I'm lucky enough to even have found out about these guys-i'm into punk, metal, glam etc but i'll take rock n' roll of this caliber over all of it anyday.
What I find funny is They had to change the band name for America because there was already a "The Angels" and now their American name "Angel City" has been stolen too. Long live Australia's best kept secret
I know...i thinks its because they never really became too popular here in the states. AC/DC mania crowded them out. Sad because I always prefered them over AC/DC(w/ Johnson). They seemed more versatile.
love these guys it's hard to believe that they are one here cause no one seems to know who they are. first herd them on a canadian radio station in the 80's thanks for the great song
I think it was like Midnight Oil, hit and miss on the "hit" type songs. Don't compare with AC/DC, Bon had a unique vocal style which carried them.(but never fully recovered or expanded with Brian in my opinion)
I don't know why they wernt quite rock not quite punk and too hard for the pop of the day. Great sound though, wish I could see them in the states again, consider yourself lucky.
Awsome concert. Still sounds fantastic after 28 years . I saw them two months ago at doncaster and have tickets to see them again at the Forum in Melbourne in Novemeber. Thanks for sharing this concert with us.
It's all on the first cut. It was from a RISING STAR concert I taped from the radio station in Seattle that aired it. The concert was at the Paramount Theater and a load of friends from High school piled up and went and saw it. I stayed home because of lack of $, but in the end I was the one that ended up with the memories still on tape. It was a concert I wished I'd seen but I have no regret for staying home now. They had a cool sound. Glad to hear they are still kicking it out.
Before touring U.S.A in 1980 they did the exact show in Melbourne 1979 live at Latrobe University. They have just released this concert live on DVD & CD so higman, if you are able to purchase this awesome concert on ebay you will finally be able to view pretty much the exact show live 28 years after recording them on tape. The DVD is titled The Angels This is it folks over the top Live at La Trobe University Melbourne 1979.
Hi Higman -no leave it up, what we would be good is some more back ground information. Like what you liked about this great band, memories and how was this broadcast ?(for those of us outside the US) .Angel City /The Angels are reforming. They still have many fans worldwide.

How big were The Angels in U.S.A. Why didn't they really make it like AC/DC.
