videos into multple parts, like 3 mins per clip even though I record the game continuosly. Can you help?
@haqim71 Check out part 2 of this tutorial. They're meant to be broken as soon as Fraps hits a little before the 4GB mark per file. That's for easy handling of the files in rendering software like Virtual Dub.
@MrJake810 You mean when you're playing a game? Check the FPS tab. It has options to turn off the counter in game as well as buttons that can be set to toggle it.
@blueslasher8 Changing the FPS does not mean you get better FPS, it only helps you record at an FPS rate that the game tolerates to avoid lag issues. If a game lags at 30, I try something higher, if it still lags, I look for stuff on Google and try to tweak my video card settings as well as in game settings till it stops lagging. Usually in game settings are tweaked first, though.
@sakil7395 Huh? I don't know what you're talking about. I didn't talk about loop buffer length anywhere in this video. Not sure what you're asking about at all.
@sakil7395 Sounds like you're working with version 3.4.0 of Fraps. I'm using 3.3.0 in this video. In any case, I believe the loop buffer refers to a feature where you can hold down your record key till the FPS gauge turns pink instead of red. That will create a 30 second buffer. Once you hit the record key again, it will begin recording normally as well as saving whatever is in the buffer. 3.4.0 has the capability to change the time from 30 seconds to something else. Videos being split is normal
An unrelated question but: How do you know whether or not your sound card (or on-board sound) is stereo mix 'compatible'? I am not too knowledgable on this subject and I am having problems recording both voice and game sound with stereo mix. I think it may be the hardware, but I need to be sure. Thanks for any help.
@Magistrixification If you see "Stereo Mix" or "What U Hear" as an option, then it is compatible. You may need to update your soundcard drivers if it's not working. Also, be sure that your recording device is set to Stereo Mix or What U Hear, otherwise it won't matter. On top of that, be sure to unmute your microphone feedback on the playback device. If your microphone doesn't feedback through playback, it doesn't get caught by those options anyway.
@mossclaw55 It's not a specific requirement based on specific games. It depends on your computer, the game, plenty of factors. You need to experiment with what works best for you. That's how I do it.
@wrldofwarcraft98118 Depends entirely on your computer. There is no magic bullet answer that works for all. On average, I use 30 FPS for pretty much anything... but keep in mind your computer may not function as well at the same rate. It's important to test yourself to make sure.
@kris10ish Try setting your FPS to 60 on Fraps. If it still drops very low, it might be a problem with your computer. You either may not have the equipment to record it properly or you need to change some game settings such as render distance within Minecraft.
@FrozenFoxy Yeah Lucky im building my new pc soon With an amd phenom ii 955 x4 with a gtx 460 4 gig of ram 2tb hard drive and probarly a 500 gig external and asus motherboard if i cant record minecraft then I will be very sad
i got fraps and am currently trying to record a lets play with commentary as a test, but my usb microphone isnt included in my sound cards stereo mix. i suppose i could just get a headset with a regular audio input, but those are expensive, and i already have a usb webcam with a pretty decent yet not tremendous mic. Do you know of any fixes other then VAC?
@segabud VAC is definitely not good. It'll ruin the audio. 3.5mm jack is the only thing included in Stereo Mix/What U Hear. USB is not included, ever. Fix 1. Upgrade to Windows 7 if you don't already have it. You can mix sources such as game audio and USB microphone audio. Fix 2. Buy a 3.5mm jack headset/microphone.
thank you for doing this. virtualdub and 'what u hear' really helps, now all i need is 'Fraps' and a rather good headset and i'll be good to go. unfortunately, i have no budget for this kind of stuff, so it probably will be a while before i can get started. By the time i have the appropriate income to budget for this kind of stuff, my voice will probably have improved, making me more confident. Once again, Thank you.

@minecrafterbox At 3.95GB, yes? That's how it is meant to work. Check out part 2 for how to put them together and make them small.
