thankyou for posting this stentepro.. i went to the battlefields last year with my two brothers to find my grandad and two uncles graves.. what a moving exsperiance... we are going again in july..... once again cheers friend...
My grand father, a lieutenant, was there too. He came out of the war alive and well, then got into a brawl with a French soldier in Paris and almost had to have his left arm amputated due to an infection caused by the Frenchman's teeth. In the end the fingers in his left hand were all horribly twisted but he kept his arm. He died in 1972, at the age of 80, and he went back to the Somme a few times.
Those poor soldiers, bravery against machine guns is no match. The Generals on both sides should suffer every consequence of such stupid suicidal orders to attack such positions
UP LADS! Step off smartly and know there is no safe place.... follow me! *whistle blows* They were giants among men. I salute their memory and their gallant rush... may they lead us still.
thank you for posting, my grandad served in East Yorks regt at the Somme, led to believe a clip of the East Yorks troops marching is shown on your video footage
I visited the same war memorial last year. one just stands still and can´t believe how many graves there are. May we never forget all soldiers who fought in this horrible war.

A whole generation sacrificed for some egomaniacs in the governments. Such a waste. So sad.

So long ago, yet we can still learn from these young men. God bless them all, on all sides.

God bless these brave lads! They'd have gone even if they could have seen what was coming down the line.
