  • I love Madlib, but i gotta say before Madlib, DJ Premier brought me here for using this Gem for the "Intro" of Bahamadia's Album "Kollage", Peace

  • madlib brought me here too haha... this is why hip hop can be so beautiful, its the one thing really bringing people back to oldschool soul/jazz/blues for real. keeping the funk... funky

  • No one dislike, cause everyone expected to hear that good sound!

  • This is truly beautiful music. I have to check out some more of Bobby's catalog. But if it wasn't for hip hop, I'd have no idea who he is, along with several other artists from this genre.

  • @CrazyRaider77 Who *she* is :)

  • @barbax123 Really? I thought it was a dude. My bad.

  • Easily my favorite LP from her, some of Mizell's best production for sure. I'm selling ALL of my jazz/funk/soul/hip hop wax including an orig Bobbi Humphrey - Fancy Dancer LP if anyone is interested...hit me up!

  • This is totally, unequivocally the best thing I have heard in my whole life. Will never get tired of this.

  • Fancy Letting Madlib Loose on the back catalog.. free to sample what and how he wishes.. he introduces so many people to new genres and encourages us to work and hunt for the good stuff.. this reaal good stuff

  • When I first heard Madlibs hip hop mix of this, I instantly recognized something. Listening to this is now bringing back something from my childhood, but I cant wrap my head around what that might be.

Not entirely sure of what's happening here, but I feel good.

I'm also not high, by the way...

  • Hello Youtube Fam;

If anyone watched the Cosby Show Episode where Cliff had to get rid of his favorite couch and at the end a flute song is played as he says farewell to the couch.. Does anyone know who this flute piece is by?

  • I'm number 47 "Number of likes"

  • Bobbi you are truly representing! Keep on doing your thing, we miss your unique talent.

  • a calming tune here....

  • the intro 2 bahamadia's 1st album" kollage"

  • this is so beautiful, makes me upset how people don't dig for music and they listen to that dumb crap on the radio

  • 5*****!!

  • Methinks DJ Day sampled this for "A Place to Go"....

  • @yoorheinez Go back to your Jamiroquai vids (he doesn't sample, he ripps off...much better ;) and don't worry, ultimately, with a bit of luck, you'll find someone to suck your cock...

  • I had not idea where The Roots and Bahamadia had sampled this beat from. Now I know. word up.

  • Whoa, What a classic! I listen to this song and I can only marvel at the piece of work, Bobbi's and the Mizell brothers gift to us mere mortals. What a remarkable collaboration between Bobbi, Larry & Fonce Mizell - giants of the genre to be sure. The Mizell brothers collaboration with Donald Byrd is one for the ages as well, but "Please Set Me At Ease" is in a class by itself. Thanks so much for sharing with this generation!

  • @briangsmooth

This lp, JOHNNY HAMMONDS SHIFTING GEARS AND DONALD BYRDS STEPPING INTO TOMORROW AND PLACES AND SPACES ARE AMONGST MY MOST TREASURED LPS I HAVE ON VINYL. THEY STILL TAKE ME PLACES WHEN I LISTEN TO THEM. INCREDIBLE MUSIC..

  • Bobbi Humphrey is one of the premire flutest in music today. Her Blacks & Blues album is a classic. I love her early music that was written & produced by Fonce & Larry Mizell. Also some of her collaborations with the late Skip Scarborough. It is sad that she has been cheated out of much of her royalties by some of the record companies. I do hope she releases more music soon.

  • how can i get a hold of madlib?

  • Half of libs samples comes from ths GREAT woman.... RESPECT

  • how cool have u been to listen to this track

  • madlib did this beat right but the original song bananas

  • Hahaha wow Remixes by great producers are good

    BUT!

Nothing beats the original ;D AMAZING!

  • In think the correct name is Bobbi Humphrey, no?

  • you're right

  • cool, it makes it easier to find this great musician!

  • @barbax123 "SHE " is a female artist and great at her craft she is my inspiration

  • Oh yeah, how can anybody hate on Madlib? He's promoting good records and classic artists one production at a time. Real recognize real...

  • @mootbooxle or wheels of mechanized steel?

  • @mootbooxle teach!

  • everybody who thinks madlibs a piece of shit - you cant even imagine how many people discovered humprey or harris thankfuly to shades of blue

  • yes its thanks to people like madlib and pete rock that these jazz legends are being brought back to life for a whole new generation to enjoy and thats a beautiful thing because the music is timeless.

  • @namkooc I would of never known who Donald Byrd, Bobbi Humphrey, Lonnie Liston Smith and many others were if I didn't look through the CD booklets of Black Moon and Digable Planets to see where they got the sample from. I used to always think if this sounds so good I wonder how the original sounds. At 15 listening to stuff like this opened my ears to so many different styles of music, and I found it all because Black Moon sampled it.

  • @voitexonix I dont see how people get so upset with madlib either i mean, all it is, is his own inturpetation of the music which is art. Just something meant to be listened too, people always get so caught up in whos the 'best' or silly arguments like that. Just chill, relax and enjoy the art of it all.

  • @voitexonix you are so correct! i discovered donald byrd's distant land thanks to Madlib. At least if Madlib does sample a beat he does the original the ultimate justice

  • @youngsweetgeesus Madlib didn't sample this... He was hired to REMIX all 14 tracks on Shades of Blue by Blue Note Records.

  • @cervantez0l5 Well, not exactly. He didn't replay them, he just sampled the master tracks that Blue Note handed him.

  • @voitexonix RIGHT! Who the heck would think Madlib's wack??? I have to agree with both you and @mootbooxie, he's paying homage to majorly slept on jazz musicians. Heck, he's the sole reason I've noticed their underrated sound in the first place

  • awesome, madlib, the roots sampled it, at least it wasn't butchered by unqualified mainstream rappers

Peace, and YOU SHOULD LOVE HIP HOP!

  • yes, it is Distortion to Static, from the album From The Ground Up

  • The Roots also used this on there 1994 album do you want more?

  • bahamadia

  • every time I hear this, I find myself waiting for someone to scream/echo "BAHAMADIA!" haha

  • yeah me too
